Untamed, in the House of Night Series by P.C and Kristin Cast, relaxing and easy holiday reading original.gif
71Cath
I loved TGWTDT, but I did find that you have to concentrate really hard to get into it, and keeping all the characters straight is a challenge!
Ianthe
Mansfield Park by Jane Austen.
Wickedness
I too started TGWTDT and found it hard to read... I saw the movie today and it was brilliant!!! I really enjoyed it, and im looking forward to the next installments coming out at the cinema. rolleyes.gif I will try again to read the book now after seeing the movie, i think I will find the characters a bit easier to follow after seeing the movie. It was fantastic!

I started to read The Road but didnt like it and after reading another thread here i dont think I will bother with it... NMS.

Great I am glad I am not alone. I am trying to power through it as I want to go and see the movie too. Is it subtitles?

Caught by Harlan Coben

I'm on the final millenium book The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest. For those reading the 1st the following books are far more engaging and quick to read so do perservere.

Yes, it's a Swedish film. They also use white writing on white background so can be hard to read every now and again. It's an excellent film.
Sarie
Beach Road by James Patterson.

Great book, I finished Beach House a few days ago, also great as are all his books Tounge1.gif

I loved these. Now I'm hanging out for the last book.
They were much better than the Twilight series.

Cross Stitch - Diana Gabaldon

You really have to persevere with "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". I had trouble with it too but am so glad that I soldiered on with it. I have read all 3 books in the series and enjoyed all of them. I am now reading a Patricia Cornwell one which I am not really enjoying, usually I like her books. It's called "Scarpetta".
mummyummy
Starting House Rules can not wait!

BIg fan of Patricia Cornwell but did not enjoy Scarpetta

So I've finished the first 6 books in the house of night series (LOVED IT!) and now have to patiently await until #7 arrives on Australian shores (apparently there will be 12 books in this series)

Fall by Lauren Kate is awaiting my eager eyes and I also finally found a copy of the summer garden by paullina simons to complete the tatiana tale!

That was quite a confronting read, I never got to see the movie, but I'm now glad that I read the novel first and will wait until its' on DVD>

I have finished Vampire Academy and really enjoyed it. I am now onto one by Laura Bloom called "In the Mood" - dont know anything about it or the author, so we will see what it is like.

Off to the library website now to order the next vampire book.

Oh, I also just bought the graphic novel of Twilight blush.gif

The Coroner (investigating sudden death) by Derrick Hand and Janet Fyfe-Yeomans. Derrick Hand was the NSW State Coroner for 5 years. It's very interesting and doesn't delve heavily into the cases.
Spektor
Major Pettigrew's Last Stand - very charming!
Ianthe
I am reading Mary Barton by Elizabeth Gaskell.

I am going on holidays on Saturday so am carefully thinking through what books to take away with me. I have a few options. I usually end up taking more books than anything else just in case.
71Cath
I have just finished "Stolen" by lesley Pearse and I was pretty disappointed with it. Really predictable and pretty lazy writing. I was a bit sad as I have really enjoyed most of her stuff.

Have moved onto a new one by Wendy James - "Where have you been?"
winterlong
Just started Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons.
Fancy and Epic
I adore Cold Comfort Farm.
71Cath
About to start "Frostbite"
Molondy
Just finished "The Shadow Queen" and "Shalador's Lady" by Anne BIshop and have moved on to "Ransom" by David Malouf (from the ridiculous to the sublime!)

I have a bit of a thing for food related books ATM I have just read Julie and Julia by Julie Powell (and seen the film) and Lunch in Paris by Elizabeth Bard which was brilliant and am now reading The Gastronomy of Marriage by Michelle Maisto. I have got Cleaving also by Julie Powell to go then I should be done with the food fetish thing!

I loved TGWTDT our book club is off to see the film tommorrow night.
leo the lioness
Currently reading What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty.
Ianthe
I enjoyed that book Nerida.

I have just read two Kerry Greenwood Phryne Fisher novels.
71Cath
I really enjoy Kerry Greenwood as well. Need to get my hands on number 4 in the Corrina Chapman series.

Right now I am reading Shadow Kiss (3rd in Vampire Academy series)
leo the lioness
Ianthe I really liked it too. I was disappointed with the outcome of the last chapter but after the "Epilogue" was much happier! I had a few tears here and there too.

I'm now reading Someone's Crying by Maureen McCarthy.
Spektor
Solar by Ian McEwan.

First and excited
Just finished reading The Kite Runner and Mao's Last Dancer.

Can anyone post here? original.gif

I just finished 'We were the Mulvaneys' by Carol Joyce Oates and balled most of the way through it but loved it.
Hermes
Fallen, by Lauren Kate. Really easy read, its nice to just zone out for a few days with something a little easier.. Does sort of remind me of Twilight though.
Bubs10
I'm reading 61 hours by Lee Child.

It is great, I can't put it down. It is the first of his books I have read. Has anyone read any others? I need to get my hands on some more of the books he has written!
Sarie
Honeymoon By James Patterson.

Great book so far original.gif
BadCat
Just finished reading Someone Else's Child by Sue Phillips.

It's a true story of how Sue became a surrogate and the legal and emotional trials she had to go through to do it. Sue lives in Canberra so it's an Australian perspective not an American commercial surrogacy arrangement. Interesting read.
~Panda~
About to start Dead In The Family by Charlaine Harris (book 10 in the series)
galba

A bodice-ripping historical romance wwhistle.gif

Molondy
I finished Solar by Ian McEwen and Ransom by David Malouf last weekend.

Currently I'm switching between "Dance Dance Dance' by Haruki Murakami and Girl who played with fire. Neither has grabbed me yet but I'm very excited about the new:

Elizabeth George
JV Jones
Guy Gavriel Kay; and
Sara Douglass

novels.

Spektor - what did you think of Solar? Odd book wasn't it? After the reviews I expected to really really HATE Michael but you know, I kind of didn't, despite the fact he was utterly appalling! I mean for heaven's sake you couldn't ever really say his heart was in the right place!

I just saw an interview with him about this. I think I might have to give it a whirl, it sounds intriguing.
