Sorry ladies, been lurking, but no time to post. MIL left on Monday night. Had a great time with her and will really miss her. But have had loads to catch up on since her departure.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Bronze!! yay me!!
~Mo+Moosh~
Bronze! Oops just realised Wendy bet me to it!

Had to share this necklace I had made by The Vintage Pearl (you can find her on Etsy and also she has her own webpage).

I love it!

ETA: Hamish has only just woken now at 10am for the first time since around 5am. He is so smiley and giggly though so he must have had an awesome sleep!
mummy2Ali*Lachie
biene just read your last post omg I so need to do that!!! It sounds like such a good idea!!! I know that Lachlan's room is all good cos I am in there messing around cleaning etc all the time. So I need to follow your lead and get my house schmik!!!

I can't work out my boy he slept from 7pm with dream feed at 10:30pm he stirred at 2:00am then went back to sleep by himself (I quickly went to the loo when he first started grizzling by the time I went him to him like maybe 2 minutes he was asleep) he then slept until six am!! I was writing down all of his sleeps and feeds etc and there was no pattern what so ever over four days. So I have no idea what I did that made him sleep so long so we will see what happens tomorrow.

MOH have fun on your little trip.

Suziej Yay for the gorgeous photo.

Madreader you sound so much more upbeat!!!

Firstontheway...good luck with all your catching up!!

Jax go for gold girl!!!

Mum2jc...I think we were in a fight for bronze heheheh!!! Go Hamish on the happy wake up!!

Question...anyone else's babies dreaming? Lachlan I swear is he makes heaps of noises sometimes like he's laughing and he smiles and other times like he's frightened or crying.

Well best go I am meeting up with all the antenatal mum's and babes today for lunch (well the ones who exchanged numbers) should be good!!!

Morning,

I sat down to post some congratulations to Charlie and myself but I may have jinxed us. I am on a self settling campaign. He was put in his cot at 11, asleep with minimal patting by 11:15 but he woke at 11:30. These 15 minute naps have been a bit of a habit lately. Actually all is quiet again at 11:35 so I will have a peek. Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh - his eyes are closed and he is still so I will make the assumption he is asleep. Oh drat - here he goes again.

I have a 5 day plan of attempting self settling as I have minimal outings and visitors. Yesterday I sort of started when I banned feeding him to sleep. His jabs have not had much of an effect apart from making him sleepy and I am taking advantage of that. In fact he slept last night from 8pm - 4:30am - a best ever by far.

All is quiet again.

Wendy - have fun with the mums and socialising always takes priority (especially if it is with me)

Mum2JC - love the necklace. I have been looking at similar necklaces and will keep hinting for Mother's Day but i doubt our current finances will enable a delivery.

It is 11:40 and it is all quiet. Now what to do? Hang out washing, bring in washing, shower, do dishes or start on the smallest room in the house with the 'good housewife' initiative.

See even Charlie is on my side. He is grumbling again. Obviously not a fan of housework either.

Have a great day girls.
mummy2Ali*Lachie

Hi all! original.gif The world's most infrequent poster here LOL

Don't know how you ladies manage to post so regularly but am very impressed that you do.

Miss Lily is rapidly growing and has really come into her own personality over the last week. She is still sleeping really well 7:30 - 5:00 at night and then back to sleep till 7:30am. She has a quick 10 minute nap around 9am and then will sleep from 11am until 2:30 when I have to wake her up to pick DS up from school. Another hour around 4:30-5:30pm. This has been pretty regular since she was born so have been lucky.

She is now in 00 size clothes and of course has an extensive wardrobe being a girl after 2 boys!!

Anyway here is her latest pic

Glad everyone is well! original.gif
Donna~
Hi guys original.gif I don't think I've posted in this PG before, but I did post in our DIG a handful of times. Is it ok if I join?

My Name is Donna, I'm from Sydney. I have a 3 month old boy named Benjamin. Born 3.12.09, I got him weighed yesterday (3 months old) he is 7.42Kg! ohmy.gif DS1 was 7.6 Kg at his 7 month check! He is wearing 00 clothes.

I guess I just need to chat to other mums with babies the same age. Does anyone else have babies up several times a night? Ben feeds 7, 9.30ish, 1, 3:30, 6... and then every 2/3 hours during the day. If I give him a dream feed around 11 he skips the 1am feed, But I can't stay up that long most of the time. He has a dummy as well. He is just a hungry giat little boy! wub.gif

Fifi- she is so cute! Wow, she sounds like she is going well original.gif

Mum2JC- I love that necklace! I have a similar (if not the same) etsy shop bookmarked and I'm hoping to get a necklace for Mothers day... DH doesn't know this yet though Tounge1.gif

Does anyone know if babies go through a growth spurt at 3 months? DS has been so unsettled the last few days, and today has been so bad! He has been so unsettled all day. He is such a happy baby most of the time, I don't like seeing him like this sad.gif

Sundayj

Welcome Donna. I have read that bubs go through a growth spurt at three months.

Sundayj
How do I put photo's up here again?? Confused.
great8
Hi All

Reading everyone's posts often but finding it hard to post.

Just wanted to say welcome to Donna and let you know that I 'googled' growth spurts and read that they are at 10days, 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 3 months and 6 months.

I am another one like you with the feeding, Nicholas feeds every 2/3 hours during the day and then 7.30pm, 11.30pm and then every 2 to 3 hours until 6am. I co-sleep with him so I am sure that is part of his 'apparent' appetite. Can't sleep and not feed when the best restaurant in town is open 24/7 and you are located right beside it! But I am loving it regardless.

Last night however, he had a turn around and slept from 7.30pm until 2.45am, then fed and straight back to sleep until 6am. Nice to get some sleep but missed him as he has the first part of his sleep in his cot as I am not prepared to co-sleep at 7.30pm when he goes down.

