Can't believe our little babies are turning 1 - makes me fell kind of sad....... Everyone keeps saying "oh well you will just have to have another" I think if I applied that theory to everytime my baby grows up I will have a tribe LOL!!

All ok here, Mr X is napping before we head out to mum's group. Still fevers off and on - think it must be teeth *sigh* we need a break from the teeth!! Sleep is woeful, oh well.

Would LOVE to see some pics from the first birthday parties!!! Am on FB if it is easier to share them that way - Rachelle Cooke.

Have a great Monday everyone. Will be BBL for a proper post biggrin.gif

Hi Girls,
Rachelle - I couldnt find you on FB too many with your name. What is your profile pic? Hope the teeth come through and you get a break. Here is a link to Alana's party that I posted on FB

http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/tt139/F...ay_edited-1.jpg

Nat - Yay Immi walking so nice to hear the babies doing new things

Mel - good luck with the weight loss, I prob have the same to lose but cant get myself motivated enough to start... Im thinking when I get some sleep ...does that mean never???

Ronny - Hope you're all feeling better now. Sounds like you had a nice day anyway, we have a van at Shallow its lovely. PS its for sale biggrin.gif

Lou - well done to Callum as well for walking, I cant wait for Linc to walk and turn into a little upright person.

AFU - L is still not sleeping so Im going to a Pinky McKay Sleep seminar on Wed, I have high hopes for this, we somehow have switched to no day BF (except for morning and evening) and 4-6 hourly overnight. Anyway will get her book and hopefully get some tips.

Am so excited about Linc's party on Sunday!
Better go he's awake
Bec

Hahaha Bec three year on and Im still waiting for sleep!!! I hope you find the seminar useful

Just a flying visit while FB is uploading some cake smash shots. I did ours a while ago because I was using the photos on our invitations. Cant believe my beautiful girl will be 1 in 2 and a half weeks. Shes so small and is often mistaken for a 5-6 month old that it is easy to forget how old she actually is.

I think we are going to bite the bullett and put Hannah into daycare just for one day a week I feel awful about it but she has me in tears nearly every day and I think we need a time out from each other. It might help her for when she start school next year too because atm she is never without a family member except for the odd hour at the gym creche.

Anyway must go spray paint these horses for Imogens cake. I have given up painting by hand

Good morning ladies,

We had a good night last night but an early start this morning! I now understand the term "getting out of the wrong side of bed"!! Mr X has been doing this a bit lately just waking up in a funk. So we went for a big walk (he LOVES being outside) and seem to have reset his mood, he is much happier now! The sleeping is so hit and miss at the moment, but when he does wake he does seem to be in pain. I think he is cutting his molars at the moment, I just wish all these teeth would come through already - it bothers him so much!! He sleeps terribly, he gets a loose tummy, he is irritable during the day and his wee!!!!!!! He is walking everywhere now and is getting far too independent (pulls his hand away when you try to hold it!) and has such a cheeky little personality. I am SO looking forward to having a celebration for his birthday - think I have most things organised - cake smash (thanks Mel - SUPER excited), invites will be going out this week, know what I will be cooking etc, have little loot bags with loot, bubble machine and LOTS of good company biggrin.gif !

I am still really enjoying work but am finding I am more tired - just can't catch up!! Xavier is still not going to day care though he was meant to last week for the day (first time) and he managed to get sick!!! Think he may have had roseola....... Anyway we will try again in June as I have to do two weeks of education so it will be just standard hours - but he will only be doing two days for two weeks. Must get more organised this time and get him in for a couple of hours practice run.

I think someone was asking about reflections on the last year! I do this all the time. Xavier was such a long-awaited little bundle and it is so hard to believe that he has been here almost a year! To think this time last year he was still snuggled away in tummy (kicking me too bits) and I was still working full-time (thinking I would go overdue huh.gif ) and now less than a year later I have a walking, babbling, energetic, spirited little soul. He has bought an abundance of joy to our lives, and even on our worst days he still brings a giggle out of us. He is such a loving, cuddly little boy and is absolutely gorgeous to boot (biased much) and is very charming indeed. He loves other kids and is a real social butterfly. Anyway I could talk all day about how much love and joy he has bought us, the year has definitely had its challenges (colic) but it was all worth it!!

bron23:- LOL about your comment on sleep. I was only thinking the other day, I don't think I will get any until they are all grown up, have moved out of home and are settled, stable adults LOL. Would love to see your cake smash shots!! Would you be able to add me on FB?? Don't feel guilty about Hannah going to daycare once a week - I am sure she will love the extra stimulation and fun things that they do!! Sounds like Imogen's cake will be a good one - can't wait to see!!!!!!

be-e:- Thanks for adding me on FB. LOVE the pic's of Lincoln's cake smash and Alana's birthday party!! What gorgeous babies your family makes!! Would love to hear some feedback on the Pinky McKay seminar - she doesn't come up north very often sad.gif but would love to hear any great tips or advice that you thought useful!! Hope you get some sleep soon!

beebs:- Good luck with the cleaning!!! Nothing worse and it is so hard getting everything done with a bub under your feet!

Well I better go and give Mr X his breakfast! Hope everyone has a great day and all that babies are being good to their parents!!

Happy first birthday William

Rachelle will add you later today original.gif

Not sure if it made eastern states news but we have been slammed by storms over here. Our playroom looked like it had a waterfall So much rain the gutters didnt have time to empty it before it all spilled into the house.
We were pretty lucky only having water damage. Jacobs ladder (super steep steps that fitness freaks such as my hubby like to run up and down for fun) collapsed in a mudslide and has damaged the apartments under it. Trees down everywhere, roads collapsed, massive hail damage its really bad. The are expecting more sotrms this afternoon so hopefully they arent as bad..........................

Hi Ladies,

I haven't posted for a while but have been reading regularly. So a belated happy birthday to Callum, Alana and Thomas and Happy Birthday to William. Isn't it so exciting to have all these first birthdays coming up - still a month away for Jem and as it's going to be a very small low key event I haven't really thought about any details.

I've been loving the photos on FB of people's cake smashes and birthday parties. Keep them coming - I'm Joanne Lockwood on FB, think there's a few not on my friends list still.

Bron - yes we definitely got footage of that terrible storm, how scary and I hope you didn't have too much cleaning up to do. We had similar - though perhaps not quite so dramatic - storms a few weeks ago, it's crazy isn't it. I'm sure daycare will be good for Hannah and for you, don't feel guilty about it, I think you've done a fantastic job and only have her best interests at heart. I hear you also on forgetting how old Imogen is because of her size, Jem is also a little tacker and is constantly been mistaken for a younger baby.

Rachelle - funny about X getting up on the wrong side, glad the walk did the trick. Hope the teeth come through quickly and the sleep settles down for you soon. I loved reading your reflection, such a beautifully written and joyful passage. Hope the daycare gets sorted out without too many more dramas.

