Me: pretty quiet weekend. Dh was at golf all day saturday (left at 8am and got home close to 4pm) so i have stored that one in my memory bank for when i need a girls day out original.gif we went into the hills yesterday and stocked up on fresh produce - all farmer direct and so very very fresh. beautiful.
our neighbour is being a knob again. i heard him verbally abusing his partner on friday morning and as i said to my dh, if he ever spoke to me like that he would not be welcomed home original.gif he was dropping the F word left right and centre and slamming doors. at least he isn't selective as to who he abuses i suppose and no wonder she hasn't married him. we then went outside this morning and he has weeded his rose area and thrown the weeds on our driveway. what sort of person does that?? we reckon he is mentally unstable and just very vicious. for example, dh mowed our lawn yesterday so he is out there at 7.30am today, mowing his. just a weirdo. we, of course, are not going to do anything in retaliation because, well we are adults and we also dont trust what he would do next. knobhead.

I was going by the date I originally thought I was due, which was the 13th or 14th!!! but the scan said the 18th . Sorry about the confusion!!!
So as I was dead unsure of my dates( only had that one cycle) we went for the later one which is more accurate anyway.Anyway I am rambling!!!

How many words do your little ones have?

I have been thinking for a couple of weeks that E is quite behind where she should be, the MCHN pulled me up on it too when E had her 18month check, she gave me a book to teach kids how to talk, which basically just said repeat everything and always talk to her. Which we do :(and just now the daycare ladies have pulled me up because she doesn't say please or thank you sad.gif (she sometimes says da-da which means thank you but not consistently).
ToodlePopsMum
im not sure how many words Aley has to be honest and he doesn't say please or thank you consistently either. every now and again he will say "dand you mummy" and "ta" when prompted.

here is a brief, off the top of my head list:
* mummy/mumma
* daddy/dadda
* piper (our dog)
* dat mine (that's mine), combines it with "dat my mummy", "dat my daddy"
* me,
* mine
* nooooooo (VERY good at this one!)
* bart (bath)
* ower (flower)
* ish (fish)
* bye bye
* ee ya (see ya)
* hi (combines it with "hi mummy", "hi daddy")
* yucky (this one has only been very recent)
* doodle cool.gif
* bum cool.gif
* ouch
* uck (duck)
* dack, dack (quack, quack)
* each (beach)
* utton (button)
* tuck (truck)
* dar (car)
* nanna
* darden (pardon - used when burps or pop offs!)
* dink (drink)
* dapes (grapes)

there may be more but i can't think of them right now. dr google will tell you what should be age appropriate.

this is quick a useful link:
One to Two Year Old Language Development

just as a side, we kept a list of Joshy's words by the age of two and he had a staggering 264 words (i know it was that many as i kept it on an excel spreadsheet), so see there really is no comparison. each child develops at their own rate. i know of a child (mega moles kids from playgroup) who wasn't speaking AT ALL by 2 and a half, he had a bit of speech therapy (not that she ever told anyone!) and now he is up to speed for his age. Joshy on the other hand has the comprehension and sentence structure of someone at least 2-3 years his age. he holds better conversation with his near on 8 year old cousin than he does with his other cousin who is only 4 months older. God help school is all i can say!!!!