Gotta get others to school, have a nice day everyone.
JoIsMe
another one here with one who feeds frequently overnight - feed at around 8:30pm, then asleep soon after, waking around 2am and then things get crazy - she has been known to be wide awake then and take 2-3 hours to get her back to sleep.

quick one from me - DH took Seren to MCHN yesterday - we are going every 3-4 weeks, and she thinks that Seren has silent reflux. This week we have had terrible screaming sessions, arched back and regurgitation of milk. Its also teh week I returned to work, and my expressing sucks, so she has been having quite a bit of formula (which is making her sleep more during the day and not constantly on teh boob at night - which I guess points to flow issues). So we need to find a GP asap adn get some help - any tips from you guys will be greatly appreciated.

She also isn't putting on much weight or growing much. 5.6kg and 61.5cm yesterday and she was 5.2kg and 61cm 4 weeks ago.

okay - am actually at work (gone back full time, with DH going part=time and having 2 days off to look after her adn mixture of family day care and childcare centre care for the other three days). bbl I hope.
madreader
Hi all!

Sundayj: All the photo instructions can be found at Essentiall Baby; Housekeeping; FAQs, Rules,Tips & Questions; Forum & Technical Qs. Hope this helps.

Donna: welcome, our babies have the same birthday!

Joisme: congrats on getting back to work - must be weird hey! No good on the silent Reflux. There are gps with open books at Tuggeranong Square (Southside) but I dont know where you are currently, Im trying to research one closer to us in Weston Creek but havent gone to one yet. PM me if you want furthur details about Tuggeranong.

great8: Nice big sleep for you, hope you feel good for it!

FiFi: cute pic!

AFUS: Ryan is now 3 months, I weighed him yesterday and he is 7.245kg - YAY eexcite.gif . Wearing mainly 00, a few 000 still fit (sortof), and some of his long sleeve/long leg clothes seem tight at 00, so will need some 0 ones before winter ends. Still wearing Huggies infant nappies, but judging by some of the poos lately we will have to move up to provide containment!!

Hope everyone is well, enjoy your weekends especially those of us with long weekends for Monday!
Sundayj
Thanks Madreader

Hi guys,

Im so excited I learnt how to put photos on, after all this time, so I just have to share a pic of my gorgeous little bub for any of you who havent seen him yet wink.gif

Biene - love your idea on the house cleaning Im going to follow in your footsteps I think. wink.gif

Fifi - Lily is just gorgeous!!! Her sleeping overnight is almost identical to Brendans, He usually goes down about 730- 8pm and sleeps till 5 then has a feed and sleeps till 730 again. He's very considerate lol

Donna - Welcome to the group!! biggrin.gif

Jolsme - Hope you can find a GP and sort out the feeding soon. My cousin has just found out her baby has silent reflux too, medication has helped heaps and he is now feeding sleeping much better and less crying. Congrats aswell going back to work.

Madreader - Awesome weight for Ryan. I got Brendan weighed on Tuesday and he was 6.1 at 10 weeks. Everyone keeps telling me how big he looks once I say he is only 10weeks, he has big chubby face, but under his clothes he quite small. Still fits into a few 0000. Thanks aswell for pointing us in the right direction re the photos, it took me a while but im all sorted now cool.gif

AFUS- We have had a pretty busy week, had mothers group again on Tuesday and it was great. Its a drop in kind of set up so a different group each week, with the usual regulars aswell. We have organised to go for coffee after the meeting next week, and have exchanged ph numbers and addresses etc for when our time at the baby health clinic runs out.
Went to visit my friend aswell on Thursday, she has two littles kids DS3 and DD1. It just made me realise that I could not have a one yr old and a baby lol... She is the most gorgeous little girl but just didnt understand why the baby couldnt eat the food she kept trying to give him wink.gif , and he did end up whacked on the head a few times with plastic toys. It would be way to much work. I take my hat off to anyone who has kids so close together and actually survives.
m2max
Wow time seems to be flying here at the moment. I think it is because I feel like I have finally come out of the newborn phase, I am getting a great sleep and am feeling on top of things. Thank you Charlie.

As a result of the time flying - there seems to have been many posts since I last posted.

ekstar - You have a cute munchkin there. Brendan reminds me a little of Charlie.

Madreader - hi

JoisMe - I hope you are making a reasonably smooth transition back to work. The feeding issues must be trying though. I hope you can get some good advice from a GP. Lots of expressing in between feeds got my supply back but would end up with 10 mins out of 2 hours to myself in that routine and would be lucky to get 30mls.

great 8 - thanks for the post about the growth spurts. I think Charlie has one about every 3 days when he has a feeding frenzy. Tonight was one such evening. Now I have a little preview of what my boobs are going to look like after feeding - huge floppy sacks

donna - welcome (back)

fifi - way too cute! Have you taken the great photos?

AFUS - looking forward to a reasonably relaxing weekend apart from working on the self settling. Just need to get DH on side. Today didnt work too well as each time Charlie was supposed to self settle I seemed to be on the move. I drove Max to school and then went to an exercise + pram group in a park nearby. Unfortunately it was cancelled due to the instructor unfortunately having a car accident. Her obvious priority was getting her 2 boys to a doctor for a check. I still went for a bit of a power walk in the gorgeous green park. Charlie went to sleep after a little cry in the pram. A bit of shopping, cleaning up around home (a yet a few more loads of washing), picked up Max, hairdresser for him, drop in at mum and dads and finally home. And Friday is gone.

Tomorrow will take Max for a bike ride at a park that has a preschooler track and will take the scooter he borrowed from the toy library. Sunday have a friend/colleague and his family over, followed by my mum and dad for dinner. Monday holiday nothing planned yet. All very pleasant with lovely weather but will need to do the obvious continual housework.