Bec - I'd also love to hear any good tips from Pinky McKay - she's about the only person I find helpful in terms of parenting advice. I like that she has a gentle approach and gives you confidence to follow the cues of your own baby and your own instincts rather than recommending strict routines, which is just not my style. Enjoy the party for L on the weekend.

Sorry, can't see the rest on the previous thread. Hi to everyone though.

AFU - We've been having some sleep issues as well with Jemima. She has taken to waking up at about 8-9pm and refusing to go down again until after midnight. She invariably has to do a poo about 20 mins after getting up, so I assume that's why she's waking, but I really don't know how to get her to go down afterwards instead of staying awake for hours. She usually then sleeps through, or wakes just once and is easily settled, but then also refuses an afternoon sleep so is super grumpy in the afternoons.

Other than that she's going great, crawling everywhere and getting really fast, pulling herself up of everything and saying lots of different words/sounds.

Reflection - I was thinking the other day what Jem was like inside before she was born. I remember she was CONSTANTLY moving especially in the evening/night. She moved so much I often felt seasick and looked like I had something trying to escape through my stomach and she had the hiccups all the time. Funnily enough she is still like this, constantly moving, never still and lots of hiccups. Someone actually asked me if I though she might be hyperactive - not sure how you tell at this age, but she is extremely active. In other respects she is such a joy, the smiliest baby I know and super cute - though there might bit just a little bias in that opinion. She is determined, independent and loves music. I am so looking forward to see her develop into a little person with her own take on the world. Given how much she babbles, I think I might have a talker on my hands soon.

Work - I'm hoping to do some CRT work in term two so that's only a couple of weeks away, still haven't hear if she's got a place in Family Day Care, hopefully my April I'll know. I'm really looking forward to getting back into the classroom and having a little something for me. The extra $$ might be nice too.

TTC - We've done 1 cycle so far, think AF should be due today though who know since I'm still BFing. Anyway no signs of her so will wait another week or so and then test maybe, I don't feel any different. I did have my first major breast lump last week, took a couple of days to ease and I can still feel it a bit, but not like it was. Thought maybe hormones might be contributing seeings as I've never really had any lumps in 11 months of BFing. Anyway I have enough on my plate to really think about TTC in the 2WW, so different from last time.

Sorry, I've really rambled on here, hope everyone is well.

Jo

Hi ladies,

I just wanted your thoughts on the following:

DH read in the paper about a Baby Quest that is on locally. He said I should take Linc, but Im weird about it. Its just at a local shopping centre. I didnt want to go by myself but didnt want to ask some of the mums from mums group because I dont want to be competitive or anything. So Im not asking if you think we should go just after your honest opinion on these things???

Morning

Happy Birthday William

Alana is still asleep and Darcy is with his Nan so I have a few spare minutes.

Bec - Do it. Just for fun. Linc is gorgeous (I'm a bit biased). As long as you don't take it seriously just go and see what its like.

Jo - Sorry I have no suggestions for getting Jem back to sleep. Good luck going back to work. I did my first 2 days of teaching last week as a CRT. I thought I may have been called in this morning so I had my babysitter organised but they didn't call. I'm hoping for a family daycare place as well. There is only one Long Daycare around here and Darcy hated it so we are going to try family daycare.

Bron - How is the clean up going? I think daycare is great. They get to do things that you don't necessarily do at home. I think it helps them to become a little more independent too.

Rachelle - Your reflection was lovely to read. I have added you on FB.

AFU - When I was teaching last week, the Vice Principal said that they probably needed someone on Wednesday and Thursday so I've been waiting all week for them to call and thought they may ring first thing this morning but they didn't. I packed the car and my lunch last night just in case. Because I'm just starting out I don't want to say no, so I'm trying to be ready each day. (I live in a rural area so I have to take into account travelling time when they ring at 7.30am) I suppose in a few months I'll be able to pick and choose a bit better when I want to work. I'm not sure if that is making sense, I'm rambling a bit.

Anyway, today I'm taking Alana to Hey De Ho. Its a music and movement class. Darcy and I have been going for a couple of years and Alana has been since she has been born but today will be the first time just her and I. She loves to dance.

Tonight I'm going to see Alice in Wonderland with Ronny and my brother and a couple of others. I love going to the movies.

Have a great day everyone.

Bec just make sure you look into the competition. There is one in WA that goes around the shopping centers and nearly everyone that enters "wins" a category but if your a winner you are then expected to sell raffle tickets for them. Just make sure youre not going to be stuckdoing anything you dont want.

Well Hannah has orientation today. I dont think today will be too bad asthere will be 2 of her little friends there but when she goes all by herself she wont be on the same day as them because they were full. We will see how she goes.

On the good news front we have decided to have a third bub but not just yet. I dont think I could do three so close in age.

gtg its my friends little girls first birthday so need to give her a special birthday call.
beebs09
Hi all.

Thanks for adding me to facebook for those of you that did. Now I can put a face to a name and see those gorgeous babies of yours. biggrin.gif

Speaking of which. I see a few of you have done the cake smash pics. Can you tell me a bit about this. Did you just set up a white sheet in your own home? Did you bake the cake yourselves? And I see that each of your babies have matching nappies/undies, did you buy these first then make the cake to match? I really love all your pics and want to do some myself. Cheers for any info.

Bec. I think those baby quest things are harmless really. I see them as a good opportunity to get some good pics of bubs. I'm not interested myself, 1) because of time constraints 2) I don't need/want more special pics of bubs 3) I can't help but think about those little models I've seen docos about how they do them up to the max, like in little miss sunshine - what you're talking about would be completely different of course. So go for it if you want.

Rachel. I hope work settles down a bit for you and you can get a regular thing happening or at least better expectations. I'd hate to be mentally prepared for work each day and not having to actually go. You'll have to let me know how the movie is. I'm thinking of going to see it next week.

Jo. Could you give us a rough guide to your routine. We might be able to give you some ideas on the sleeping front. Nice reflection btw.

Bron. How are you guys fairing up now weather wise. I hope it's better than it sounds and that you have a straight forward tidy up. I know wet carpet can start to pong a bit until it's fully dried up. How did Hannah go today?

AFU. Had a house inspection today which went fine. I was up to 1am last night though finishing off cleaning up. It truly is amazing how productive you can be when bubs is in bed. Normally I just sit down and watch tv, but now I'm thinking maybe I should do a bit more housework and don't have to worry about it during the day. Hmm decisions. I decided to not try the controlled crying for the overnight feed. I mainly couldn't be bothered and I'm now working on a new routine for Elke. She is now having a bath after dinner each night and into her pj's, play for another hour or two then milk then bed. I'm trying to get her bedtimes a little earlier than 9.30pm. Just now she has gone to bed at 7pm, but this seems so early that I expect her to wake up before I go to bed. But then again she might not. DP is on an overnight business trip. This will be the first time we've been away from him for at least since Elke was born. Will be a bit weird but yay I get to hog the bed. original.gif . I'm also going to check out some episodes of house if I can find any, because DP hates it and I don't like watching tv during the day so now is my chance. Elke has her two 'fang' teeth coming through now. Hard to tell if it's bothering her. Definitely not the kind of teething trouble some of you have. That's all for now.

