GOLD my secon in nearly 2 years
BLONDIE: I have worked as a kitchen designer for 7 years. I know lots about the finishes as I still do the odd contract kitchen job. If you want help or have ?'s PM me. Stone is definately worth it though, i would never have laminate again! Plus if resale is an issue stone will still look like new in 5-10years time laminate will not and colour selectins date the laminate
WEIGHT : I am not overweight in the healthy BMI range just would like to be on the lesser end at my married weight. Don't know if I am just being delusional, I just have a fear of getting PG big anf fat again, don't get me wrong not huge on PG standards, just 'I' felt huge
KEY: great work on the party. I agree must be a '4' attitude thing, it is driving me insane. Such cheek and total dismisal of my requests to her

Silver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Silver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
yay!
So hot and steamy here. I've been planting broad beans out the front with DD (and acorns - I hope they don't grow though really.)
Dd is a bit random - we may get some beans in odd places.
I am feeling exhausted aftr that. I feel basically fine, but bending over really does me in. Too much baby in the way.
Sarina - I say go for it! I would do as blondi suggests, and just try to be super healthy while PG, and not put much on. I don't put much on while PG, but as I am starting off near the top of the Overweight BMI it is just as well.
I really want to lose wome weight after this baby - I feel it may be now or never. I lost plenty after DD without even trying, but I think with Jasper not sleepign I have just been so tired for so long that getting fit and healthy has gone totally by the wayside. Also we tend to eat kid-friendly food - pasta with cream and ham and cheese etc, and sausages and fish fingers, and less real red meat. Last night we went out for indian though and both kids ate it up, so maybe I need to branch out a bit on the food.
I am loving this long weekend!!!

Seepi I'm also planning to lose the weight after this pregnancy. I don't think I'll put much on, I doubt I've put on much/anything yet and I think I'm 23w. I'm going to do Weight Watchers I think as all of my DIY efforts have failed. Time for some structure! Will probably join as soon as possible after baby is born, maybe around September.
Sarina what do you think about engineered stone kitchen benchtops? Agree with Seepi re TTC/weight: just go for it and simultaneously try whittle off a few kilos (nothing drastic like meal replacements etc...).

A new thread already? Oh my gosh!
I found with my 2nd child, I was soooo busy the 1st few months that the weight seriously just fell off! I got back to my pre pg weight a lot sooner the second time. But then as I wasnt BF'ing I really wasnt looking after myself in the beginning and eating was not a priority.
Yes attitude 4 year old here also. We are very firm and she gets away with not much! 5 in a few weeks...cannot believe it!
I told her she was getting a bike for her birthday as a main present and then a few other little things. She told me NO bike! LOL. So asked in another thread difference and opinions for Nintendo DS and Leapster 2. Anyone else have an opinion on either of these?
DH and I are now thinking we might wait and get her the DS for xmas instead. She is a very crafty kid, not sitting down and being braindead and playing 'games'. I just dont think she would have the patience for one of these at the moment. She is always in her room and making books and drawing etc.
Dh and I are cheering at the Melbourne massive hailstorm yesterday! He may fly down with a work colleague Tuesday and suss it out...might mean no O.S. trip if they can make good money! $$$$
Better go and feed her! LOL

I'm just having a break. So far today I have washed and cleaned out a car, done the bathroom, cleaned the pram, done 2 loads of washing and vaccumed. Need to wash the floors and I am done. Till tonight once it cools down and I will get stuck into the ironing. Waiting for DH to get home with the Patrol so I can put the car seat in that for our drive tomorrow. Once I have done that we are heading over to my mum's for dinner and a play with my sister and nephew.
Sarina - You could become my new best friend. We are currently trying to work out our kitchen design. The pressure is on now as we have to work out final layout so the slab can go down.
Hmmm the floors are calling. Might get stuck into the dusting as well.