Still trying to sort out schooling for Max but looks like I may be able to keep him at his ELC for an extra term with a few of his current classmates. I was getting in a real state about it yesterday. I know I will look back and it will all work out and not seem that bad. We drove past the school today (which is down the road from Mum and Dad) and Max said "I like that school". I took it as a sign.

Better get a wiggle on into bed otherwise Charlie will have a shocker night.

Makes me laugh that I'm giving advice to others about how to keep your house clean.
But so far it's still working here.

Although DH packed my newly cleaned kitchen with boxes full of clothes still from our move to Germany. He's emptying out our garage because his boss bought our old merc and they are fixing it up in there.

Anyway... I came on to share a cute moment with you.

I asked DH this morning whether he knew if it would be hot today (I was dressing the kids).
He was busy with the garage so he said:

"Jump on the computer and find out yourself!"
DD#1 came running and yelled: "No!!!! You can't do that.

We didn't get it at first. Dh even wanted to tell her off for yelling at him but then we understood that she took it literally. LOL.

Have a lovely weekend everyone. Work on getting your houses clean.

Sundayj
I'm getting the hang of this and having some fun. Another photo of Banjo.
Have a good weekend.

Cute photos girls, glad to be of help! cool.gif

Oh everyone's photos are so cute, how will I ever stop wanting more kids biggrin.gif

This is the younger three;

Nicholas on his own;

Sorry I have been MIA. Personals first and then I will do a big update on us.

Hoping4bubs09- wow Lachlan is so tiny compared to Indy! He is now 11wks, 6kg and 60cm tall but still mainly in 0000 but I am starting to be able to put him in 000. How is the dummy weaning going and the self-settling?

MOH: I hope you have a lovely trip away and the feeding goes ok on the plane. Congrats on being able to squish back into your clothes. I have my 25th party tonight and I can not find anything to fit sad.gif

M2max: the pram exercise class sounds great! I started mummy and baby exercise classes at the hospital on Thursday and was very excited with it. Hopefully you will come away from the pram group he same. Charlie is a great weight too! I hope the school can work something out with Max.

45TR1D: I love the pic of Adam! So cute! Becareful running, the physio has put out recommendations to wait 4-6mths before running as your ligaments are still loose from the pregnancy.

Eeyoreangel: Love the pics of Charlotte especially her hair! Just gorgeous original.gif

Katiebelle: excellent news on the sleeping.

Biene_maja: Glad Lucia is ok. Sounds exactly like something my eldest would do. Today we went to Officeworks to do children’s craft and he wouldn’t sit on the chair. I kept sitting him back on his bottom and telling him that he would fall if he didn’t sit down. Next minute he stands up again and loses his footing and falls biting his lip. Luckily it wasn’t too bad. Thanks for the cleaning advice. It is exactly what I need to do.

Madreader: I hope your DH had a lovely birthday. Your story about the plane gave me the giggles. I have had too many times where I have leaked everywhere and had to try and fix it up under the hand dryers at shopping centres too.

Suziej: which YMCA does the pram groups? Actually, I have no idea where the closest YMCA to me even is. Love the pic too. I can not believe Josette is waving. Too cute original.gif

Mum2JC2: I hear you with DP working so much and having to do all the parenting, especially at arsenic hour with two! The necklace is just gorgeous too.

Fifi: Awww the pic is so lovely! Definitely a framer.

Donna: hi and wow on Benjamin! He must be a great eater original.gif

JolsMe: Sorry to hear about the reflux, but I can definitely help. Indy has reflux and is on 5mg of Losec twice daily. I have his front wheels of his bassinet on phone books, I keep his body slightly lower than his chest when I feed him. Always keep him upright on a pillow or upright in his swing for an hour after a feed. If I have to change him after a feed, it helps to do it on their sides. Even with the reflux Indy has had good weight gain, but with my first Casper, he was tiny and struggled to put on weight from the reflux. He was in 00 at his first birthday.

Sundayj: Very cute photos of Banjo! I love the outfit in the first pic you posted. Where did you get it?

Ekstar: Just gorgeous! I am in the same boat with you. Indy is 6kg but still only in 0000. I think it is because even though he is tall, he has a short torso and very long legs.

Great8: Awww he has so much hair!!! The girls are lovely too.

AFU: After seeing the doc on Monday and getting antibiotics for Indy, we ended up in the ER on Wednesday night as he was having coughing fits and couldn’t breathe. We ended up staying for 6hrs while the monitored his HR and oxygen levels. He had a coughing fit in their and all the alarms started going off. Was a bit scary, but his oxygen levels never dropped below 82%, so they didn’t need to give him any and we were discharged. Anyway, he has broncholitis, but finally seems to be on the mend. Still coughing, but no more scary episodes.

Thursday, my lite n’easy package arrived and I started on it yesterday. Pretty happy with the food and I didn’t feel hungry after it. I also started my mummy and baby exercise class at the Mater this week. SO hopefully the combination will make me feel fit and healthy again.

It’s my 25th birthday tomorrow, so my parents are throwing me a birthday party tonight. Looking forward to it apart from the weather. It will be nice to catch up with friends who I haven’t been able to see for a while.

Here are pics of the munchkins:

ETA: how do I make the pics smaller????
Mercurial
snoopyjt - have a fantastic party tonight! I took two dresses and couldn't get into one and wore the other. The dress I couldn't fit into was the one I want to wear to my brother's wedding in 3 weeks. Boobs just do not fit at all. No good about the trip to the ER, hope he's on the mend soon. I like lite'n'easy, no thinking involved!

great8 - what cuties!

sundayj - love that mouth wide open.

biene - that is so cute. And grumbles to your DH messy up your tidy house, very rude.

m2max - hopefyully the next attempt at prams and exercise goes a bit better. Sounds like you've got a few things planned, enjoy. Self settling doesn't work during the day for us at all unless we're at home. Really hoping to fix that as I don't want to be holding her to get her to sleep everytime we go anywhere.

eckstar - just gorgeous. I really like the almost 3 year age gap between my two. DS is old enough to understand a lot more and has been helpful too.

madreader - wow 7.25kg. I'm having Caitlin weighed with the MCHN but I'm doubting she'll be even 6kg.

jolsme - hope working full time works okay, will be a bit of a transition I would imagine. Hope if it is silent reflux that some medication will help.