BB

debs79
Hi,

beebs How did you and Elke go last night? hope she slept well.

bron How did Hannah go at orientation? Hope she enjoyed it. Yay on deciding to go for a third! How is cleanup going over there? Saw it on the news over here and looked really bad.

rachel Saw on FB that you had a great night at the movies. Also loved the pics of Alanas birthday (think bec did them)

bec In regards to the competition I would check fully what it involves and what happens with the photos that are taken. If all looks good than I may think about doing it. So if you feel comfortable with it go ahead.

jo sorry to hear about Jems sleeping. Hope she settles back into a nicer routine for you.

AFU Had aplaydate today with my friend who has a boy 6 weeks older than Lizzie. Was great to catchup with her. Hoping for a quietish weekend as the next 2 are busy busy busy. We are going down to my parents for a couple of days over easter and then the planning for the 1st birthday the week after.

Just a question regarding milk. I am planning on going onto normal milk when Lizzie turns 1 (or should she be having the toddler mix?). How do I go about it? She is currently formula fed. Do I just completely stop formula or gradually introduce milk with a feed a day and slowly increase?

bron23
Deb if Lizzie is eating well theres not really any problem with her going onto cows milk instead of toddler formula. Hannah went onto milk just before 1 but Im not having much luck getting Imogen to drink it. She point blank refuses her bottle. I personally would just wean her onto the cows milk. That way if for some reason it doesnt agree with her then shes only had a bit of it. Hope you had better luck than us!

beebee I used to hate inspections. Although al least it meant we did at least one massive clean original.gif We still rent but my parents own our house so no inspections for us original.gif

Thanks for all the clean up questions. Our house is pretty much cleaned but if we have another downpour like that again in the next 3 months though we will be back at square one because we cant get anything fixed until then. The state govt has organised for help to come from interstate and declared Perth a natural disaster zone but its still a very long wait to get anything fixed. One of our friends had her car written off because of the hail damage to it only to drive home and discover over $120,000 worth of damage to her house. Its pretty upsetting.

Anyway must shoot off. Mothers group today will come back later for better persies
ronnyandcharlize
Hi everyone

Bec- my sister and cousin used to take there littlies to shopping centre comp things like that, it all seems harmless and fun, go for it if its what you want. Dont watch the show on cable about the little pageant girls and there bossy stage mums in America now those look rediculous!!!!!!!! How has Linc gone sleep wise after your seminar thingy? any changes? what tips where you given?

Rachel- thanks again for last night it was so nice to go out for longer then 1 hour on my own ( even though i constantly checked my phone thru the movie rolleyes.gif ) Cohen was great, he did wake twice but Pete gave him the dummy once then teething tablets and he went back to sleep i didnt feed him until 11.30 then he slept until 5.30 HEAVEN! the movie was great i thought, Charlize is hanging for her cinema trip in the holidays biggrin.gif

Bron23- thats terrible about the storm damages to some sad.gif glad to hear your house wasnt completely damaged. Yay to agreeing on a third! we are ttc now original.gif such a fun exciting time!

AFU- Cohens 4 eye theeth are so close to piercing thru thank god! and his appetite has picked up a bit since last weeks bug and the teeth etc. He has been a good little boy and gone to bed every night between 7 and 7.30 then usually wakes between 10-11 then maybe 3 hours later or 5-6 like last night biggrin.gif every nights different and with these teeth it doesn't help. And sometimes he wakes a bit between 7-10 but i just dummy pop or give him teething tablets. This will make the tooth talley to 16 oomg.gif Charlize had just 5 at 1 years old.
About the cows milk, Cohen is still fully breast fed , he does now also have a sippy cup of milk after lunch and loves it original.gif I plan to hopefully have him weaned off the boob by 1 ( he only has a night feed then thru the night when he wakes) he hasnt had any reactions to the cows milk and has actually had it in his cereal for ages now and has always had sips of ours etc. whatever. Im secretly hoping to the lunch milk keeps him fuller and helps the night slepe a bit more. I might soon start giving him a sippy cup of warm milk just before bed now and just a boob when he wakes thru the night until hey presto he doesnt wake and therefore no more boob! how do you think that plan might go? wink.gif

Reflections
Cohen has been such an adorable little man since birth, he is so smiley and happy all the time and loves everyones attention. I love that he now dances when the musics on, and that he plays peekaboo with his hands over his face to his big sister. He is so much fun to be around, he waves at everyone and throws kisses, he is very cuddly now and makes a big MWA sound when he gives open mouth kissise to me biggrin.gif he loves the outdoors, loves all animals and loves his big sister more then anything in the world, well maybe just as much as me and dad llove.gif he crawls around like a maniac and he has learnt how to chuck a little scotty when his sister tries to steal something he is playing with, its so cute he grunts and gets red in the face and she knows he is ticked off! I still can't believe that in two weeks from today my beautiful baby turns 1, the time has gone so fast and i think being the second it goes even quicker! Im really looking forward to his first birthday party with friends and family and im looking forward to watching this little boy grow up into a beautiful little lad, and judging by his eating habits and already big weight and growth stats im sure he is going to be way bigger then his sister ( who has always been a tall girl) i keep telling her not to annoy him to much now because soon enough he is going to be the one chasing her around the house, stealing all her toys and slapping her about when he doesnt get his way wink.gif i love how much he concentrates when i speak to him , and i can just tell her understands everythign im saying to him. I could sit here all day and go on about the love i have for him ( both my kids infact hheart.gif ) but i dont want to bore you all wink.gif If there was one con of course it would be that i wish this little monkey would sleep all night already! Hey after 1 he better be getting the knack rolleyes.gif one can still only hands.gif

on that note i will be heading off to bed now, hope everyones going well biggrin.gif

I've been awal again, not finding much time to sit at length in fromnt of the computer atm... and when I have it, I don't feel like doing it!!

Happy Birthday to Alana, Tho0mas and William, albeit belated. Wow, our babies are turning 1. Unbelievable.

Rach - sounds like you are in a real happy place atm. That's so great to hear.

Ronny - how is Cohen and Charlize now, all better?

Nat - Congrats!!! Immy is walking! Wow!!

Bron - how are y0u doing? What's it been like with Hannah in childcare. Sounds like it was the best thing you could do, for both of you really!!! I know I turn into a witch when sleep deprived.

Jess - how are you finding the balance now starting work?

Bec - Have fun at Linc's party this Sunday!!!

J-Lo - Good luck TTC, how e xciting!! DH and I are thinking towards the end of this year, but really, I wouldn't mind sooner....

Bec - re: Baby Quest - like the others have said, just read the fine print. I was thinking of entereing tara in the bonds comp but didn't in the end, coxz it was really just free/ cheap marketing for them, with Tara really gettin gon beenfit from the use of her photos ongoing so I didn't enter.

