My DH has been invited to a Black Tie Charity Dinner and obviously needs a partner to go with him. I'm not really the dressing up type at the best of times, let alone when I am 20 weeks pregnant....

What on earth do I wear? Where should I go shopping in Sydney to get it?

Obviously I don't want to spend an absolute fortune as I don't really think I will be going to another Black Tie Dinner when I am 20 weeks pregnant again.

Please help me.........I'm stressed

As you may or may not have much of a baby belly at 20 weeks, I would probably just play it safe and go with a baby-doll style dress (long or short). You could easily wear it again after you have had the baby then. Really depends on how much you want to spend as to where to shop.....

First of all - don't stress!

I've been to a few similar events and IMO a cocktail dress is far more suitable to wear to an event like this than a red carpet style ballgown.

Firstly - check your wardrobe. Is there anything that you have that will fit? You wont be too big at that point so if you have a stretchy 'dressy' number you could wear that.

Failing that, can you ask any friends?

As a PP mentioned, ebay is a good option. Otherwise most of the online maternity boutiques have affordable cocktail dresses.

I was reading an article today about a woman who set up a business (Glamour Mumma) hiring maternity fashion outfits for pregnant women. I think it was around $100 so not cheap but that includes dry cleaning and pick up of the outfit (and they might even come to you).

It's possibly another option if it is a really formal do. It might only be in Melbourne though.

Thanks so much for your great ideas Ladies. I have ordered a dress and am now excited about the prospect of a free fancy night out! We will even have live in baby sitters at the time - what a novelty.