Donna - waves.gif I remember you from our DIG.

AFUS - Cairns was great. Was a bit concerned how things were going to go when we got to the airport, I picked Caitlin out of her carseat and there was poo all up the back of her and through the carseat (which I was taking with me). 15 mins and lots of wipes later. But flight was all good. Fed her during taxi'ing and take off and again as we were landing and she slept in between. people were great with getting my things down from the racks etc and best of all I had 3 seats to myself so could feed with my elbows out (I hold the breast being fed off so always have an elbow out). She was perfect for DH's cousin and her flatmate (also a midwife) and we had some great dinners at the functions. Caitlin hasn't had a proper daytime sleep for 3 days now though so crashed early tonight and hopefully will catch up over the next few days. Not sleeping well during hte day means more feeds too and I'm feeding her 8 times a day compared to the normal 6. She's also pooing what seems like 100 times a day but is probably about 8-9 times.

Am absolutely shattered after two late nights and two early mornings (boobs leaking at 5am and needing to express desperately - got 260mls this morning in 15 mins!). DS also exhausted after no daytime nap because we arrived in around lunchtime when he's normally sleeping. 4.45pm saw DH and DS both fast alseep on the couch. Woke up DS at 5.20 and he groggily walked around from a few mins and then put himself to bed at 5.30. Will be interesting to see what time he wakes up in the morning.

Well am exhausted so going to go and tuck myself in me thinks. night all.

Mumofhayden: did you take your regular car seat from home for Caitlin or a special smaller travel one? Reason I ask is we are going os in April and I need to book a hire car this week.

Hi everyone else. Have been reading daily but lazy with my posts asvrarely on front of proper computer and I am too Lazy to post from my phone! Sorry!
Mercurial
We took a convertible rear/forward facing baby seat. We're still using a capsule for Caitlin but this was the seat we used for DS so was easiest to take. We flew Qantas and you get a stroller or carseat taken which doesn't count for baggage allowance (we took both) so I just wrapped in the thick plastic bags provided at the airport and no problems. The carseat only weights about 5kg anyway and is installed pretty quickly.

Hello All,

Another one MIA for what seems like an eternity now.

Just a short one today.

Jade has been great. She does have a tendency to have short catnaps during the day ( unless I hold her of course) which can be frustrating but I've never been one to stick to strict routines so I dont think that would work for us.
The last time I weighed her ( I think it was a month ago) she was pushing 5 kilos. I think if I weighed her again now she would be pushing six!! Time has just flown and it seems like I blink and she has gotten huge!. She is smiling and cooing alot now, and paying lots of attention to the little faces dangling above her on her play mat. The other kids are still in love with her as much as when she was born - in fact my second daughter can sometimes love her a little too much wink.gif but Jade is quite cruisy and takes it all in her stride.

AFM - It seems that my PND has returned and it is quite bad this time ( I had it with my others). I'm finding it difficult to motivate myself and I am just sooooo tired all the time ( Hence the no posting). Its never nice when all you want to do is alternate between sleeping and crying!! I have been referred to a psychiatrist which I will go and see when an available appointment comes up.

Anyway guys, I'm really struggling to keep my head together so I'll (hopefully) be back later if I can manage to get through all the threads I have missed.

Cheers Mel
Sundayj
Snoopytj: I got that little outfit from a friend, but its part of the Bonds recent range of lovely Summer suits and I agree they are so comfy and gorgeous.

Mummyof*3*: Bad luck about the PND, I hope the psychiatrists visits help. Chin-up.

Here is a photo of Banjo in his little Gro-suit. They are really cozy, but I'm thinking of getting a wombie too as the arms are inside. I have had to put mittens on Banj on colder nights, but the gro-bag seems comfy and no kicking off the blankets.

We are enjoying the long weekend here in Melbourne but the weather has been really crazy with golf ball sized hailstones bouncing in our back yard yesterday and lightning and thunder today.
Sundayj.

*Umm sorry about the very large photo.
ausktl
Sundayj we recently started using grobags too and initially had issues with cold hands and flayling arms so what we now do is use a thicker bunny rug and just wrap his arms and put the blanket under his body so it doesn't wrap across his chest of you get what I mean. Works a charm.
Mercurial
Sleeping bags - Caitlin sleeps in a normal bonds suit and then lower half of her body wrapped. I was looking at some sleeping bags with arms the other day and we'll probably get her something like that for when it cools down. Still too warm overnight here in Qld to need a sleeping bag yet.

sundayj - gorgeous photo. Hope you didn't get any damage with the crazy weather down there.

mummyof3 - no good about the PND. Hopefully the psychiatrist can help you feel back to your normal self quickly. I imagine you recognised the warning signs earlier on this time which should help in getting it sorted fast.

AFUS - Had a nice day yesterday relaxing and just taking some time out which was great. Really needed it. Had a MCHN appt this morning and Caitlin weighs 5.88kg and is 60.5cm. She's put on 200g this week which is excellent. Sitting smack bang on the 75% percentile for height and weight but 25% percentile for head size. DS is on the 90th percentile for height and weight and only 10th for head circumference - we just have small heads in this family I guess! MCHN was really pleased with everything and super excited that I was still feeding after all the initial troubles.