BELLYG: How on earth do you loose weight while PG?
How have you managed not to put anything on?
BENCHTOPS: Engineered ones.... Well some are great others are not! ESSA STONE is fantastic I would have this in a heartbeat if I wanted an inbetween alternative but, Corian is terrible.
ELLANGEL: We are also very firm (ok maybe DH a little more than me) We took away her TV for 2 days due to her 'attitude' and lack of manners lately. I tell you must be the age.
I am just sick of counting her 1,2,3 and sending her to time out. Seems not to be working so well anymore, so maybe removing items she likes eg, barbies, dvds and tv rights
SEEPI: As i said to BellyG, how do you not put on weight. I exercised and ate reasonably well but still gained 13kg

I also worry that when you are tired you tend to grab any 'bad' food as you just need the sugar hit and can't be bothred eating well
TRINY: Ask away about the kitchen
Great cleaning, I have cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, striped the beds and washed the towels but still need to get into the garden but can't be bothered

Sarina that is what we thought about the stone, that it will last and will still be in good condition when we want to sell. We also had this idea that if we have stone it will say to the buyer that we haven't done a cheap reno. So many of the houses we looked at when we were hunting you could see they had done renos before selling but everything was cheap and nasty, so it looked shiny and new but you could tell that it would not last. After looking at quite a few yesterday we are thinking of possibly white/neutral cupboards with darker stone benchtops, WDYT? Not sure what we would go with for cupboards but possibly laminate as we will need to cut costs somewhere

Excellent Cleaning Triny and also Sarina! I love hearing about it all!! LOL. We have also had a day of doing all this around the house, especially if Dh is going to go away soon. Pool done, mowing, vacuum, bathrooms cleaned, toys sorted, girls bedroom tidied.
Holli was up again last night at 2am...temp again so must be her teeth. Gave her panadol and some milk as I felt sorry for her.!! LOL. She was not upset, just restless and hot.
Sarina - Yes, I send Ella to her room and also threaten to take toys away. I dont do the 1.2,3...actually, come to think of it, that never worked for us, "she would just mutter 4, 5, 6 back at us!

MUCH to my annoyance.
Ella used to have a lot of attitude but it is getting better lately.

Afternoon everyone,
4 year olds - isn't it known as the fu...ing 4s????? LOL!! Yep we had major 4 year old attitude here...however, I have good news to report, the 5s seem to be much better so far. They are just testing the boundaries to see what they can get away with. Confiscating favourite things really worked for us. Now if K does anything that is 'not on' he gets sent to his bedroom and he hates being sent there, he cries.
kitchen benches - we have ceaserstone...the colour is called cashmere, a browny tone as we have brown tones in our house. Cubpoards are a gloss type finish and they are like a boney colour.
Sharon - I have done two loads of washing, cleaned bathrooms and did a trip to the shops to get two pressies, do I get a sticker??? DSs and the like....K doesn't have one, I'm also thinking end of year for him, I think he needs to be a bit older for something like that...maybe when he turns 6 or something.
Triny - I am also planning on ironing tonight, the joys!
key - hope the party went well.
cazza - was also wondering how your friend went, what did they call the princess?
Our good friends who live away at the moment just had their first bub, a girl named "Isla", beautiful name.
I've had an average weekend....DH has worked all weekend, so just been the boys and I. All I seem to have done is eat, currently eating burger rings, not good!

I have been really slack and not posted the link for tomorrow...
LINK HERE Concord West picnic area, usually quiet and there is a playground and picnic tables.

Entry is Via Victoria Ave and George St West Concord. PM me if you need my mobile number!

PG weight - I only put on about 7ish kgs all up. I lost about 5 in the 1st tri no morning sickness though, I think I was just eating better. It wouldn't affect me TTC though.

Housework _ I have done stuff all so far today! Just got home from lunch with friends and N has passed out in bed. Played until exhaustion with their DD and DS. I was about to get some washing done be DH is cleaning the balcony so I have nowhere to hang it.
Must go help him I guess. BBL

Have fun Sydney girls - must be better weather there than here - we are on day 3 of a rainy long weekend. Nevermind, my main plan was resting, so it has been fine. Dd is getting a bit bored though. Maybe we'll go to the outlet mall today, which has a play centre thingy she hasn't tried yet.
I am so slack today - letting both kids have bikkies and milk for breakfast on the couch in the lounge to keep them quiet. I am letting DP sleep in. I might make pikelets when he gets up.

