Hi,
I desperately need a new hair style.
My hair is long, thick, curly and frizzy
I have to wet it everyday and it takes 30 min just to brush it, that is with no style or anything.
I would like to get something shorter but have no idea what, when I have no length in my hair it goes all poofy.
Here is a pic with my hair straightened which is what I do when I have the money
pic of meHere is my everyday style, just a pulled straight back
pic of me 2Please help.

Your links aren't working for me.
Here's a few don'ts for curly hair, though.
DON'T EVER brush curly hair! That's what makes it go frizzy.
Don't wash everyday. Just condition if you have to.
Find a decent hair moisturiser and use it daily (I have been using one by vita5 for 15 years now. It isn't silicone based, so I don't get any build up and it doesn't go greasy (Price Attack for about $16 and last about 9 months for me).
Use a wide tooth comb in the shower and that's it!
Don't play with it - it breaks up the curls and gives you frizzies and fly aways.

I can't see your pics either but I too have long thick curly fuzzy hair. I HATE it with a passion BUT I brought a GHD straightener and found a great haridresser that thins my hair every 12 weeks and now I love my hair. I wash it every 2-3 days now of a night and let it dry naturally. The next morning I straighten it and then for 2 -3 days it stays straightened. I get so many comments about my hair now and I wear it out often. Before my GHD I never ever wore it out.

Sorry I dont know how to link pics of me from facebook and my pc crashed so that is the only pics I have of me.
Jusstyce - I have a straightener but I can't reach the back of my hair and there is so much of it it takes me hours. If I had the money id permanently straighten it.
Yummymummy - I dont brush my hair I use a comb and only comb when wet.
How do you find a good hairdresser that doesnt charge the earth.
I always ask the hairdresser to recommend hair styles and they always say it is up to me and hand me a few mags to look at, but noone in those mags look like me or have my type of hair.

i have very thick hair that goes frizzy-it was really long until a couple of weeks ago. I got it chopped to shoulder length then some layers put in that are quite long so it can be straightened easily. I also use a shampoo that locks in moisture so my hair is less frizzy, and add some product to it when it is wet (either frizz-off or "seal the ends"). Combined with blowdrying it straight and running a straightener through it it is so much less frizzy now even in this humidity.

Ask the hairdresser for long layers, either framing your face or not - whichever you prefer. This should give it some shape and thin the bottom half (the frizzier half?) out.

I use to have thick curly hair that I would only ever wear pulled back because I could never get it to look nice wearing it out. Last year I had a friend challenge me to try and change my style so I did - and I love it.
I found a salon that I liked the look of - not the most expensive and not the cheapest. When I made the appointment I specifically asked for someone who was good with thick and curly hair. The hairdresser they recommended was wonderful. It's the first time I've found a hairdresser that I've liked. All I had to say was that I wanted a change and she did the rest.
I went from below the shoulder frizz to just below the ears defined curl. I can't believe how easy it is to style in the morning - just wet, product and go. It's almost as easy as the ponytail I use to live in. I loved it so much that i've been back to the same hairdresser again and again.
So my suggestion is to find a salon you like the look of and ask for someone who knows curly and thick hair. And hopefully you'll find someone who can help work out the best style for you. It's taken me 32 years to find a hairdresser that I like, but I'm proof that if I can do it, anyone can.

wow this is inspiring to hear! I have been thinking about changing my hair - I have frizzy but soft wavy long hair and I tie it back in a big bun every day because it's too hot and I have no idea what to do with it. I feel like I'm still 14 (but unfortunately the rest of me doesn't!) definitely time for a change. I'd love to see some before and after pics if anyone wants to post?