DS at daycare so just Caitlin and I. Been on the phone most the morning as my brother is getting married in 3 weeks and the hens/bucks are this weekend but have been organised very last minute and a bit all over the shop so ringing around making sure correct people got invited (ie my sister and mum didn't get the invite for some reason) and sorting out for those of us with kids who's going to look after them as the times will cross over. Ladies are having a high tea up at Mt Tambourine so that should be nice.

All pretty good here. ILs coming over for dinner tomorrow night as it's MIL's birthday tomorrow. Doing a bbq so that will be pretty straightforward which is nice.
madreader
Hi all!

Mummyof3: sorry to hear about your PND - are you on any meds or anticipating going on any? How long did you have trouble last time? I have just been diagnosed with anxiety and PND, and after trying just counselllign with a psychologist I have just started on Zoloft 5 days ago. Not feeling any different yet but hoping to soon. Everyone here in our group has been very supportive smile1.gif , its a good place to have a vent or just a read that other people feel the same sometimes.

MoH: hard work organising hens & bucks, especially at late notice - hope things end up ok and everyone gets where they should do! Caitlins stats sound great - remember how worried you used to be - glad shes thriving for you.

ausktl: hmm - interesting idea for the arms. I think you mean the babies weight holds the wrap that has their arms in it down underneath them - is that right? Might have to try that one.

Sundayj: sweet photo of Banjo. Hope your roof is still where it was and youre not flooded or anything.

Snoopy: Happy Birthday for yesterday! cclap.gif Hope you enjoyed your party. Is Indy getting better?

great8: also sweet shots - but how many do you have???

eeyore: Hi. Hope youre enjoying Canberra Day and didnt get soaked coming home from the shops like we did!

AFUS: Cant be bothered, not much to tell really.
Hope everyone's well - cuddles to babies.
great8
Hi All

Banjo is sooooo cute, I have one of those sleeping bags but haven't got to use it yet, too bl**dy hot here. Can't wait for winter. Air con is getting a good work out, nearly passed out at our most recent electricity bill!!

Here is a picture of all of us rolleyes.gif

A quick vent....

Charlie has been awake since 4pm and it is 10:30pm. He has been crying a lot, pooing, farting, feeding but generally unhappy. I am exhausted after a full on weekend - and it was meant to be peaceful. On Sunday we started referring to our guests as 'the next shift' we had so many. I have never cut up so much fruit and cheese (outside of work).

Ok. DH has just put Charlie into his cot and I think.... he is finally gone (please!!!!)

I watched the Raising Children DVD I was given at the hospital. A good watch but I think it was a bit unrealistic. I was supposed to be working on self settling over the last 5 days but it is just not realistic especially with a 3 yr old who is disappointed when his brother goes to sleep. For some reason I just don't feel that Charlie is ready for self settling. I was quite firm with Max and he didn't sleep through until he was 2. Although Charlie doesn't spend his time screaming like Max did, he seems to just want movement. Serves me right for working like a maniac until 38weeks. He is probably used to constant movement. I am also getting very worried about Max. He is doing little poos all the time. He usually does these huge logs and I am feeling like he has lost muscle tone and cant help little bits coming out. DH is so frustrated with Max. I am also getting increasingly frustrated with his lack of variety in his diet and unwillingness to try new things. All not major things but I think I am feeling a little out of control. I am finally seeing MCHN tomorrow so I am sure I will have plenty to talk about. Oh and I have done nothing about Charlie's neck and it just doesn't seem right.

Jeepers I hate how I seem to go from feeling so peacefully happy to downright stressed. In fact I have had stress dreams for the last 2 nights and woke with a headache this morn.

Oh flip!!! Charlie has just woken. Of course DH is unavailable and I am way over it right now.

At least I know that all of this is short term and will pass but when????

mummy2Ali*Lachie
mum2max I am sorry you have such a sh*t time of it. I had a shocker of a night last night Lachlan is so totally the one in control here!! He keeps showing me the light and then taking it away. (sleeping through for a few nights then giving me a few nights of hell just to let me know I know nothing)!! He is teething badly though so it has to be that!!! Big hugs! I hope Charlie is a good boy today!!!
m2max
Thanks Wendy. Sorry to hear that Lachie appears to be having a hard time with the teeth. Not fun. Wil contact you re: next catch up.

Charlie ended up sleeping from 11 - 6:30 so I was grateful for that. I was going to rush to playgroup this morn but have decided to take it easy. Charlie has woken from a 1 1/2 hr sleep which enabled me to deal with another poo from Max (in o'night nappy) and then have a play etc. Off to nurse soon so will hopefully get a little clarity and direction.

Was having difficulty finding anything to wear and then found some control underwear. Feeling like I can go out in public. Fitting in my pre-pregnancy jeans but major mummy apron. All smoothed away now. Woo hoo!

Loving the rain we are having in Adl and milder weather. Bad part is having damp clothing drying everywhere. Trying not to use the drier this early in but so tempted. Can a chucky baby and pooey pre schooler justify the drier?

BBL for personals.

Before I go back & check past posts I wanted to post a quick update on us.

Remember I was worried a few weeks ago that Alexis wasn't smiling much.
Well, she has been smiling heaps for the last 2 weeks. It's soooo cute. She's got the cheekiest looking smile. Well worth the wait. So all is good now.
Mercurial
biene - glad to hear that she's smiling heaps now. Sounds like she may be a more serious baby so has just been biding her time and now she's started smiling she's realised she likes it!

m2max - I hear you with the mummy apron. Definitely need to invest in some control top underwear. Have one that does from thighs right up to under breasts but I was 15kg lighter then so not much chance it'll fit (not to mention far too hot). Just need a pair that sucks in the apron. YES the dryer can definitely be used when you have chucky babies. I've had the dryer on for hours and hours this week. No good about max and the little poos. DS did this when he was trying to avoid going to the toilet but bits would come out despite him trying to hold it in. His was fear of pooing due to constipation pain so we use movical half every two days as it's a stool softener and he can poo easily so has more control.

hoping - hope those teeth come through soon and ease his pain. The teething rings that are made of gel and you can put in the fridge to cool are great. You need a couple though as they warm up quick and you need to keep rotating them.

great8 - what a lovely family shot! You certainly have your hands full with such a big family.

madreader - yes she's come a long way from those first 3-4 weeks when she did nothing but lose weight. From her lowest weight she's put on 2kg but only 1.4kg from her birth weight.