Hello ladies
KALITA Bella NEVER says thankyou! Doesn't even make a token effort to say any FORM of thankyou at all! She says mum, dad, Grace and um and some of my families' names but that's about it. Just the last couple of days she's started trying to say ball and it's really cute. Other than that it's all nonsense sounding stuff coming out but sooo cute. They are all different, and as long as Emma has no hearing probs she'll come along as she's supposed to; you know she has all her faculties happy.gif . By the way, I'm so happy that she doesn't need surgery, what a load off!
BLESSED not long now! My guess is 15th Feb (go into labour late valentines day) and a boy, 9lb 1oz.
LISA how did you go at the supermarket with the four kiddies? Nothing like having your kidlets doubled blink.gif . Good on ya if you went! Not long till school now happy.gif .
TPM ooh your neighbour sounds shocking. Poor thing. We have some ferally ones too but keep a good distance usually and it's all okay. There's no abusing each other so that's a good start. Make sure you get your day away won't you!
KATH you keep reminding me I must get back into the scrapbooking; I have to finish my wedding album - well we've only been married 11 years hehe; and start Bells album. You are such a goer. How long till you're on maternity leave?
HELLO Everyone else!!!
I am back to work on the weekend. Went to see the surgeon about my wound today and he said he might need to put a drain back in it next week. The nurse thought I would need at least another 2 weeks off but he said this weekend would be fine to go back. b*st*rd. Now I'll miss the start of the biggest loser! Will tape it though. Must be off and cook bloody tea xx Rachel.
ToodlePopsMum
Rach: oh dont you worry about that! i will most definately get my girls day off! my best friend is thinking of having a girls only sunday lunch at one of the posh, by the river pubs so i will be there! i missed it last year for $$ reasons but not this year. i have added your guessathon details to the main page original.gif

so what's for dinner tonight girls? i am doing french cut lamb cutlets with ratatouille on basmati rice. never made ratatouille before so it will be interesting!
kalita
Thanks for that link TPM, E is pretty much on track according to that, she's got about 10-15 words. Everything else (understanding what I say, gesturing etc) is spot on happy.gif

We did pizza for tea ph34r.gif E is refusing pretty much all food except weetbix, apple slices, fish, and cheese, so I figure even pizza is better nutrients than none at all rolleyes.gif Thankfully she loves her vitamin supplement (and has been known to throw tantrums when I won't let her have more than she's allowed every day laughing2.gif )
paddington13
K - don't listen to MCHNs, they are evil and make you feel guilty about things that aren't even a problem.
I have found B has a better time saying 'ta' than 'thank you', but she will only say it when she really wants something. Honestly, most adults don't say thank you when they should.
Glad E doesn't have to have surgery! Yay! That must be a relief. My friend's girl is still in a brace after hip surgery, and it is pretty hard all round.

Gotta go, BBL. My pelvis is killing me....
winelover
Funnyfarm - I spied you reading - please drop in and say Hi to our group.
winelover
Paddy - ouchy to your poor pelvis

Kalita - Pizza - yum! I agree with the others - don't stress too much about what the MCHN say. I think all kids do things at their own pace. For example Tayla's eye teeth have only just started to poke through. And a girl at daycare whose 1st Birthday was 14th January (ie 8 months younger than Tayla) is just as tall as her. Since we got home from xmas holidays we have kind of had a real blitz on using "please" and "thankyou" in our house. At Grandma's manners didn't seem to matter too much - Tayla pretty much got everything her own way. In 3 weeks we have seen a real improvement. People say 'ta' to Tayla and are really amazed when she just comes out with "Tank you". As for talking apparently she is a real chatterbox - just like her Mum!! She is a real parrot and repeats everything we say. Yesterday dh got caught out saying b*st*rd - then he corrected himself and said bugger. TJ repeated both, much to our disgust!

Toodles - we had zucchini slice, salad and sausages for dinner

Rach - Maybe when you go on mat leave you can scrapbook lol. I am thinking I will work 2 or 3 weeks into term 2. That means my last day will be 30th April or 7th May. I'm undecided. I'll just see how I go this term. It's not like last pregnancy when I was working full time - I am only working 2 days a week. But then again, now I have a toddler to look after. I am such a Libran and bad at making decisions.

Blessed - I can relate to irregular cycles!

Lisa - I hope you have survived the day with a little bit of sanity, you poor thing. You need a good horseride with your GF to have a good unload and b**ch session.

Us - More nesting - this time in the garden after TJ had gone to bed. Had to wait until then as dh is working for vintage tonight. I went until about 9:10 when the mozzies chased me inside!

winelover
Happy Australia Day.

Quiet in here today.
adelaryln
kalita- if she's listenig to and responding to instructions then i woudln't worry too much at all. some kids just hodl it in longer then blurt it all out at once. not all kids say please and ta. and mcn's are there to make you feel like you don't know your child well enough. gosh how often do they see your child compared to you?