hi,
hope you sydney girls are having a nice catch up!
seepi same here! long weekend that hasn't stopped raining! I too had plans for resting and doing stuff inside, ie full on vacuuming each room etc - window sills, skirting boards, moving beds, dressers etc. DH did all that though so that was good. I've been emptying out the baby's room so it looks less like a dumping ground.
we might go for a drive this arvo or something but it really is windy and rainy and yuck.
well girls today is Day 1 of getting Oliver to go to one sleep. as you prob remember i tried a few wks ago and he wasn't coping. But in retrospect it was just before all his molars were starting to cut and he seems to be more tired when teething. anyhoo, the last couple of days h'es taken a while to go to sleep for both sleeps and yesterday was awake in his cot just talking etc for 1.5hrs beofre he finally fell asleep and only got an hour. So i decided i'll try the one sleep thing. Wish i had started on sat rather than today as its easier to distract him with DH home. so the plan will be to get up 8ish (today was 8.30 - we just let him sleep til whenever) then bed at 1230 (he was tired by 1030 his usual 2 hrs up but we kept distracting him) and then hopefully he'll sleep til 2.30 or even 3. will even put DD to bed at this time. she has been only sleeping every second day or so, i realise at 3 she prob ready to cut it out but not every day, so if she sleeps then bonus for me, if she doesn't then no big deal. normally she woudnt go down til 2ish but i dont want to be restricted and needing to be home pretty much all day.
so its 1215, they've had lunch and now just having a play then it will be bed time. I just hope he doesnt think its first sleep of the dya time and only have one hr!

Hi all,
Cassi, Meljas and Triny - so sorry about not showing up today

- Maddie had croup again on Saturday night so we ended up at the hosp with steroids again and I've had very little sleep and didn't want to take her out as she is still a little raspy when breathing.

We don't have any steroids left (as they only give you one for the next night which was last night) so I'm hoping she will be okay tonight. Anyway, I hope you all had a lovely catch up.
My friend's baby - she had her little girl last Monday and called her Ava. She is perfect in every way and so tiny! We had the Christening last Wednesday which was lovely and they loved the bracelet. She is going to be one spoilt little girl! I am so happy for them, they truly desever the light and happiness a new baby brings into your life.
Words - sounds like we have a few budding geniuses in here.

Maddie is going pretty well, I would say she has around 40 words/animal sounds. Last week I was eating chicken breast and she pointed to my plate and said "chichen", which I was VERY impressed with!
Ali - good luck with O's sleep, I hope he has a long one and gets the hang of it quickly.
Oh and a little mummy brag before I go sit on the lounge (I'm still so trtied from sat night) - Jack came home on Friday afternoon with an award for excellence in maths!!! They give out little certificates of merit occasionally at school and I find it highly amusing that he got one for maths as I'm totally hopeless at maths - Enligh/history was always my forte.
Better go rest while I can. I don't think Callum is asleep as I can here books being taken off shelves in his room but he's quiet so I'm leaving him in there for another half an hour.

Not impressed, have just sat down to watch DOOL and the Acadomy awards are on...they are on tonight as well so why put them on during the day as too, errrrrrr
Have fun at the meet-up today girls, look forward to hearing all about it.
Sharon - yes yes you are right, I'm not a swearer at all, maybe it was the burgerings or maybe it was that I was over having yet another weekend with DH at work...ummmm
ali - good luck with Oliver's 1 sleep. I put Max down at 1230pm also, distraction is the key, inside, outside, food etc, he will get use to it. Kai cut out his day sleep when he turned 3 also.
clazza - poor Maddie, she doesn't have much fun with the croup does she. Congratulations to your firend, Ava is a gorgeous name

I'm pleased everything is going well. Good work Jack, that is very impressive
blondi - I forgot to comment on the BF thing. I would probably feed C until she is 18 months (not long away) and then stop. You have done a terrific job feeding for that long. Anyway that is my input.
Have a good day all
ellangel

You are funny with your Dool littlem! Yes it is annoying when you get all excited and go to sit down and watch something and it is not on after all.
Ali - I think for about 2 weeks, we played the sleep thing by ear. Most days it was one sleep, a few days it was 2 and then gradually phased it out. Now you will well and truly be able to get out and about and enjoy your mornings though! I loved that aspect. And if people want to meet for lunch, we make it an early lunch.
Holli now sleeps from 11.30- 2.30pm ish. That is with an average of 6.30am wake up though.
Claz - hope Maddie is ok tonight! Poor little girl. Thanks for sharing your friends news! They must be over the moon with sweet little Ava! Gorgeous.

