I woke at 4am (Brissy time) with wet knickers, no gush but definitely wet, definitely not urine (no real smell) and when I went to the loo I wiped some traces of red blood. Since then have had blood traces and ongoing period type pain/back pain. It hasnt developed further yet. But do I call the hospital (says you should call when waters break but Im not sure if they have and dont want to waste their time??!!)

Anna,
Could this be it???????? Stick a pad on and give them a call anyway. I', not sure what they will say, they might say come in for a check, or just sit tight. The blood is a good thing, sounds like your on your way anyway. Let us know what is happening. 'POP?'
Cheers Helen

Wooooo Hi Helen
I didnt expect such a speedy answer and from a fellow MM. I feel a little silly as its not much at all and might be wishful thinking?? Read in PG for Dummies that early labour can be more crampy period-like, still havent had a gush but some I know have said they didnt have a gush even when the Doc broke their membranes?? Dont want to cry wolf...

Anna,
with my first DD I just had a slow leak, they called it a hind leak. I rang them and they told me to go in and gt checked. I went in and they kept me there. I did end up getting induced a day later (she was 17 days late)at that point, but I was failing to dilate and desperate to get it over and done with. The blood that you are having, means tho, that your cervix is dilating, so thats all a good thing. With my second DD my waters broke well into labour with an almighty pop in the middle of a contraction and it was like someone had just thrown a bucket of water accross the room. Who Knows..... evryone and every labour is different. keep us posted tho'
Cheers Helen

So, what did you do? Did you ring the hospital? what did they say?

Good luck!!!!

I am the same as you - scared to cry wolf - but the hospital tells me that they have some girls ringing from week 10 of their pregnancies all the time - so to be overdue and to call with a legite reason - I think they would be more than happy to talk to you!!! Do it girl. Go March Mummies! (I'm an April mum and have been reading your posts occassionally).

Hi,

My waters broke really slowly overtime too, but I had a gush like you did, definitely not urine, about 2 weeks before I actually went into labour! Still, you should definitely get anything you are concerned about checked - I'd rather "waste" the doctor or midwife's time then endager my baby.

Good luck.

Oh Anna - I am so happy for you. Have seen how much you have been wanting to meet Jack and upset about the overdue bit.

Wooo hoooo goooo Anna & Jack!

The period type pain is most certainly some kind of contraction, if you go to the hospital and they put the monitor on you, you can get a good idea of what the contractions measure. Really interesting :-)

Congrats, sending you huge labour vibes :-)