TPM- your dinner sounded lovely

Pad- hope pelvis is ok today. is tht the SPD thingy?

poor hubby has the gastro today. so i dare say kids will get it soon. dd is 3 on monday so hopefully she's not sick then.
luckyaussiemum
Ok, I made a post on Sun and it isn't here, its missing rant.gif

Kalita Don't fret to much re the speech. My DS1 didnt say much other than Mum, Dad, Drink & food, all he needed to say until 2.5 at least, then only added a few words after that. Then by 3 he woke up and decided to talk and has never shut up since! Dempsey only says about 10 words tops, then after he has mastewred them he stores them away and just laughs at you when u try to get him to say them again! He used to sa TA all the time now he just laughs at us like why would I want to say that I already no how to rolleyes.gif !

BBL

MAYJOR WHINGE AHEAD

There is peace in the house!
DP has just left with his girls.

I wish I could say it was a walk in the park but I was near breaking point last night. DS and DSD1 just do not get along they are at each other constantly through the day DSD1 acting like his keeper and DS just annoying her cause he can.

I was so sick of the high pitch whiny voice b**ching about each other.

Last night went to see the local fireworks and kids just were off their nut from my mum giving them lollies during our BBQ lunch. I was ready to send them all off to boarding school!

DSdD1 is jealous if I cuddle or kiss DP so we know thats causes some drama and avoid doing it near her. Last night at the fireworks DP went to cuddle me cause I gave my jumper to the kids and she pushed in between us, so we left it go.

The other thing is they get treated like 2-3 yr old rather than 7-8 yr olds by their mum. their mum still washes them in the shower and does everything for them. Here they have to make their beds have their own showers clean up after them self and they really dont like it.

I suppose if they lived here full time which will happen eventually then they would get used to the rules and be a bit more independent but for the moment I'll just hit my head against a brick wall.

thanks for listening girls

hopeforthefuture
winelover - I just got a cheapo plastic potty. It is to be kept in the playroom downstairs. When we are actually TT, I am going to get one that goes onto the toilet with little stairs.

You are such a good girl, still doing pram pushers. I can barely do anything while I am PG.

blessed - I am keeping my guessathon the same. I have a feeling..... the 9th of Feb.

kalita - I can't believe someone said something to you about Emma not saying please or thankyou! Unbelievable!

Annabelle, until about a month ago, had no regular words. A couple would come and go, but they would never stay. But recently she has had a word explosion, but still does not say please or thankyou.

The words she says are:
Mummy
Daddy
Truck
Duck
Stuck
More
Dog
Eye
Hat
Hot
Icecream
Hello
Bye
Car
Bus
Baby
Shoes
High (in twinkle, twinkle)
Upsy (of the Diasy variety - loves ITNG)
She also makes the sounds of a dog, snake and a monkey

The words she has said, but doens't regularly used.
Cup
Beans
Banana
Ta
G.G. (Great Grandma)

So, you see, not many. And they are of course, not pronounced correctly, but in the cute toddler prounounciation. And no combined words.

Lisa - Well, at least school is going back.

AFM - I have had a cleaning frenzy today. I have basically cleaned the whole house today. Thank god for CC. But nearly time to pick her up. I miss my little darling on CC days.

Well, she only stayed in her cot the one night. I am at a loss to know what to do. I am getting really worried about her sleeping. I think I will go post in the sleeping section of EB and see if anyone can help. Please come and make any suggestions ig you can. I just don't know how I am going to manage the nights with her and a newborn.

ETA: Shoes! She says shoes to.
*~Lisa~*
GGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRR I had a post typed and lost it!

Anyway E is speaking heaps loads of works but its because she is a pariote and repeates everything we say. While walking around the supermarket I point out the fruint and she repetes the name.
Can be very cute but also bad because I tend to swear and she copies.

Potty- havent brought one I might pick up a cheapy one though.

