We get most of our books from the library, as DS (nearly 2.5) likes new ones, but two of the durable favourites are Uno's Garden (Graeme Base) and Charlie Cook's Favourite Book (Julia Donaldson & Alex Scheffler). DS has liked these for ages, and I can't see the attraction waning anytime soon (for him or me!) He's a bit over the Green Sheep. ATM he's also into Hairy Maclary and other Lynley Dodd books (like the Nickle Nackle Tree). Oh, and pretty much any large-format coffee table book with interesting photographs.

Oooh, that's a big favourite in this house too. I only heard about it from watching Friends when Joey read it as a monologue for Rachel's baby, and thought it was so sweet. Had no idea if it was a real book, but I googled the recurring passage and found it on Amazon! So sweet, although the mum is a bit of a stalker towards the end when she travels across town and lets herself into her grown son's house and bedroom in the middle of the night to watch him sleep

I always say to DD, don't worry, mummy won't do that to you

Mem Fox is popular in our house.
Toffee in Trouble the twins like as some of the words are written in different writing and they like to say them.
Hippo's Can Swim, Big and Little, The Muddled Up Farm - came in a book pack from Target.
Guess How Much I Love You is also one they love hearing.
Am I the only person who hates Dr Seuss and has done since being a kid ?
We get some of our books from second hand bookstores, and the book packs from the post office and Target are good too.

My Mum and Granny also saved our favourite books from when we were young so we have a lot of second hand books too.

WHere do we get them all from?

3 children, 7 years of buying for birthdays, Christmas', pre-school and school scholastic catalogues. I don't actually think I've spent more than $15 on a book and that 2 coffee and banana bread around here

we also belong to the 3 libraries around us and find time to visit at least 1 weekly. when something becomes a keeper (especially for Mr 6) then we'll go and start to collect the set.