Hi all,
back from our Sydney meet-up! we had a lovely time at the park, thankfully it didnt rain! (though, all weekend they have predicted rain, and it hasnt). Everyone was very good, except Alexander who ran away a couple of times to chase birds into the mangroves... and managed to walk through large mud puddles, filling his shoes with mud (which I only realised at the car).
Clazza - hope Maddie gets better soon
Ali - good luck with your one day sleep! Alexander has only one now, but it's quite short, 1.5-2 hours. he is up at 8am and in bed at 8pm, with his nap anywhere between 11-1230. I'm certainly not strict about it anyway, if we have things to do, he just sleeps in the car for a little morning nap and then often has a little arvo one as well.
BBL MUST each something for lunch!

Alexander is such a gorgeous boy, a little explorer at heart!

Clazza - We can always meet up another time. I hope Maddie is ok, poor bubba. Sounds like you guys need the rest today. fingers crossed that everyone has a good sleep tonight! Congrats to your friends. Its good to hear they like the gift you picked for her.
Ali - Good luck with Oliver's new sleep routine! I'm sure he will be fine after a week or so.

clazza congrats to your friends. I am glad little Ava is helping them heal. Glad they liked the present too.
sharon yeah it will mean i can do more in the mornings if it works, the only regular thing that will be affected is mothers group (from DD) that usually starts 1030 ish til 1.30 ish. so having to leave at around 12 will mean not a long time there. oh well. the other trick will be trying to keep him awake in car on the way home!
Glad the syd catch up went well!

Hi Guys
Thanks for the meetup Cassi and Meljas. It was good to see the boys and also find some playmates for J that didn't result in her hiding on my lap.
Clazza - I hope Maddie is better soon.
Ali - I did what Ellangel did for the first couple of weeks. J now usually sleeps from 11:30 till 2:30. Some days do require more distraction then others. Lunch is at 11am which helps with distraction.
Ellangel - Yay for $$$ bummer though DH has to go away for it. It is better than overseas though I imagine.

Never mind. if he happens to fall asleep in the car that day well i'll just have to suck it up! it is just a shame he doesnt transfer.
yeah i'd be the same, glad for the $ but sad to be on my own.
He ended up sleeping for just over 2.5hrs and was happy playing in his cot so left him til he was in there for 3hrs. so not longer than he would normally have even when having morning sleep but as i said earlier he was beginning to fluff around and not going to sleep.
so i am happy! hope tomorrow is the same.

Max is getting more cheeky every day, such a character he is. He is now telling me 'no" and pointing his finger at me.....still venturing into the shower every day, he is obsessed with the shower

Funny, as soon as I heard about the hailstorms in Melbourne I thought about Ellangels DH!
Ali, we've had to go onto the one sleep routine too as it works best for school pick up. Lunch about 11, bed 11.30 to 2.30 if I'm lucky. Often though on the weekends Lucas needs a 2 sleep day to catch up, Saturday he was tired by 9am!
Glad your Sydney meet up went well, sounds like fun.

Morning! Hope you Sydney girls had a lovely catch up yesterday. It was a holiday here so we had a big Mothers Group with all the full-time workers, it was great but hectic. I was planning to watch the Oscars yesterday afternoon but DH did some painting in the kitchen and then didn't want me sitting around in the fumes so we all went to DFO and looked at kitchen appliances. Does anyone have an induction cooktop? We rather like the look of them but not sure if they are good. Anyway I got to see the first hour of the Os and the last 1/2 hour.
Seepi - LOL at bikkies for breakfast, Claudia would love that!
Ali - scary time changing the sleep routines, but I hope it happens smoothly for you and Oliver.
We started moving our MG earlier and earlier because of sleep times, yesterday was 9:30 - 11:30. Sounds like his first sleep was great, I know you are used to more but I think the rest of us will tell you one 2 1/2 - 3 hour sleep per day is fantastic!
Clazza - sorry to hear Maddie has been sick

. Fantastic news about your friend's new daughter, and I'm glad they loved the present, you will be a wonderful godmother

. Claudia calls chicken "kicken" heehee. Well done to Jack on his award too

.
Littlemumma - I think I must be the only one who likes the Oscars! I told the girls yesterday morning I planned to watch and they all looked at me like I'm a weirdo. I would've stayed up last night to watch them but far too late for me these days.
Melanie - Claudia's sleep is usually 1 1/2 - 2 hours also. Very rarely up to 3. I have an explorer too, at big get togethers I'm always spending half my time chasing her.
Ellangel - boo to DH being away, sorry our crazy weather is dragging him away from you.

Sounds like sleep went well yesterday Ali, I hope he keeps it up for you. I am sure you will be able to work out a solution for MG but one day out of routine isn't such a bad thing.

