Hi

We have nearly decided on names for Bub # 2.

If its a girl it is/was going to be Alana Joy but recently read of someone here named Liana. Which do you prefer?

If its a boy it is/was going to be Mitchell James but I am hearing of quite a few Mitchell's in real life and on EB and I am having second thoughts. DS1 was going to be Jordan but my brother says he wants to call his first DS Geordie. My brother is only 23, engaged but not likely to have kids for a while. Do you prefer Mitchell James or Jordan Thomas?

Thanks in advance for your honest opinions.

I prefer Alana Joy. In saying that Liana is a pretty name but I just like Alana better biggrin.gif

Definitely Mitchell James. Jordan is NMS at all.

Good luck!

I prefer Mitchell to Jordon, and Liana to Alana.
Have you thought about nicknames and which nn you'd prefer? I like the nn Lani the best, which could suit both full names but probably Alana more. And I really only like Mitchell for the nn Mitch.
No-one special
I Like Alana Joy over Liana. Liana is more uncommon than Alana though so it has that on the plus side.

I defintely prefer Mitchell James, Jordan is NMS at all.

Thanks ladies

NN's would be Mitch or Jordy, Lani or Ally

Liana and Alana are both nice but I slightly prefer Alana. From your boy's names, I definitely prefer Mitchell, however, I would prefer Mitchell Thomas as the combo.
Stanzy
Definitely Alana and Mitchell

Hi there,

Alana and Liana are both lovely, and so hard to choose which I prefer. I think I like Liana just a tiny bit more though.

Re the Mitchell V Jordan one, I prefer Jordan, BUT, if your brother has already expressed he wants to use something very similar, I would take that into consideration, regardless of whether or not he is 23 and not married. If he has that name earmarked, personally I wouldn't go near it. That is just me though.

I love both your girls names and they NN's too, simply Gorgeous! tthumbs.gif

I love both Mitchell and Jordan for boys too, a friend of mine has a Jordan and he is the most adorable Kid he is 9.

Sorry for sticking my two cents in here, but if you like Jordan, seriously use it. You can't overlook a name that you love becuase your brother may have a son one day and he wants to call him Geordie. You are pregnant now & you never ever know, your brother could have 4 girls and no son in site and you have missed your opportunity to name you son what you want on a maybe. He may also simply change his mind if he has a son. So my point is Name your child who really does exsist what you want. (sorry again for the 2 cents)

Good Luck!! XOX

I prefer Alana. I'd go for Jordan.

I'd go Alana (but look at other spellings - I do think Alarna/Alanah?) - I like 'Larni' or 'Ally' is a NN. too.
Mitchell Thomas is a GREAT name! - I'd definitely go with Mitchell. Also, Mitch is a cool nn.
Jordan is NMS - reminds me of 'Michael Jordan'. As your brother really likes it i'd let him have it.
Unless you really LOVE Jordan over Mitchell and have ALWAYS wanted and can't stand any other name, then I'd go with Jordan - but if you really LOVE Mitchell just as much as you LOVE Jordan - then go with Mitchell.
Does that make sense?
: )

Love Liana. I first heard this name in Geography class learning about tropical rainforests. Lianas are creeping plants that use other plants to grow up to the canopy for sunlight.

From a website:
QUOTE
"Lianas are a huge problem for rainforest trees, and numerous species have developed means of discouraging their growth. Many palm and tree ferns regularly drop fronds, while other trees may lose limbs to rid themselves of lianas."

Just thought you should know. Personally it doesn't change anything for me, still love the name, makes it a little dangerous. Alana is nice also but Liana just that little more different.
!!!
I like Liana but don't hate Alana.

Jordan is awful, I'd let your brother have it. Not fond of Mitchell either but 10 times better than Jordan