Beds- Has anyone NOT up the duff thought about moving their kids into a normal bed yet? I'm think after she turns 2 because he is getting heavy to lift inot the cot. I'm in no rush but she doesnt seem like a baby anymore and the cots the last thing.
Her highchair is going tomorrow (well packed in the shed) takes up too much room so she is getting a booster seat for the table. She has one at mums and loves sitting with everyone else.

ok let see if this one works!
luckyaussiemum
Lisa been thinking about a big bed for Dempsey as he moves around so much and smacks his head, legs out side of cot between rails etc. That means buying DD a bigger bed though as D is going tio have her old one and she a double bed.

Well Dempseys word list is

Shoes
Car
Haey (Harry-cat)
Mum
Dad
Briee (Bridie -sister)
Ta (but mainly laughs when prompted)
Whats that

and thats it really rolleyes.gif

Bridie was talking sentences by same age, Riley, DS1, didnt talk much until 3 then made up for lost time so not worried to much, each to their own really!

back to work
ToodlePopsMum
Bed: nope. Not even contemplating it at this stage. He only weighs 12.5kgs so is still easy to lift in and out and he seems to really love his cot so will keep it that way till he starts to complain and/or attempts to climb out. He has been in a booster for ages as he just never seemed happy in the highchair original.gif

adelaryln
beds- ds is moving into a new room so i thought i'd try the bed thing, but if it doesn't work i'll put him in a porta cot or simply jsut assemble the other cot. we're lucky enough to have been given 2.

lisa- it does take time but if you and dp remain consistent with your rules (and dp MUST back you up at all times) it will get better. dsd is a different child to when she first came here. she has alot more respect now and we have no dramas at all. she is a typical 11 yr old but nothing to do with being a step kid. her bio mum has alot of difficulties with her simply because she never laid ground rules and isn't consistent.

speech- i got a pamphlet from day care outling when a speech therapist needs to intervene. it said if by the age of 2 they can't say 2 words together, eg dad work, then maybe consider it. none of our babies are 2 yet so i'm not worrying yet. ds says there it is when he finds soemthng. so cute

hftf-can you try sleeping in her room on a mattress until she is used to you not being there?

AFM- had my gyno appointment this morning. had to wait over 1 hr to get in!!but it was the one we saw when we lost our little boy so that was good. i usually see them for the initial visit then go to the midwives from there. but not allowed to this time because they're classing it as risky even though everything is fine but because they have no answers as to what happened last time. he said later on i might be able to go to midwives. i've also gotta do the glucose test next week(19weeks). he said he'd rather pick up any nasties now rather than wait til i'm 29 weeks. and yesi've still gotta have it then too. i should be ok as i've hardly eaten anything bad or too sugary.
ToodlePopsMum
Adarlyn: wow. your pregnancy seems to be flying by! i think it is great that your OB is being so thorough. have you found out/are you going to find out what colour you are having? sorry if you have told us that before. i can't remember my own name at the moment wink.gif

me: went to weight watchers this morning and have lost 1kg this past week so i am very happy with that. my total loss is now 15.4kgs so getting there. at least another 10kgs and i will be happy i think. i haven't been this weight for a while now so am pretty pleased with myself original.gif i seem to have inadvertedly (sp?) inspired a few people around me as well. My DH has lost 5kgs and one of my best friends has lost a couple of kgs too. My post baby body though is still BLURGH. A lot more flabby floppy bits than i used to have even though i weight less now than when i fell pregnant with Joshy.

off to make banana bread now. have lots of over ripe bananas so dont want to waste them. oh and i have been requested to make spaghetti blowyournose (bolognaise) tonight so need to get cracking on the sauce so it can simmer. sooooo not a 37 degree day type of dinner but i made the mistake of asking joshy what we should have for dinner.

Hi All

We are having spag bog also! Had a thai beef salad last night!!
All well here. Lots of pressure now baby fairly well down and jumping on my cervix with those lovely electric shock type thngs!!
Well better go. Sorry for no personals.

Ais has alot of words, but her brother had very few until he was around 2.5. They are all differeent. I also find the MCHN can freak you out. I dont like going to them at all.