Blondi - I don't mind the Acadomy Awards although mainly love it for the fashion...I was just bummed they put it on instead of DOOL as I only get to watch it two days a week as it is with work so when its not on I really get upset about it (yep, sad I know).
Sharon - Yes we always have the shower door closed but the little monkey can open it right up and hop straight in. A whole month for DH going away, gosh that is a long time....do you think he could come home for a weekend during that time?
ali - craft at the library sounds good for tomorrow, kids will enjoy that.
cassi - that's no good you got burnt yesterday, ouch....I hate getting burnt. Ummmmmmmm Banana bread, that is one thing I miss about working in Sydney, grabbing that in the mornings with a hot chocolate.
seepi - they often say that the siblings don't talk as much as the older one as the older one does the talking for them.
beagle - sounds like you need a

, although you probably just want to crawl into a hole. Hope you are ok xx.
I'm feeling a bit down in the dumps. Kai has been really emotional these last couple of days and today he actually ran out of the classroom crying and out to the gate to DH and I as we were leaving. I had to take him back to the classroom but he was still upset when I left. He's had a relief teacher the last two days (two different ones), so I'm not sure if that is what is wrong or what. Its hard leaving them upset as its not like preschool where you can ring an hour later to make sure they are ok...I mean I know he is probably fine but still.
Anyway, Max was as happy as larry as he is having the day with Daddy.
Best get back to it

Littlem - oh poor Kai and poor you! I am sure he is fine now and maybe you can talk to him about it when he gets home. hugs!
Ella was the opposite yesterday. DID NOT get excited or smile at me when I picked her up. Would not come out of the classroom and said she didnt want to come home with me. I turned the pram around and said 'ok, see you then!'....she was soon in hot pursuit behind us!
Ali - do not worry about the sleep...just day by day and see what he needs. It will be right in a week or 2 and you wont look back.
I am fine about DH going now. I am woman hear me roar! I can do bloody anything! Except maybe get rid of a mouse or spider or start the mower!! LOL. Think it might be a bit too much hassle for DH to come back on a weekend. We will play it by ear as I know after about 2 weeks he will miss us terribly...
Holli had a makeup swim lesson with her old teacher today. Low and behold she screamed her head off, so must be the teacher. whooops

Oh no Ellangel, that teacher must've done something that Holli just does not like! Poor poppet.
Littlemum- I feel so bad for you and poor Kai, it must be really tough making this adjustment to him being a 'big boy' at school. Hopefully it's just the change of teacher and he will be enjoying school when the regular teacher is back.
Ali - did Oliver eventually go to sleep this morning?
I'm having a very boring day. I finally sold my leather coat, $51 which is less than I hoped but not too bad I suppose. The buyer was hoping to have it by Thursday for a gift but I don't have the car today and it's too windy/rainy for me to walk to the PO, so fingers crossed if I send it tomorrow it will still get there for her, she lives in a nearby suburb so should be OK. I've been working on a haiku for my first Creative & Professional Writing assessment, gosh it's hard! I haven't done any creative writing since high school, let alone poetry, and I'm struggling.

blondie yes he did sleep for about an hour this morning. and he's back in bed now just singing. i know he will eventually drop off to sleep though..just have to wait.
i was thinking that the reason he was prob so tired this morning, other than his cold, is that i had heard him on the monitor about 6am which i then think he dozed til 8ish so was prob tired from the earlier morning.
51 isn't too bad for your coat, but yeah a shame you didnt get more.
anything else on ebay that you're selling?

Ali - when Holli was switching to 1 sleep, on the days she absolutely HAD to have 2 naps, I would wake her after 45 mins to ensure she would have a big arvo nap if that makes sense. You do not want a big morning and then a small arvo as then he will be overtired for 7pm night sleep and so begins a crappy process and tired baby.
The swimming teacher is strict, nanna like natzi who goes boom boom from one activity to the next. The younger girl on Saturday was a lot more laid back and fun. The only time Holli did not cry today was when she found a plastic turtle floating in the water. She kept kissing it and saying 'turtle'...LOL Like she was trying to distract mummy into letting her stay hiding in the corner with the toy!
$51 isnt too bad, but like you said, it was worth more, but at least you got rid of it.

I'm still selling my spare copy of What To Expect When You're Expecting, no bids yet. It's brand new and I've only set $5 as the starting price

.
I'm also doing some watching and bidding on a few things for me and Claudia, Heehee.
