Can anyone recommend a miracle cure to help me with my nails. They always slip or crack at the edges and never grow out past my fingertip?
Any cures would be much appreciated
TIA

I highly recommend the supplement Silicea. It's a liquid taken orally, the brand is Hubner & its available at chemists & health stores.
I know a few people who take it & all have noticed improvement in nail strength & hair condition. Seems to work much better than the regular hair, skin & nail tablets.

I was going to recommend hair, skin and nails. I think the blackmores one was the one that worked best for me.
Also Dr Lewinns nail strengthener (or something like that) you apply two coats, and everyday top up a coat. I think you do it for a week or two?
Also, file them. It makes them stronger!

I have started using a product called Healthy Hoof, Hoof Lacquer.
I bought it off the internet after googling it and finding the best price. I have never been able to grow my nails as they are normally paperthin and break so easily.
I'm very happy to say that it has made a huge difference and my nails have grown past the end of my fingers and I can tell they are much stronger.
I was put on to this by my Mum who got it from her hairdresser as she was able to get it from those wholesale hairdresser supply shops but can no longer get it.
I also bought a good nail file that i carry with me always so that if I do get a little chip in my nail i file it straight away to avoid my whole nail peeling off.

I gave up long ago and started getting gel or acrylic overlays. Much easier, they always look good and never break but it ruins your natural nail underneath. If you do it your in for the long haul.

I always use nail polish, I find it keeps my nails nice and hard. I have heard that weak nails are caused by a vitamin deficiency.

I found Dr Lewins Revitanail works for me - I have been using it for 5 years and my nails are really strong.
It costs about 23.00 at the moment on special but one bottle lasts me a year - I use it once a week with a top coat.

I also suggest taking a "silica" supplement. A friend takes a tablet a day, and has a drastic improvement in her hair and nails.

I would actually disagree on the filing front. I think you should just clip them. Mine used to crack and split and I was forever trying to keep them filed neatly. They grew just past my fingertips and then started peeling or splitting. Technically, filing should be only in one direction, but since it's so much easier just going back and forth - it can make splitting worse for some people. Have you ever tried just clipping them? That's all I've done now for years and my nails are now super strong. I actually need to cut them every two weeks now. I've managed to clip them into shape perfectly now - most people think I file/manicure. Strangely, since I gave up filing, I now can't bear to have them filed. Makes my skin crawl. Nails on a board type of thing.
Do try a good cuticle cream though. Strengthen them from the base.

My nail technician told me that her mother takes Emu Oil Capsules!
I thought it was rather weird at first but decided that my nails were that bad it was worth a go.
I have bought them from both our health food shop and via EBAY and they work wonders.
My nails are now really really long and hard, and dont split or break until they get really really long (but by that stage they are annoying anyway so I trim them)/
Emu Oil capsules have started to become hard to find though so the other thing you could try is Mavala nail strengthener from Chemists.

Definitely Revitanail. It worked wonders after taking off acrylic nails years ago.