AFU - March has been such a busy month. And continues to be. Work, Weddings, going away, my bro being down, parties, just busy busy busy. An d DH has been working 7 days and long days, so it puts more pressure on me in those busy evening hours when everyothing happens - our dinner, tar's dinner, bath, changed, bottle, bed, disches, stuff readiy for the next day, etc. etc.. I have some meetings in Melb MOnday to try and get some ad hoc contract based work in org psychh, ordered some business cards so hpoperfully they'll come in the next week or so... and then hopefully I'll get some work!!

Tara is gorgeous. Being funny at times - she made herself spew the other day buy repeitively sticking her fingers sown her throughat??!!!

Love re4ading all your reflections. Not in the modd for one now but I want to do one for Tara's birthday, so will post once Ive done it.

Alreighty, gotta get going!! xoxoox

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Leanne PS sorry about all the spelling mistakes, I can't be bothered going over it and I'm speed typing!!!
rachelle2
Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!

We are having a day of it today!!! Xavier seems to only want one sleep during the day now - this is fine I am happy to oblige. Problem is this he is used to having two short sleeps ie 1hr 15mins, so he is going down around lunch time and only sleeping for an hour and 15 and waking up in the most FERAL of moods. There is no resettling and he is just a grump for the rest of the day sad.gif any pointers people - what should I do??????

Tears and tantrums all round this afternoon and I have had enough cry1.gif HELP!!!!!!!
bron23
sorry imogen hit enter little bugger
bron23
Rachelle have you tried closing his door. Imogen is at a stage now where she knows where if her door is still shut she knows that I will not come and get her. She has one biiigggg sleep (2 and a half-3 hours) but if I leave the door open she wakes up after about 40 mins. I hope you find something that works for you because I know I just want to curl up and cry when the tired tantrums start bbighug.gif
beebs09
Ooo I don't like tired tantrums. I just think if all their needs have been met ie clean, comfortable, fed, not in pain, and the only thing you can think of is it must be tiredness - I would give them their comforters dummy/blankie etc lye them back down, have a dark room, leave the room and close the door. Set yourself a task to do like make a cup of tea and drink it so as to take your focus away from his crying. If he's still crying when you finish your tea or whatever, I'd prob go back in and console the poor darling. It's tough. I like to give Elke a cuddle and let her fall to sleep on me if she needs it. But it doesn't happen that often. Good luck.

Elke has been going to bed earlier the past few nights which has been nice. 2 nights ago she went to bed at 7pm, waking up at 11pm then at 6am. So pretty good really. Last night was better going down at 8pm and sleeping until 6am. It felt so weird waking up and thinking omg I haven't gotten out of this bed since I got in it at 10pm. Excellent. I hope this continues and you fellow mummies with babies that wake up over night, have them sleeping through soon.

Leanne - good luck with getting some work. Hope this busy times don't stress you out too much.

Ronny- lovely reflection. Glad you enjoyed the movie. I'm likely going to see that on Monday. I'll be doing Elke reflection on her birthday I think. Will prob get some more emotions flowing then I reckon.

Bron - good to hear your housed is pretty much cleaned. Bummer about your friends.

Debs - On the topic of milk. Elke had her first cows milk bottle at childcare today. They said she wolfed it down. I'm excited about this because I'm over expressing. So from now on Elke will get cows milk at childcare. Even though she's not 12months yet, I thought it would be fine as I breastfeed her the rest of the time and she's had the cows milk with her weetbix for a while now. For you I would prob wean the formula and not bother with the toddler stuff unless Lizzie isn't eating a great diet.

be-e
Hi Girls,
Just a quick message from me.

Pinky McKay - was a great seminar on sleep, no real breakthroughs, but lovely to hear and get support about not needing to bow to pressure to do CC or other things that I dont feel comfortable doing, she is all about what feels right for you. Im not really explaining it well but have started to read her book on sleeping and it makes alot of sense.

Baby Quest - well we went and it was crazy and ridiculous! It wasnt well organised and there was too many people for the venue (in front of Coles rolleyes.gif ). Yes some people just have too much time on there hands, I wasnt going to hang around for 3 hours so we had lunch and did the food shopping. L did get judged but didnt win anything, it was all confusing and stupid cool.gif

Night all
Bec

me-mum
BB You have done so well to still be feeding as well as expressing, I wish that I had that sort of milk supply. Hope that the fang teeth are coming thru OK

Debs My MCH nurse recommended going to cows milk rather than toddler formula as long as they are having a normal diet. I started Harry on 1 formula feed a day when I went back to work but will change that to full cream milk when he is 1.

Bron Hope that there has been no further downpours for you. When does Hannah start doing childcare?

Ronny and Rachel Sounds like you both had a fantastic night out at the movies.

Leanne good luck for the trip to Melb on Monday. Hope that the contracting work happens

Rachelle We have had the same issue with Harry as he is trying to only do one sleep some days. I have tried resettling and sometimes it works but not always. If I end up with a grumpy boy, food always helps as does a change of scenery so we head out for a walk.

Bec We are a Pinky fan too. I have been to one of her talks and I love her practical methods.

Us Sounds like lots of people are in the planning for TTC #2 or #3. I'm apprehensive but officially trying.......... I can't believe that we are thinking about having another but I suppose that you never know how long it will take.

Work is going OK, I am currently there now (thus the time to type on EB!!). I lucked out in the roster and have to work good friday and easter sat but Couldn't really do much about it as I have only been back 3 weeks so I didn't think that I could demand it off.

Gotta go, it's almost handover time

Jess

Hi All,

Jess - another TTC'er, it's definitely a strange feeling to be at it again already, I agree. I would have started sooner, but AF only returned last month so I guess mother nature was trying to tell me something there. I'm also still BFing with no plans to stop just yet so that could add an extra dimension. It took 12 months last time, I hope it's a bit quicker this time round, but could handle it if it does take a while I guess. Glad to hear work is going well, pity about the shifts over Easter though.

Bec - glad to hear Pinky was good, I'd love to hear her speak, maybe I'll have to keep an eye out on her website. I've actually been fortunate enough to get online access to the ABA annual conference speakers and have heard some really great ones so far - haven't got through them all yet. Sue Cox was great, has anyone read her stuff? And Gill Ripley who is the baby lead weaning guru from the UK was brilliant - I've done BLW with Jem so it was great to hear her in person.

The baby quest sounds mad! You're right, who could wait three hours?

BB - I meant to reply to you earlier about weaning Elke off the night feeds. I did this with Jem just after Christmas, she was 8.5 months I think. I decided to because she was waking more out of habit then hunger, she wouldn't really feed when I offered the breast, and would fall asleep almost straight away. It worked a treat for us, either my husband or I would go into her when she woke and offer her a drink of water. She would usually have a tiny bit and then be fine to be put back in her cot and go back to sleep. She only did this for 3-4 nights and then started sleeping through. Having said that, I never intended to CC (just not my style) so we would always go to her if she woke (and still do when she wakes occasionally) and if necessary we would have rocked her until she was calm and then put her down again. Not sure if Elke is fully feeding when you go to her, if so this might not be useful at all. Though it sounds like you've had some good sleeps the last few nights anyway.

