Ok, so I have recently found out we are expecting baby #3... After many years of IVF & the loss of our first child, we are once again over the moon...
We had a little Boy Jack Robert (who passed 26 days old due to complications from extreme prematurity 24 weeks)
We now have a 1 yo DD Amelia Margaret....
So these are the names I like, but are they old fashioned or classic.... Which ones do you guys think will go with our previous bubs names?
Girls -
Grace Iris
Elizabeth Mabel
Mabel Grace
Rose Mabel
Martha Mabel
Sarah Mabel
Gabrielle Mabel
Boys -
William Luke
Oliver Luke
Elliott Luke
Harrison Luke
Charles Luke
Well that is what I have so far... any other suggestions feel free!
As you can tell - Mabel & Luke will be the middle names (most probably) after the bubs Great Grandparents!

All the names including your kids' names are pretty classic, except for Mabel, Martha and Iris which were terribly out of fashion old ladies' names until about 10 years ago when they made a come back. Rose and Grace were in this category a little bit, but they are so lovely it doesn't matter.
How about Grace Elizabeth or Sarah Grace or Rose Elizabeth.
TBH, I don't mind Mabel but it reminds me of a character from a Gilbert and Sullivan show.
All the boys names are classic, Harrison, Elliot and Oliver maybe being a bit less popular in some age groups. Elliot came back with ET. Harrison with Harrison Ford.

I like Elizabeth Mabel from the girls list and Oliver Luke and Elliott Luke from the boys. I do prefer Elliot with only one T and would probably choose it over Oliver as it's less popular.

Classic v old fashioned? Probably depends on your definition. My definition of a classic name is one that does not wax and wane in its use and that would be very few names. I think Elizabeth fits that bill. Others may be classic in style and would include for me names that are old but have gone out of fashion then returned ie names like Charles.
Old fashioned may be used to describe a name that may not have a really long tradition behind it but was popular a couple of generations ago and may or may not be enjoying a comeback ie names like Mabel.
Anyway the girls' name that appeals to me on your list is Martha. You don't hear it very often but when I see it on a young person it seems stylish and individual. I also quite like Rose and Grace as first names (to me Rose is classic and Grace came back a while ago). I also like Elizabeth as the quintessential classic and for the wide choice in nicknames.
For boys my choice would be William. Traditional name that is well-loved in this generation. I don't regard Harrison or Elliott as classic given names, more like modern given names that were perhaps inspired by well-known people. They are NMS. Oliver is a nice, solid name.

Grace Iris - I'm so over Grace at the moment.
Elizabeth Mabel - this is lovely.
Mabel Grace - Mabel is OK.
Rose Mabel - See Grace.
Martha Mabel - I don't mind Martha, but with Mabel it is too old fashioned. Martha Iris?
Sarah Mabel - this is pretty.
Gabrielle Mabel - I love Gabrielle, but not with Mabel. Gabrielle Iris?
As it stands, Elizabeth Mabel or Sarah Mabel. But Martha Iris or Gabrielle Iris would be great.
Boys -
William Luke
Oliver Luke
Elliott Luke
Harrison Luke
Charles Luke
Definitely Oliver Luke or Elliott Luke. The others are OK but don't wow me.

So sorry that you lost your precious little Jack.
These names are all classic and not old-fashioned. It's a nice list.
Mabel is probably the only one I baulk slightly at - it seems a bit more old ladyish. But it's ok as a middle name.
I basically agree with everything that blondiebear said

I have a weakness for so called old lady names, so my favourite names on your girls list are Mabel and Martha. If I had to choose between these two it would be Mabel.
Grace and Rose are my least favourite on your list. Far too common (as in popular) and a little blunt sounding.
As for boys, of all the names Luke is my favourite, so I would bump that up to the first name. I also like Charles.
William, Oliver and Elliott are far too popular for my taste and Harrison happens to be one of my least favourite names ever.
Congratulations and good luck!

I like all of your boy choices.
Not big on Mabel or Martha for a first name, but Mabel as a MN would be nice. I like Elizabeth or Grace the best as first name choices.

I love the name Mabel... It's my DD's second name and we got a lot of looks for choosing it as apparently it's only for old ladies... But I LOVE it!!!
To pick from your list I love either Rose Mabel or Elizabeth Mabel and for the boys I love all of them except for Charles (NMS)...
Congrats and good luck choosing!!

Mabel is a FANTASTIC name!

It took people a little while to get used to, and I had plenty of people having to pick their jaws up off the ground when I'd tell them her name, but now I get nothing but nice comments on it

I also like Rose from your list. Mabel Rose, or Rose Mabel would be my picks, but they are all pretty good names, I don't think you can go wrong.
I like Charles and William from your boys list

FWIW, I have a Jack William and a Mabel, and we are looking at Rose (or some form of (Primrose hopefully!)) for this next baby if it's a girl. We must have similar tastes

Thank you all so much...
So think we are leaning towards...
Harrison Luke for a boy &
I really do love Mabel for a first name... But maybe have Elizabeth as the second name???
Luckily we still have about 12 weeks before we have to decide... or maybe 34w if we decide not to find out (yeah right)...
Thanks again for all your import!
