Party of Five
I have worn my hair the same since I was in high school and think it's time for a change. My hair is very long and thick and it takes a lot of tint to colour it, which more $’s for me to pay out. So now that I need to have my hair coloured cause you can see my grey hair it’s time for a change. So I’m not very tall about 5’2 and have a round face, I think. So give me your ideas!

Photo of me taken in January

I’m going to get my hair done this Thursday so any help before then would be great!

I'm a big fan of shoulder-length bob styles. Short enough that it's not heavy, long enough that i can put it in a pony if i'm not in the mood. Your face might be a bit oval for it though, I'm a little more heart-shaped, and curly.

I like the look of a bob but I think you may be right about the shape of my face blush.gif

I have similar hair to you and have recently put layers in it..the front only as I was chicken to do it all but I love it and will layer the whole lot soon but keep the length. I've had so many comments on how YOUNG I look now....wow..did I really look old before ohmy.gif

i think the style that Kelly Clarkson has in the above photo would be perfect but a bit longer. Have the layers come down below your shoulders. You could always go shorter next time.

I wouldn't go a blunt fringe like in your photo as they are quite hard to manage and not everyone pulls them off.

good luck!

I also love the Kelly Clarkson photo ( 2nd photo). I am the same as you. My hair has been the same style for as long as I can remember. The colour slightly changes from dark to light but the style is the same boring look. I also have a round face and find it hard. My problem is my hair is thin and very slow growing. I'd love to cut my hair like the 2nd photo but if I didn't like it then it would take years to grow back long.

I have always had long, thick hair, although lighter than your (mouse brown without colour in it LOL). I went to shoulder blade length for my first big chop, and then to just past my shoulders with some soft layers in the front for a long time. I can't do layers all over, it goes boofy, but I need to keep some weight out of it so my hairdresser does what she calls "channel cutting" through it every 2 or 3 cuts. She basically cuts very fine channels through my hair right down to the scalp. You can't see it at all but it really takes the weight out.

I have avoided a fringe since I was a kid as I thought it would not suit me, and because I have a round face and thought it would make my face look fatter. I had one cut in just last week and I LOVE it. It actually makes may face look thinner. It's a little less blunt than the one in your pic, but it's about the same length, and the rest of my hair is about the same length too. Best change I've ever made to my hair!

I got bangs today and I love it. Makes me look way younger. the hair stylist asked which Uni I went to! lol

I got layered shoulder length with bangs and I was going to get a wave bionic perm but it's easy enough to style it myself so I left it straight.

a little bit like this hair style

with long hair, you would look great with a setting perm and colour, just a light body wave perm from about your mouth down. It's really easy to look after, just let it dry naturally or blow dry it (will be straight) then just twirl the locks in your fingers to create waves.

It basically looks like you got it professionally set every time. It makes your hair really healthy too and shiny. The perm lasts between 6mths to 1 year. It's brilliant. It's nothing like awful traditional perms.

Sal78 I love those soft curls, but just the word PERM sends me running for the hills... I still recall the horror of a hairdresser perming my blunt cut fringe!

I know what you mean! I had the nickname Ronaldinho for awhile.

But these are done the same way as bionic hair straightening. Using a relaxant but instead of straightening, they can set it to whatever style you like. It's also called a setting perm. It's good if you like setting your hair with rollers as that's what it looks like. It's very natural. Leave the fringe though!!