Rachelle - Hope the feral day didn't last too long with X. I've always struggled with Jem's sleep during the day so not much help here. Though I would second Bron's idea of closing the door, I've started doing this and it seems to help get from one sleep cycle to another without properly waking up - ie darker and quieter in there.

Leanne - You sure sound busy atm, hope you have some time to enjoy it all at least. Good luck getting some psych work.

Ronny - hope those teeth are all the way through by now and Cohen is feeling more like himself. He sure knows how to grow those things hey!! Beautiful reflection by the way.

And my two cents worth on the milk front. I'm still BFing Jem, but she's been having cow's milk on cereal for ages and as a drink every now and then (esp if I'm out) for a while. I plan to just introduce that more over the next few months, though she not that into it. My understanding is that toddler formula has absolutely no nutritional benefits over cow's milk, it's just a marketing ploy. Formula companies were banned some time ago from advertising infant formula (to help encourage breastfeeding) so they starting making what the termed toddler formula simple so that they could advertise their brand name. In fact a few of them have now been sued for claiming they help support the immune system etc, when there's no evidence to show that at all. Any, hope I haven't offended anyone with all that, just thought it might be useful to know.

AFU - Jem has just cut tooth number 7, it's towards the back so I missed it initially. It looks like there's 3-4 more just about to break through so we might be in for some interesting times ahead. Her tooth tally will then be 10-11 which astounds me, but it seems nothing compared with 16!!! Have had some better nights with her going down between 7.30-9 which is so much better than 12.30. Last night was a bit later but they were having a party next door, right outside her window, so you can't blame her for not sleeping well with that going on.

Off to our first footy match of the season on Sunday. Not sure how Jemima will go this year, she's not as content to just sit on my lap or sleep so I could be pacing around the stadium with her I think. Definitely taking the Baby Bjorn.

AF turned up on time just after my last post so no luck this month - though it was a pretty half hearted effort I must say. At least I know my cycles are nice and regular. Will try again this month though i think that would make the EDD 23rd Dec - argh - but after taking so long last time I'm not planning to skip months because of things like that.

That's it from me
Enjoy your weekend everyone
Jo

Happy birthday Ella for yesterday
rachelle2
Morning everyone - I hope you all had nice weekends!!

It is still raining here - so we are off to an indoor playcentre for mum's group today. Looking forward to it, as Mr X loves all the kids and excitement (as opposed to being stuck at home with mum). Tantrums of friday did settle down. Think until we are consistently doing the one sleep and he gets his pattern sorted out, I may be in for a few more. I do the same settling routine for his day sleeps as I do for his night sleeps - two books, into his sleep sack, sing twinkle twinkle, put him down say some sleep cues then leave the room and close the door - he always completely self-settles with no tears. So not sure why he won't take the longer sleep when he needs it but may just need a few days to get used to the later nap time and the fact that it will be his only one.

Thanks for the replies - I was ready to tear my hair out. Nothing I was doing would settle him down. So in the end I left him on the floor kicking and screaming until he just stopped, sat up and started playing with his toys rolleyes.gif .

Our weekend was very nice, catching up with friends and family. We are going camping over the easter long weekend, but expecting it to rain (always does up here at this time of year!!) so thinking we might have to head inland a bit! Was talking to DH yesterday and broached maybe him having a day of during the week so I could do three days a week at work. Thought I would put it out there. I earn more $$, still don't want to put X in daycare and want to increase my hours when I get pg again so I get the higher amount of paid mat leave etc. Anyway he is thinking it over, or I could just put X in daycare one day a week which also wouldn't hurt him. I just hate the idea of all the illnesses they seem to come home with...... We have been too spoilt as he has been such a healthy boy thus far......

Seems as though there is alot of us TTC again, I hope to see some BFP.gif very soon!! Maybe some of you might even make it into the same DIG's again - how great would that be!!

j-lo:- Hope Jem has been good to you as she is cutting all those teeth!! Xavier has 8 teeth now and I think is trying to cut some molars - they keep going up and down. Poor little mites it must be so uncomfortable for them. Hope the footy was good and Jem enjoyed it!!

me-mum:- LOL about the food and change of scenery - I feel like I am always plying him with food to keep him quiet and feel like such a bad mum sad.gif but I often take him out in the pram when he is grumpy for a walk as that always helps! Until we get home.........LOL. We are also TTC but not expecting anything to happen as Mr X was an AC. I had originally said we would see FS in Oct but am leaving it now until the new year. Currently trying to lose my over indulgence in pregnancy weight biggrin.gif . Good luck to you!!

be-e- Glad Pinky McKay was good - if nothing else some reassurance you are doing the right thing always helps!! I think that she is right - your comfort in doing things is the key, and he will settle down for you. Hope the book helps. I too figure that X will sort himself out in his own time. He was sleeping through, then was waking HEAPS in the night, then slept through again, then woke heaps again and is now waking once with the occasional sleep through. I guess with so much happening developmentally, teething etc there are so many factors that can influence sleep. If I truly felt that there was nothing else going on I would let him cry - but I DON"T know if he is in discomfort or not so I always go in give him a cuddle and some water and he usually settles back down very quickly. Loved the photos of Linc's party - looks like he had a great day!! I am so excited for X's!! Happy Birthday to Lincoln for tomorrow!!

beebs09:- So glad that Elke is sleeping better for you, it makes such a difference when you get some good rest!! Hope it continues for you. Ours seems to go in patches, I guess it is always changing as are they! Thanks for the advice re day sleeps - and tired tantrums are the pits!!

bron23:- Thanks for the advice re tired tantrums! Glad I am not the only one who wants to curl up and cry once they set in!! Hope your girls are being good to you!

Leanne:- Life sounds very busy for you at the moment - hope you are enjoying it all!!

Hi to all I missed!! Better get off here and get X some breakfast!!
Juni
Just quickly as need to go and mop the floors before Jem gets up from his nap. We had his 1st birthday party on the weekend!!!!!!!!!! Whoopie!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't believe he is almost one and that we've had his big celebration. He had a big sleep in the morning which was great.. he was getting a bit tired by 3.30pm when we did his cake - a tower of cupcakes with monkey faces on them. The weather held up and all our friend's kids were able to run about outside. I'm looking forward to a few quiet days.. DD is on hols from kinder, so we can just kick back and do our own thing original.gif

Jem has been pulling up to standing at the coffee table and is slowly branching out and pulling up on other things now - the cutest thing is when he comes up to one of us and holds onto our leg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!! It feels like he is asking us for something or making it known that he is a person and can get about and join in and everything.. very cute. This morning he is getting up VERY efficiently and easily.. I can't believe how quickly he is progressing now. I have to get a picture of him on his baby quilt to show how much he has grown - good luck in trying to get him to hold still enough to take the pic!
My3kiddies
Sorry I have missed so many post lately. Just had a very busy couple of months and now we have to move house again as we got that dreaded letter to leave. So busy getting ready for that. We are applying for a house today so wish us luck. Plus I got 2 birthday's to do this months too. Don't know how I am going to do it all and a bit worried about money too.