Aaarggh back later - two kids both woken up at once.

Okay it's 1.5 hours later and both kids happy. Princess poo is doing exactly that - I've changed 4 poo nappies in 1.5 hours. Everything that goes in seems to come straight back out again.

Had a very busy day today - 2 loads of washing, vacuuming, mopping, mowing, cut up vegies for dinner for 6 adults, set the table with the good crockery/cutlery, trips to the fruit & veg store, empty the bins and put them out, sweep back patio, clean outdoor setting. I'm exhausted. But the house looks great.

Both my kids were rotten last night and we had a lot of screaming and crying at bedtime. DS having a tantie because he missed out on dessert because he wasn't doing as he was told. Little miss just wasn't settled and was so upset so I ended up feeding her again. She then woke at 4.30 this morning which was rude. Poo nappy the problem again though. She had a feed and thankfully went straight back to bed. To wake at 7am with another poo nappy. She was pretty cranky this morning - tired from fussy bedtime and early rise as she went down at 10.15 and only woke at 2.20 so a good four hour sleep (normal for her). She's nice and happy now and playing on the play gym thing. She's worked out she can reach some of the legs of the toys and put them in her mouth.
katiebelle
Hi everyone

Hope you are all going well.

M2max - Glad to hear that once Charlie went to sleep he did stay asleep for a while for you, those nights where they just wont settle are very frustrating

MOH - My DD2 seems to go a couple of days being a poo machine and pooing with every feed and every 30 mins in between to then a couple of days of one or two poos for the whole day

Biene - Glad you are getting lots of smiles now original.gif

austki - saw your post in the pram section. I have the Valco ION for 2, so the double version and use it for my two, DD1 is 2.5 and on the 75% for height and she fits in there comfortably when we go walking, I live in a very hilly area and I find it walks really well, I can tilt it easily with the two kids in it and I can even push it one handed up the hills (very steep). We took it to the shops last night and DH was steering for the very first time and he actually commented on how easy to steer it was etc, nice and light weight etc, so if the single version is made the same then I wouldn't have a problem recommending it

snoopy - Hope you enjoyed your birthday party, I am in the process of trying to do invites and organise my 30th birthday, I still feel funny thinking that I am going to be 30, I certainly don't feel old or anything but it seems strange to say it. Hope your lite n easy is going well

Great8 & Sundayj - Love the photos

AFUS - Had a photo shoot at playgroup today, we received a lotterywest grant and bought new equipment and so the local paper is doing a story, so I have been organising that, we are going down south this weekend for my cousins wedding, DH has just called to say that he has a job in 2 weeks time that will be down south for a few days as well so we will probably all go, with DH working so much at the moment everything just seems so busy and I just feel like I would like to lay around and have a little rest at some point in time
Audrey_baby
Hello all, been away from these forums for a good month now. TBH just couldn't handle reading about how so many of your babies were happily breastfed and I didn't want to compare myself and think of myself as a failure. The mind does crazy things doesn't it!!!

I went back to the doctors and got more domperidon and now we're up to only topping up with formula at the nighttime feeds. I'm finding it hard to find time to pump during the day to boost my supply up - esp when Abby is still feeding every 3 hours and feeds are still taking 1 of those hours sad.gif I've heard that if bubs doesn't get enough to drink during the day then they wake up at night - can anyone confirm that? Abby still wakes at 3am roughly (although this morning it was 2:30am) but she usually feeds and goes straight back to sleep which is good.

Having a lot of trouble getting her to sleep during the day, my sisters have told me horror stories of their first kids giving them settling grief as they were either rocked to sleep or dummies. I hold Abby up and pat her after her feeds to burp and during the day give her play time but getting her to sleep after playtime is where I'm failing. I'm trying to recognise the sleep signs early but she doesn't give me much time before she goes into crying mode. We have used dummies but she mostly spits them out (which we're happy about). Any advice would be appreciated.

Good to hear all your babies are doing well. Abby is just over 5kg now and in the 50th percentile. MCHN is happy we're still perservering with breastfeeding and that she's gained weight (I think that was because of the formula topups though).

OH and she got her tongue tie cut finally. It was only mild but doc cut it anyway as I was still having some attachment issues. Now she has to learn how to suck effeciently again.

I will write again later for an update on her 'birthmark' arm. She's on meds for it now poor thing.

toodles!
biene_maja
Audrey_baby - It is hard not to compare sometimes but believe me... I'm not one of those where breastfeeding is working perfectly. I thought things were getting better for a while but now we're back to her fussing & pulling off 1-2 min into a feed, having to top up with formula or EBM, expressing at least twice a day, bottle feeding the EBM & formula during the day and pretty much only manging proper feeds at night when she is half asleep. For some reason she stays on then. So you're not alone. I've sort of given up on breastfeeding 100%. I can't figure out why she does it and how to fix it so I decided to stress less about it.
I definitly believe that when a baby gets less at a feed they have more trouble falling asleep. Sometimes I need to give Alexis a little top up before she can fall asleep. Not feeding her to sleep but just a top up & then she falls asleep.
Seeing the tired signs can be difficult sometimes. I try to stick to our routine as much as possible so that I can also see (by looking at the clock) that she should be tired now (or hungry or whatever).

katiebelle - How exciting for your playgroup. New equipment is always great.

