Just noticed the boston in target and dont know anything about it except what i read in the book, but it looks good.

anyone done the research on the diffrences yet? is the Boston new or just new to target? is it to replace the Barcelona or an addition?

Im mostly interested in the width diffrence. i have two Barcelona's ATM and was planning on getting a third in 18mths but i didn't think they will all fit accross the back seat.

I love the way the H harness attaches. much easier than the set up i now have and at $179 its looks realy good.

Just looked on the Hipod web site and i dont think the boston is on the site??? I will have to have a closer look in target tomorrow.

Unless they have changed the senator (your confusion after looking at website) then they are two different seats for two different purposes.

Senator is a combined ff car seat (with inbuilt harness) that then converts to a booster seat (to use with h-harness or seatbelt).

Barcelona is a dedicated booster to be used with h-harness or seatbelt.

There is heaps of information on SEnators in many posts below.
The SEnator is a convertible booster which uses an inbuilt 5-pt harness to 18 kg. If you are intending on putting your 2 year old into that would be great. A 2 year old should definately still be in a built in harness. A 2 year old should not be in a Hipod Barcelona with a H-Harness.

It is a very safe seat and the safest option for a toddler/child up to 18 kg.
I have never seen it at $179 so that is very cheap (or a mistake).
mamfa
My 2yr old will be in her current seat for another 18mths(4yr old) as i posted. but im always on the look out for a bargan to put away for that time.

the seat was in the same place as the Barcelona usualy is and the Barcelona was gone. It had that it was 14kg to 26kg and nothing about 8kg. in the photo it was being used with the adult belt and in the book it had the H'harnes being used but not included. It was also refered to as a Booster. so i am realy confused. if it is the seat on the web site then its an excelent price and i will be getting it tommorow and getting rid of the seat she now has. But although it looked similar, the material was very diffrent and im very sure it was a diffrent seat unsure.gif It looked alot skinnier than the Barcelona and im sure that would be the case if it was to suit an 8kg baby upwards.

Hmmm im confused wacko.gif

Was it Orange? Sounds like the NEW Barcelona that takes the H harness as well. Only for those out of 5 point harness 18kgs and up.

I saw it at Target last night. It is booster only. Looks almost the same as the Infa Travale/Vario.
mamfa
thanks 2bundles, im not going crazy then unsure.gif

It was all black.
mamfa
I went back to target today and they have changed the signs.

I also had a better look at the seat and its called 'Boston' its a booster 14-26kg. (i've edited the OP)

Looks like its superseeding the Barcelona. there is also a new convertable too. $200 newborn to 26kg.

cant find any info on it but the box has a sticker that reads "as advertised 14/5/09" so will be in the advert next week.
-Moxie-
I believe the new convertible is called Capri. Retail at $199 on sale from thursday for $179. Similar to the Sienna (I think its called) but has more padding. I think it only goes to 18kg though. If its newborn to 26kg, then that seems a great price.

Link to catalogue: http://target.dynamiccatalogue.com.au/port...=two&gotopage=1

Page 10
Boston is 14kg - 26kg and is on sale for $140.

Capri is birth to 18kg and is on sale for $159.

I think those prices are realy good and i dont think they will have them again any time soon. So im getting the Boston to put away. Hopfully its skinnier than the Barcelona like it looks unsure.gif

If you want 3 across, I would recommend the hiliner. The ones with fixed arm rests are difficult to buckle in with 3 across. Hiliner is also narrower.

ETA - why does my quoting not work properly???

In the latest Pregnancy and Birth magazine they have the new range of Hipod displayed yyes.gif

I am rather surprised to see that the new Senator and Barcelona have sound attached to them ohmy.gif They both look bigger to me too but its hard to tell without seeing them in person unsure.gif

To me it looks like the boston is a more simplier model than the barcelona and as far as I can tell no arm rests wink.gif

I am going to give them a good look over when I next get to Target. Its going to be interesting to see what they are all to be priced at yyes.gif

it has fixed arm rests. so they cant be lifted to do up the belt or taken off altogether.

Im going to bring DS with me and see how he fits into the chair compaied to his barcelona. Just to get an idea on the sizing. Or just bring my tape messure.

Normal prices will be Boston $179 and Capri $199 so this sale will give $40 off both seats for two weeks.

They still havn't updated the Hipod web site.

Is the Hiliner for that price with those fetures?

easiest way to Quote is to type the text or cut and paste then highlight the text, hit the quote icon and it will be all done wink.gif

OMG anyone else have issues with this picture?

a) the child does not look 4 years old+, he BARELY fits in there by height
b) the protecta harness is fit ALL WRONG

Does that not lead parents to believe that is how the seat should be used? rant.gif
Persnickety_
I was thinking the same thing Jackie. Also does in not have a anti sub clip?
ikeaqueen
No anti-sub clip but a 5 year old would fit that much better in one that it wouldn't matter.

I'm so angry with the carseat advertisers there. All the pushing for better seats and they throw a baby in a booster.
mamfa
I think it looks like he is slouching. and with the belt not sitting on his lap it still looks like he is slouching.

I agree though, not good advertising but that photo is not what makes me want that seat.

If you want a seat with anti sub clip then you dont buy this one, simple rolleyes.gif
ikeaqueen
I have no issues with no anti-sub clip. I have issues with people looking in the Target catalogue, seeing that picture and then buying the seat for their toddlers thinking it is the right thing to do.

I have no issues with the actual seat either (although it looks much like the Infa Vario and I'd get that one first for $99 on sale!).

ETA Infa not on sale for that price at the moment but is $114 at babyzonedirect http://www.babyzonedirect.com.au/catalogue/c5/c220/p2223

It is essentially the same as the Infa Travale which is $149, but often on sale at KMart.

The regular Infa does not have seat belt guides and is not the 5 star one from the tests.

Ditto the toddler pic and fit of the harness on the tummy.

The hiliner is more exp, but if you have 3 across you will be glad you paid extra not to have the arm rests.

I thought some of you might like to see the new boosters, here is what was displayed in the magazine;)

Good grief at the target catalogue picture, what on earth is a toddler doing in it oomg.gif
ikeaqueen
See THAT is the age/size of a child that should be displayed in a booster!

But speakers in carseats wacko.gif I thought it was enough with the Platinum from SnS, lets hope this doesn't catch on wwhistle.gif
mamfa
yes those photos are from the box's.

its just the advert that has that toddler wacko.gif

Sound? what the??? sound for what? can you plug in your MP3 player or somthing unsure.gif Ir is it like one of those silly toys that plays anoying music unsure.gif

So they are still having the Barcelona then? by the looks its going to go up in price to make room for the Boston that dosn't have the nice material, adjustable headrest(from what i saw) or movable armrests. Hmm im talking myself out of it now wacko.gif

did they have a web address? thought they might be using a diffrent site for the new ones.

I Dont have a Kmart here so im not familier with that seat. is it only kmart? could i find it in baby shops?