I will get in here hopefully after we move. Everything so up in the air atm.

Wishing everyone's bub a Happy 1st Birthday that I have missed and the one's that I will miss in the next few weeks. Can't wait to move. It's going to be like a new start to us. Plus this house we are applying for is in town again so I won't feel so isolated and its only a 2 min walk to Skye's school. biggrin.gif

Juni
Tracy - good luck with the move, it would be fantastic to be so close to the schools and shops!

With the birthdays - lots of friends have recommended doing a Maccas party (for older kids) saying its no fuss and cheaper to organise.. otherwise go for an afternoon tea in the local park - you can get away with cupcakes, a slice, something savoury, and a few bottles of soft drink.
me-mum
Happy 1st Birthday Lincoln!! hope that he has a fantastic Day Bec.

Tracy Good luck with the house application. Hope that it provides you with a new and fresh start. Sounds like a busy month with 2 kids birthdays. Are you on school holidays yet?

Rachelle Hope that you have a great camping trip over Easter but hope that rain holds off. We were planning a camping trip a month ago but DH injury changed those plans. I like your idea about increasing hours to add to mat leave pay, particularly as you earn more $$. I have had DD in daycare 1 day a week for almost 12 months now and she has never come home with an illness but I know that isn't the case for everyone. Good luck for whatever you decide.

j-lo Good luck for taking Jem to the footy - I haven't tried a public event like that yet with either of them but I remember that you seem to have had some success with it last season.

Us I had a feral shift at work yesterday - by the time I got to the end of it I was seriously thinking of resigning. It's only been 3 weeks but I am still struggling with trying to get out the door on time and get thru everything that needs doing in the shift. Heaps of things changed whilst I was away and I'm still trying to find out passwords to access some of the computer things that I now need to do. I think that in the future I will consider looking at a position where I don't need to do night duty or weekends as I hate loosing out on family time.

In the last few days, Harry has started to show signs that he is about to walk by himself. He keeps letting go of things and attempting to take steps away from furniture. He has either been balancing for a few seconds or falling to a heap (as he tends to try and run rather than walk) but it is very cute and sure to keep us all on our toes.

Have been to the park to meet friends this morning and my brother is coming over this afternoon as it's my birthday today. We are going to have takeaway for dinner and I have made a really yummy truffle mud cake for after - it's soooo evil (6 eggs, 2 blocks of chocolate, double cream, brown sugar and Cointreau - can you think of a better combination!!!) Hope that the kids arn't on too much of a sugar high to go to sleep tonight!!

Hope that you are all having a great day

Jess

Hi ladies!

Happy 1st Birthday to Lincoln! Hope he has a fantastic day!

Wow sounds as though we have a few who are now TTC - how exciting! Lets hope for some baby news soon!

Quick update on us - going very well! Imogen walking everywhere! Can't believe how quickly she has gone from taking a few steps only a couple of weeks ago to being very confident on her feet now and easily walking the whole house. It's fantastic and she loves it! She has just cut another couple of teeth so the tally is up to 7 (she's got a few more to get before she catches Cohen though!!) She 'made' us an Easter card at Daycare yesterday and also a little Easter basket which she painted herself and had some yummy goodies in it. So cute!
We have had some wonderful news too - DH has finally got a new job. It's going to be fantastic - he starts in a couple of weeks. Better hours, better pay - couldn't ask for anything better really! We are both so pleased!

Had mums group this morning - one of the girls announced she's pregnant - due a couple wks after me. So that's 3 out of our group of 7 who are pregnant with #2 - very exciting!

Everything going well with me - I'm 16wks now and had a midwife appt last Friday - heard the heartbeat for the first time. What a lovely sound that is! Got my next scan booked for 16th April and hoping to find out bubs sex!

I was planning to come in for some persies but Immi has just woken so i wont be able to stay. Hope to get back in soon to catch up with you all.

Chat soon

What a special day today!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE LINCOLN!!

And,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESS!!

Bec - I hope you and your family had a nice day with Linc today..

Jess - Have a great dinner with your Bro tonight! I wish you could send a piece of your cake to me through cyber space. It sounds delicous! I'm sorry you had a bad shift at work. Let's hope it was a 'one off' and things improve really quickly for you...

Nat - Glad to hear everything's going well with the pg.. And what great news to hear about your DH's job! It sounds like things are going along beautifully for you all atm...

Bron - hugs to you.. I hope you don't end up with an ear infection. That'd suck! Any sign of Immy's teeth popping through? Hopefully you'll get more rest soon..

Tracy - Fingers crossed you get the house you've applied for. It sounds pretty perfect for you. Don't stress about not getting on here as often. Just a quick "hello, we're alive and well" every now and then is all that's needed!

Juni - It's nice to hear your party went so well. Phew for the weather!

Rachelle - Good luck with TTC. It's very exciting!!! I know how you feel about the extra work before maternity leave. I had to do the same when I was pg with Callum. Because he was 5 wks early, I only ended up being full time for a month (which was hard enough with an 1.5 hr commute each day for child care and work).. Have a great camping trip - where are you going??

AFU - All ok here. We're just in the process of getting over the latest rounds of colds. Both boys were home from cc on Friday/Monday with high temps and the usual stuff. They went back today, and managed to last the day ok. Callum's coming along with his walking. He's so cute! He's so unstable and wobbly, but you can see the determination in his face (and his disappointment when he falls!)...

What is everyone doing for Easter?? We don't have much on, except a picnic on Good Friday with friends. I'm making a concerted effort to have my DS1 toilet trained by the end of the holiday, so I don't want to venture too far from home. I've had enough of man pooh!!

Better get dinner going. It's raining here and all I feel like doing is curling up on the couch in front of the tv (not much sleep last night with Callum coughing all night, which woke Harry, who ended up sleeping with us - bad combo!)...
debs79
Happy 1st Birthday Lincoln

Happy Birthday Jess

lou
I kinow what you mean about the colds. I think we have finally got rid of them all here. Goodluck with the TT

Nat Glad all is going well. Congrats to DH on the job. Will be watching for news on the 16th!

Bron I hope things start looking up for you soon bbighug.gif

Jess Sorry to hear about work. Have a great time with your Brother. Well done Harry on the walking front.

Tracy Goodluck with the house. Dont worry about not getting on to often. Just when you can with a quick hello is fine.

Juni Sounds like the party went well. And the weather tongue.gif . I love the leg hold. Lizzie started doing that a couple of weeks ago.

To all those TTC GOODLUCK!!!

We will prob start TTC again in a few months.

Milk Thankyou to all those that replied. I might start her on one bottle a day of cows milk and then slowly wean from the formula. I am pretty sure her tin of formula at DC is about to run out so will let them know to just give her milk (she only has 2 bottles there).