Great8 - Cute photo. Banjo looks like he's got a mohawk.

m2max & hoping - My kids also love torturing me in that way. Some nights are pretty good & then some are shocking. Just when they make you believe they are sleeping through now.. they take it away again.

MOH -

She then woke at 4.30 this morning which was rude!
Alexis must be an extremly rude baby then. She does that all the time. LOL
I used to say anything before 6 am is rude.

Mercurial
Biene - It was actually probably rude of me to make that comment as I know so many of you are still getting up during the night and early mornings! Sorry all. Just surprised me because it was so out of character for Caitlin. I use the clock more for my routines. If there are very obvious signs then I'll alter slightly but it usually seems to tie in. She'll start sucking her fist and sure enough I'll look and yep 2 hours since her last feed, time to feed again.

Audrey - big congrats for persisting with the BF (for you too Biene). I stopped with DS at 6 weeks but here I am at 12 weeks with Caitlin and still feeding. Makes me a bit guilty thinking should I have persisted with DS but I made the decision based on how I felt at the time and it was the right choice. 50th percentile is great so sounds like she's tracking really nicely. Must be exhausting for you expressing regularly.

katiebelle - I'm wondering if it's partly due to my diet or whether she's just getting more so pooping more. Either way I'm going through the nappies. Just wish she'd stop filling a nappy while I'm feeding her - just unpleasant. Hopefully you can squeeze some rest time in soon.

AFUS - Caitlin slept well last night but bad daytime sleep today. Woke after 1.5 hours screaming and wouldn't settle. Wouldn't even feed. Finally got her to sleep an hour later and she only slept for another hour so well short of her normal 4 hours. She's coping okay at the moment though and not too fussy. Nearly time for bath and the final feed so hoping she goes down okay.

DS has been sooky today. Just wants lots of cuddles. Pestered all day to co...

aarrgg - just got covered in poo. back later.
Fifi
Hi all! original.gif

Back again - a week later I think LOL!

biene-maja - Glad to hear Alexis is smiling! Sounds like she is making up for it now!

Audrey-baby - Don't worry about all the "happily breastfed" babies in here - I am sure there has been a lot of heartache for most of these Mums too as their babies worked it out. My Lily is"happily breastfed" but she has been the most difficult of my three to feed as she was really lazy in the beginning and now detaches every few minutes so swallows air and hence takes a while to get rid of wind. I fed my two boys until they were two so kind of thought that this third baby would be a breeze to feed LOL. What's her birthmark arm?

katiebelle - I hear you on the rest - I would love a rest at the moment. Really miss having my Mum around to help with this baby.

moh - sounds like an incredibly busy day. I was exhausted just reading about it LOL

m2max- Hmmm... think I should be looking for some of that underwear! Yep I take Lily's photos - I think my boys are glad they get a bit of a break now!

hoping4bubs - Wow Lachie is teething! That's pretty early - has he got any yet?

great8 - love the family pic - what a great looking set of kids!

madreader - Hope the Zoloft starts working for you soon. Lots of hugs!

Donna - Welcome back! Babies do go through a growth spurt at 3 months. I think Miss Lily is doing that at the moment. She is mixing up her routine a bit.

Jolsme - My DS1 had silent reflux - it is horrible to go through both for them and you! Hope it settles soon.

sundayj - cute pics!

eckstar - what a gorgeous pic! Yep enjoy having one child now - 2 and 3 get very busy!!!!

snoopytj - how scary for you! cute pics!

ausktl - hi!

mummyof3 - bugger about the pnd - hope it settles for you soon!

AFUS - Lily has been changing it up a bit over the last few days - think she is having a bit of a growth spurt plus she has been getting distracted when she is feeding and swallowing a lot of air so is more unsettled than usual. Hopefully she will return to normal programming soon!

Her most recent pics!

Just a quickie before bed

Fifi - Gorgeous pics

Audrey - I just couldn't go without replying to you. You are doing an amazing job perservering through Abby's feeding issues and slow weight gain etc. 50th percentile is great. I had MAJOR issues feeding my DD1 and at 5 weeks started her with formula top ups as she was only drinking EBM as she wouldn't suck when at the breast, it was heartbreaking as it would take me about 2 or 3 express sessions to get her enough milk to feed for one feed. I was dreading the thought of how I would cope with feeding this time and feeling a bit of guilt that if we had the same attachment and sucking issues then this baby wouldnt get EBM as I just wouldnt have the time, who would have thought that the experience could be so different second time around (so don't stress too much about feeding when it comes to any future babies as you just don't know what will come your way) hhugs.gif

Night all
*jax*
Hi Everyone

A few persies

Audrey - you sound like you are doing a terrific job, please don't be too hard on yourself. When you have a baby you literally walk around in a daze for the first year.
QUOTE
(so don't stress too much about feeding when it comes to any future babies as you just don't know what will come your way)

100% agree - I BF DD1 and DD2 and FF DD3 and DD4 (Mia), it's just the way it happens sometimes. Not sure about the lack of feeding during the day contributing to waking at night but her waking for a feed at 3am is completely natural. Some babies drop this feed and some don't. If she is going back to sleep and you are getting sleep I wouldn't stress.

fifi - Lily is gorgeous, what a sweety.

moh - how many nappies do you go through a day?? Caitlin is one super pooper!!

m2max - I hear you on the clothes. I have my sisters wedding in 10 days and all i can say is thank god for my maxi dress. It's a fancy one for special occasions and all floaty and wispy and hides all manner of bumps. Best of all I can also pig out at the wedding without getting that cut in half feeling. And the other bonus is when Mia chucks on me it will blend in as it has all different colours through it - win win for me! And my dryer has been getting a good working out, I say it's never too early.

biene - it's lovely when they chuck you a big gummy smile, that's what makes it all worthwhile. The only thing that can top it is when they get old enough to tell you how much they love you wub.gif

katiebelle - well done on the grant. I'm familiar with the grant process, you have so much paperwork to do and virtually have to jump through hoops to get one. The only downside is when you get a knockback after all the work. I once applied for the same grant and finally got it on the third round so I suppose in hindsight patience is the key. Happy toy shopping!

h4bubs - Bleugh, the joys of teething. Hope Lachie feels better soon.

