I was wondering if anyone had any tips on preventing hair dye staining your skin eg: neck, ears and scalp line or some tips on getting it off once it has stained the skin?.
Last time I dyed my hair I used a combination of baby oil and sorbolene on my scalp line, ears and neck to stop the dye staining but it didn't work.. I had read that nail polish remover will get off dye once it has stained your skin but I didn't find that worker real well either.
I am planning to dye my hair again today so any tips would be appreciated. cheers

I put vaseline around my hairline and ears and this prevents any stains

I find that sorbalene works well for me, globbed on quite thick so the dye doesn't actually come in contact with the skin. And wipe it off once you've bundled your hair up and are leaving it to process. Witch Haxel helps get it off if you do accidently get some on, but I actually find that continually checking the mirror as it's processing and wiping it off as soon as you notice colour is a better plan.

Vaseline around my hairline and ears to prevent staining. Any bits that do get stained i use perfume to remove.

It sounds gross, but cigarette ash mixed with a little water will get the stains right out - you just need to find a smoker - I don't reccomend collecting random cig ash from smokers bins in public places

eeww cigerette ash..hmm my housemate smokes, but I don't know if I'm game to try it. Thanks anyway! Maybe if I get desperate. I have heard of vaseline, maybe give that a try. I was thinking a barrier cream might work too?

Shampoo rubbed on the stains is supposed to get them out, I think whitening toothpaste might work too?

I never put anything on to prevent it, too lazy

but lots of people i know use vaseline.
To get any stains off i use any type of dandruff shampoo, and ive also had a hair dresser use either tea tree or eucolyptus oil. Cant remember which one though sorry

Best thing to use is a little bit of eucalyptus oil on a tissue or cotton bud. That stuff will clean anything.