Easter We are going down to mum and dads on thurs - sat. And relaxing on the mon - sun (unless we have to do something with the IL)

AFU Still no walking here, though plenty of pulling up and scooting on the furniture. She still only says daddy (and lots of babble). She also currently has this curl on the top of her head, it is so cute. Though still doesnt have much hair. Hoping to catch that curl in a clip for her party next weekend.

Will try and get back on before we leave on Thurs
MeLFunKTioN
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh no internet for a whole week !! finally back online (telstra issues if anyone has been following on Facebook!)

Will be back later to TRY catch up ! Elises birthday party at mums group tomorrow so need to make a cake !!

If anyone wants to add me to FB i'm Melissa Harris and i have a pic of a lil blonde-ish kinda girl with her head tilted on the side. lol !

Right ! off to do some baking (going to be a late night!!!)

P.s... so so jealous of those TTC'ing !!!
Juni
rachelle - I am always stuffing J full of food to make sure that this isn't the problem with getting him settled - hope I'm not causing any problems with this but I figure that if he's still opening his mouth then I'll put food in it wink.gif DS has been upset about going down for his morning nap recently and we finally tried feeding him a bit more brekkie and he went down much easier afterwards. They can growth spurt so easily at the moment and need to eat a bit more some days then others. That said, yesterday and today, he's barely eating a thing and settled fine with that.. not sure whats going on sad.gif Similarly to others, he's crying out a bit when going down for his afternoon nap now -- he's definitely tired and I have to leave him to cry for a bit before he settles (yesterday was only 5 mins, bit longer the day before).

me-mum - Happy Birthday!! That cake sounds DIVINE! Enjoy eating it! original.gif

natandimmi - Congrats to your DH on the new job - wonderful news! How cool that another MG mum is due so close to you!

Good luck organising all those birthday parties!! original.gif My birthday is Saturday, then Easter on Sunday, then Jem's birthday on Monday.. since he's had his party already, I'm not really sure what we'll actually do on the day of his b'day.. and not sure if my family will come and visit us a THIRD time in consecutive days!! wink.gif I think i will make mini cupcakes and let him eat a few and of course he'll get birthday presents from us on the day.. we've even picked something out for DD to give to him.

Morning ladies.

Happy Birthday Linc for Tuesday
Happy Birthday Jess
Happy Birthday Elise
Happy Birthday Juni
Happy Birthday Jem

Sorrr if I missed anyone

TTC - Lots of ladies starting to TTC again. I started when DS was around 1 too. Had a bit of a break though when I went to Uni and got pregnant half way through uni. Goodluck to those TTC now. I hope its a pleasant and quick journey.

Food and Growth spurt - MCHN said Alana was probably going to have a growth spurt soon after plotting her growth on her chart. She was just under the 50 percentile. She has been around 50 percent since born. I'm not sure if this is a great predictor of growth spurts but thats what the nurse said.

I think Alana eats alot for someone so little. She has three meals and two snacks. After she has had her dinner in the evening (usually whatever we're having) I make sure she is full by filling her up with either yoghurt or pureed fruit. She has been sleeping great at night (mostly) and I'm think this is partly due to being full when she goes to bed.

Mel - no internet for a week! I'd really struggle. I'm very addicted.

Debs - Hope you have a nice time at your Mum & Dad's. Lizzie's curl sounds gorgeous.

Lou - I hope your sickness is improving. Its horrible have sick kids. Thankfully since rearranging our childcare we haven't had any sickness again. Enjoy your Good Friday picnic.

Nat - Thats great news your DH got a new job. Its fantastic that Imogen is getting more confident with her walking. You will really appreicate it when you get towards the end of your pregnancy and when the new baby is born.

Bron - When is the party? They are a lot of hard work but I love 1st birthdays. We're is your second honeymoon to? We are planning a weekend away without kids around that time too. Not sure where yet. Maybe just the city (Melbourne).

Jess - I haven't done shiftwork but my parents do and my bestfriends. I can see a lot of negatives for them but also some positives. If shifts can be coordinated between parents it can mean there is at least one parent home most of the time and reduces the need for childcare. It can also mean the parents never see each other and when they do they are tired and grumpy. You know all this anyway. A day job might be easier when the kids are at school and you don't have to worry about childcare? I hope you had a lovely birthday.

Tracy - I hope the move goes smoothly for you. Being walking distance to school will be great.

AFU - We're going camping again this weekend. We haven't not been camping during a long weekend since June last year. I'm ready for a holiday in a luxury hotel. roll2.gif We bought the camper trailer so now we have to use it. Anyway, this time we are going with friends so that will be nice. They have older kids who will keep Darcy entertained.

Alana is such a delightful happy baby girl. She is babbling alot. Pulling up on the furniture but not cruising it yet. Sleeping all night (mostly). She has started having one long sleep some days. If we are in the car she may sleep in the morning and then again in the afternoon. But at home she has an early lunch and is in bed by 11.30 or 12 and is sleeping until 3pm.

Happy Easter everyone.

Afternoon ladies!

Jess - Happy belated birthday for the other day. How was the cake? It sounded delicious!

Bron - wow sounds like Imogen is going to have a great party! Your second honeymoon sounds exciting. Where are you going?

Lou - good luck with the toilet training. How old is Harry? Was talking to a friend from work this morning who's little girl has just turned 2 and has decided she wants to use the toilet now. How fantastic is that! They are very lucky. I hope i can have Imogen trained by then too.

Debs - Lizzie's curl sounds very cute indeed!

Rachel - enjoy your camping trip!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELISE!!!

Milk - Imogen is starting to wean now and is not interested in the lunchtime feed anymore (which means no more lunch time cuddles for me at day care sad.gif ) So i have started giving her cows milk in her sippy cup. Took her a few days to get used to it (i just had it watered down to start with) but now she loves it and drinks between 120-180ml at lunch time but still feeding from me morning and night. After she turns one i will drop the other 2 feeds and just give her cows milk. I'm looking forward to weaning her but will miss those special cuddles too!

Easter - Quiet one planned here. My parents are coming for lunch on Saturday and then off to DH's sisters for tea Sunday night.

Have a fantastic Easter everyone!

Nat

Hi,

Nat - wow thats alot of milk, I wasnt sure how much to give Linc so have only been giving him around 70ml in a sippy cup. I think Ill give him the big sippy cup with more milk in it for lunchtime now. L has weaned the day feed too, so I dont go to daycare anymore sad.gif it was a little hard the first full day away, with no lunchtime cuddles.

Rach - have fun at camping

Becky - good luck TTCing

Juni - happy birthday for Saturday

Lou - good to hear that the sickness has gone, we just got over it at our house and Linc has a bit of a cold again grrr its not even winter yet!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes for Linc he had a great day. His party was such a great day, we had 50+ over at our house so was busy, but had alot of help so I had a really nice day. Linc was spoilt! On his actual bday we went to a play centre with Rach and Ronny.

