I am sick to death of my hair. It's just dead straight with no body at all. I've been growing it and it's not a shade past my shoulders, all i do is just wear it up in a pony tail. I don't really want to cut it as all i do then is complain that i can't do anything with it.

What can i do to give myself more style?

I'm on a bit of a self improvment kick this year, taking the time to discover myself, my style and find a personality in here somewhere lol

ETA I'm kinda chubby (size 18) with a oval face, olive skin, my hair is currently light blackish (faded lol) as it's easiest way to cover the grey. Oh and i'm 28.

My hair is really straight too and a little bit shorter than yours. When I have time I spray it with KMS Volume (http://www.kmscalifornia.com/#/en/portfolio/styling/root-and-body-lift) and then blow dry upside down (finishing off with the cold setting to keep some of the volume in) and then ghd the top layers and ends to get them to sit right.

When my hair was longer I would use the ghd to curl the ends for something a bit more intersting. I hope this helps and good luck with your self improvement kick!

Thank you :-)

I don't even own a hair dryer, or any beauty products, or make up..

Wow, I think it's going to be a BIG year lol

Hi, I have super straight, fine FLAT hair. I've had the same hairdo for about 10 yrears now and I'm so sick of my hair too! mines shoulder length, with 1/2 head of blonde foils and it gets parted on the side and worn up in a claw clip everyday!!! I'm really sick of flat straight hair too so i will be watching this thread with interest!

I also have dead straight hair that is fine but a lot of it.

Firstly, find a really good hairdresser who can really cut. My hair is quite long as I find that gives me the most flexibility. It is past my bra strap but I have layers above my ears so I can get real volume into the crown area.

I either use a straightener to 'enhance' my natural straightness and make it really edgy or I use a hairdryer to get some volume and then leave kind of messy/tousled.

Adding highlights gives the hair more volume.

you could also try getting it layered so it looks more choppy.

I got my hair layered at the ends and got a fringe as well.
Semi permanent always makes the hair look glossy.

Another one here with dead straight flat hair. Not to mention REALLY thin as well. I blowdry it upside down for a bit more body. Then tease at the roots a little bit if I want to wear it out & straight.

I also have a 3 barrel waver that I sometimes use: eg...

Or have you tried hair extenstions? They help make hair look fuller as well, I love mine original.gif

I'd suggest you make a consultation appointment (a one-off) with the best hairdresser you can afford, and have a chat to them about all your dramas. But do get a good one.

I have thick curly hair and just wear a pony tail wink.gif ... we are never happy with what we have.

I 2nd suggestions of a good hairdresser and some foils. I found one hairdresser who could cut my hair so it didn't have too much volume and OMG the difference! I could actually wear my hair out. Unfortunately she moved sad.gif

Blowdrier and volumising products would be your friend.

I can't do layers as I find it is just too flyaway and looks very whispy, I do end up with a ponytail most days.

I have dead straight hair, too. People always ask me what straightener I use as it is SO straight.

I have it cut in a short bob, just less than jaw length, and I have a fairly solid, straight fringe. I also have it coloured every six weeks (kind of a bright auburn, for lack of a better description).

I am fairly happy with the style/colour and regularly get compliments on both, even though, in a perfect world, I would have lovely thick hair with some movement in it!

I wash and blow dry it every day and use mousse to give it a bit more volume. I also blow dry from the roots to give it a bit more lift.
Wut??
Mine is dead straight too. To the point where when I was living in singapore other anglos would stop me in the street to ask about my anti frizz product. I have a short, cropped cut.

I found when I had it long, like you, I'd simply put it up in a ponytail. Short works best for me.

My hairdo to deal with my super fine, flat, straight hair is to use one of those mesh bun things, i dont know the technical name for them, but they look like a doughnut made of brown mesh and you make a ponytail , put the mesh thing over and then pin the hair around in into a nice full bun. For going out I make a side fringe, then do a high glossy bun, lots of hairspay. for daytime I do a rougher bun, looser and not as much spray. You can get these from hairhouse warehouse, there are 2 sizes and I use the smaller one for day and 1/2 up 1/2 down styles and the larger one for night, glossy smooth bun. makes my fine hair look full with not a lot of effort. I'm too lazy to blowdry everymorning so up do's are good for me. otherwise as I just do a boring old claw clip, but have been doing that for too long now and need to venture out!!!