AFUS - I finally dragged my bum off to the health nurse. Mia is just over 7kgs, length 62cm and head 42cm. Health nurse suggested I use cortisone cream on a little red patch in a chubby leg fold that never sees the light of day for 2 days, just in case it is eczema. DD1 had eczma when young so it's been awhile since I've seen it.

Hope everyone is having a great day so far waves.gif

Audrey_baby
Thanks for the reassuring comments. As crap as it sounds, it's good to also hear that others aren't finding it all roses and sunshine either. I enjoy feeding her though, just wish it was easier so I can concentrate on other things for a while original.gif Hang in there if anyone else is struggling - see your GP about Domperidon if you haven't tried it already!

Also about Abby's birthmark, I posted about a suspect 'mark' on her arm which doctor's thought was a bruise and we got investigated by the police and a hospital stay etc. Her lovely Paed has taken a keen interest in the mark as it has made her arm swell up and is quite dark and lumpy.

She is on beta blocker medicine twice a day now and we think its going down, next check up is next week. Problem is, medicine is making her quite grumpy during the day, not all day, but when she's tired mostly and so we have given her panadol a couple of times and that has seemed to do the trick. Hope this stuff works as I don't look forward to her growing up with it and having to explain to everyone (esp child health carers) it is not a bruise.

Also to those suffering PND - hang in there, big hugs to you. I thought I had it a while back but I think I was just stressed as I'm fine now (and I shouldn't be if I had PND apparantly).

Have any Brisbane ppl thought of a meet up? I go to my parent's class at the child health centre but they aren't very talkative and feels a little awkward atm.
*jax*
Audrey - I can't get the link to work (it may be me though) Would be interested to see it as DD3 was born with a very dark lumpy birthmark on her back.
Mercurial
Audrey - can't get the link to work either. Try uploading the photo so somewhere like photobucket and thinking linking it in. I asked a thread or two ago about a Brisbane meet up and only got one response (firstontheway). I'm keen so we might set a day/date for a few weeks time and see who's interested.

jax - about 8 nappies at present. Which isn't a super amount it just seems that you change her and 20 mins later you're changing her again. She woke at 4am this morning with a dirty nappy - grr for poos interrupting her sleep time. Fed her and she went back to sleep til 8 so not too bad. Trying to find a decent maxi dress for my brother's wedding in two weeks. Unfortunately everyone has only got sale stock left of summer stuff so it's the weird looking prints that I don't like or only two sizes (at the other end of the spectrum from what I need!).

fifi - Caitlin has been distracted when feeding a lot. This last feed involved 3 chucks, a pooey nappy, swapping sides 6 times, just really all over the shop. Have put her down for her sleep but I can hear her fussing. That's the problem with going away for a few days - you've then got to squeeze everything into shorter periods of time when you get back. Your photos are fantastic.

AFUS - Just realised there's poo on the floor from yesterday's poonami, best clean that up. Feel like both kids are a bit sooky at the moment. Nothing too extreme but just a bit more work and needing more love and cuddles. Have had some work to do this week which part of me hates but another part is so relieved because it means money coming in thankfully. Starting to feel now the lack of my income (or as much). We're hopeless at cutting our spending too but really need to start thinking everything through.
Audrey_baby
MOH add me if you have Facebook - Audrey Pershouse. Any other brisbanites can add me too. Just say you're from this forum in the message box request thingo.

Jax - I was told the lumpyness was from the lymph nodes or something to do with the lymphatic system. Doc didn't seem too worried - then again neither does Abby. If it was hurting her we'd be in a different situation altogether.
Frau Farbissina
hi all

BF - still going along OK but it feel like i'm oscillating between days of having a lot of milk, and lots of leaks, to days of what feels like running on empty and Adam not getting enough (so it seems). Adam's already experimenting with the nipple, pulling on it and biting with gums. Some bf's set me on edge. Even though it's not hurting, his attachment gives me the same reaction to nails down a chalk board lol.

daytime sleeps - these seem to be hit and miss with Adam. Sometimes he has lots of little catnaps all day long, and other days he will do a good 1.5 hours or so in the middle of the day, with a little nap in the mornng and aftenoon too. Audrey_baby, haven't got any good advice that you probably haven't already heard about settling. All I can say is hang in there, it will eventually sort itself out. It could be a few months yet, but really, that's just a matter of weeks, right?

AFM - i'm so zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. my sleep has been really crap lately and basically only getting about 4-5hrs a night. And I can't even blame the kids (much). between the two of them, I'm awoken somewhere between 4 and 5 am atm, and getting back to sleep is so hard! And don't seem to be able to fall asleep before midnight! I've been trying to meditate to sleep the last few nights, which has worked. but it doesn't seem to do the same trick in the early hours. anyway, so I'm feeling like a zombieee. Would love to get in 6 hours in total tonight. Getting back to 8 hours a night like it was before kids is a goal I hope to achieve one day (like in 5 years I guess!) lol

I can't believe i'm watching Alf, and Full house is on next. it's almost so bad it's good. reliving childhood lol

DS1 is still asleep (rare afternoon nap today) and DH s at uni tonight. I'm tired.... looks like it's bad food on the menu for dinner. Yipee (tinged with guilt)