Reflection on the last year - Im so amazed at how much joy Lincoln has bought to our lives, the simpliest little things he does makes DH and I melt with pride and love. I love every minute I spend with him and love to see him learn new skills and become confident with these skills.

Easter - we are off to Wilsons Prom for a couple of days. L hasnt really slept well in a porta cot so Im a little concerned as last time we were there we went through some pretty major sleep problems so Im really hoping we are past them and this doesnt disrupt him again, we would like to be able to leave the house after 7pm some day rolleyes.gif

Jem has been soooo busy at the moment - learning lots of things, doing lots of mimicing. He waved for the first time today and continued to do it all day - was so excited about it by the end of the day, waved goodbye to DH and DD after goodnight hugs and kisses, then kept practicing his waving while I was BFing him before bed... too cute!

Earlier in the day, DH also tried to encourage him to put his hands on his head and he obliged! Very cute original.gif Plus, I've had him outside on the play equipment and trying to encourage him to climb the slide stairs.. not much progress so far.

Busy day tomorrow - going out for lunch.. hoping for a bit of R&R with DH looking after the kids a bit more - I can only hope!! wink.gif

I think that Jem is weaning himself from the lunchtime feed as well. He's not drinking much so I'm thinking of not offering it tomorrow.. I really don't think he'll miss it. He's clamping on a bit too hard at the moment, so I'm more then happy to drop another feed!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy birthday little Jeremy! I hope you have a wonderful day!

It seems I've missed a few other special days also, so a happy belated birthday to Marley, Maddie and Liam.

Elise - How was your day? I hope you had a wonderful first birthday and that you had lots of fun with your big sisters.. Sorry I'm so late to pass on my cheers.

Debs - I'm glad you had a nice time with family.

Bron - I hope work's been ok for you this weekend. At least you'll have next weekend to spend some more time at home (perhaps?).

Juni - I hope you had a great birthday too... What a busy time! It sounds like you're having great fun with Jem. This is a good age, when they're learning so much - and so quickly!

Bec - I saw some of the pics on facebook from Lincoln's party. It looks like everyone had a great time. I can't believe you had 50+ people!!! What a super mum! How was the clean up afterwards? I also hope everything went well down at Wilson's Prom. How'd the portacot go?

Rachel - I hope you had a nice camping trip away too!!

Hi to everyone I've missed!!!!! I hope you are all enjoying the Easter break. I've been doing nothing but cleaning up number 1's & 2's from my DS1. The TT is not going at all well.. cry1.gif

Callum is walking everywhere now. He's so cute to watch. He spends his entire time up to mischief, so I am feeling particularly worn out chasing both him and his big brother around. Oh well, I guess the up side is that they're the best of friends and are usually up to trouble together... Very cute..

My DH is away for 4 days on a residential uni trip. So I just hope I can make some progress with DS and his TT by the time he returns. To all those with toddlers, was child care a help or hindrance in this regard? They are both off to cc tomorrow, and I'm worried that the very small progress I've made will be destroyed by the time they get home. I guess only time will tell.

I've got a few minutes to myself, so I might go and get dinner organised early.

Enjoy what's left of the holiday!!!!!!

Hi everyone,

Hope you all enjoyed some family time over the easter break and consumed lots of chocolate biggrin.gif I must stop consuming chocolate now as it isn't part of the weight loss program mellow.gif . We went camping for the weekend and had a really nice time. Went to Innot Hot Springs so inland and managed to dodge the rain for the most part which was great! Starting to get ready for the big 1st birthday party next weekend, lots to do between now and then.

Mr X's grumpiness is still ongoing. The molars seem to come up and are bulging then they go back down again. Not sure if that is the cause - he has had an upset tummy, unsettled nights and tugging at his ears.... I feel like I am constantly blaming teeth!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Jeremy, Elise, Maddie and Juni!!

lou-t:- All the best for the TT I hope your DS1 gets the hang of it very soon!! I can only imagine how busy you are running around after the two of them now!!

bron23:- Lucky you - two long weekends in a row!!

Juni:- It is amazing how they go through these huge developmental leaps! All the best with the weaning of breast feeds, you have done so well to get this far.

be-e:- Hope Linc slept well for you on your camping trip!! I think it is hard for them as they get so used to having certain sleep situations and outside of those it is harder for them to settle and re-settle. X certainly did NOT sleep all that well - kept waking at 4.30 ready to go for the day!

RB27:- Hope your camping went well also. I feel like that sometimes too, the thought of camping in a 5 star hotel seems so much more appealing - even more so if I could have Xavier babysat for the weekend wink.gif

Hi to all I missed, hope everyone is doing well and had a great easter!
Juni
Woohoo.. all the partying is over! What a mad long weekend! My family were at my place pretty much every day.. its all good though, we all pull up a chair outside and lounge around - it was FANTASTIC weather this weekend.. loved every sun ray..

DD OD'd on chocolate (she's only 3!!) and could not get to sleep on Sunday night.. was up until about 9.30pm with lots of visits from Mum & Dad. We're making it so that she can have a few of her Easter eggs for morning tea and then thats it for the day.. so we'll be working off her stash over a pretty long time!! I'm so over chocolate overdoses though (DD and how cranky the sugar overload tends to make me) and am very, very tempted to just dispose of some of it.. Surely it is obscene for a 3 year old to possess that much anyways? and I definitely don't do choc and sugar so well in my old age (ha - just turned 35). Decisions, decisions.. I probably won't do anything, just very tempted and we certainly wouldn't miss it! rolleyes.gif

In a way, we didn't have too much of a rest over Easter as we were so busy organising ourselves for the different events. DH fell asleep on the couch around 8pm last night and slept till 7am this morning -- hope he feels better! I tossed and turned all night though.. I don't think I'm allowed to sleep anymore sad.gif

I have to take the car into the insurance today to get the hail damage assessed - its pretty much every panel on the car.. rats to being in the city for the big stones that day!!

I got to hold a little 5 week old last week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So cute and the little guy fell asleep in my arms.. its so gorgeous how easily they fall asleep in people's arms. Its so nice to enjoy someone else's little bub for a little bit and not have to deal with all the hi-jinks overnight!!!!!!!!!!

ETA - I have put some pics of Jem up in my blog if you want to have a squizz. I will probably do another one in a couple of days with some favourites from the year.
happymonkey
Juni - loved the cake and the photos of J on the blanket! I look forward to hearing how you are getting on during our second year with the little one!

RACHELLE 2 - I hope Mr x settles for you soon! I hate teeth!!!!

Lou- t - All the best for the tt. great that your boys are best friends! so cute.

Silly question from me - I just brought a winter sleeping bag from target. I noticed the lightweight and this winter sleeping bags have all got a hole at the front and back. What is it for? is it for the boys? (haha, not being sexist....maybe for girls too). Is it for us to peek through and look at the nappy? Anyway, I sewn it up Tounge1.gif because Miss P's toes are always sticking out.
