Does anyone know when these start?

I've seen a few ads for them on the ABC, but it didn't specify a date.

Thanks in advance. original.gif

Lara 6th Septemnber. I was looking at the ABC website yesterday. Will find it again...

We can't wait for them to start! I only wish we had ABC2 because that station shows the whole paras not just the highlights.

I always get so frustrated in the lead up to the paralympics with the lack of coverage by major commercial networks.

Crikey - it gets my goat! rant.gif

Will be ABC2 all the way in my house, now that we get it as of last week.

It really bugs me too! The other tv channels haven't shut up about the olympics, and they're over! I've heard nothing about the paralympics.
I was talking to some equestrian officials that will be heading off to Hong Kong (where the olympic equestrian is being held) and they are very excited! I would be too! grin.gif

Argh! Our ABC2 keeps losing signal cry1.gif . I really love a good game of wheelchair basketball.

You could buy a cheap SD set top box for about $50 if you don't care about getting the HD channels. ABC2 is a very good channel.

Yep, that's what we have...just a cheapo set top box and it picks up ABC2 perfectly...gets a second SBS channel as well!

I am really looking forward to the paralympic coverage!

I refer watching the paraolympics to the real ones wub.gif Sucha massive achievement

Thanks ~44me~ for answering my question. Sorry I didn't get back in here to thank you sooner. original.gif

A student from my son's school is competing in the swimming, so we are keen to watch it.

Thanks, I was trying to find out what station they were on, bit disgusted at the lack of recognition these guys get.

Thank you for the info! I was wondering as well.

I much prefer to watch the paralympics as well but they do need more coverage and recognition, a lot more.
Thanks for the info.

Maybe some harrassment of the mainstream media is in order to let them know that people do want more coverage. I alread flicked off an email a week or so ago to Hamish and Andy who actually broadcast from Beiging to see if they will be giving any coverage of the paralympics and how I felt that the athletes were just as if not more deserving of the acknowledgement and recognition for the efforts. I actually used to work for a guy who competed in, I think 2 paralympics (basketball & rugby I think it was) and I have also been following Michael Miltons journey for the last 12 months or so (as he battled cancer, had major surgery as well as chemo and radiation therapy AND still qualified for his 5th paralympics) which I have to say has been nothing short of inspirational! http://www.michaelmilton.com/Home.aspx

I cannot believe that no one seems to care about the Paralympics sad.gif

Not just the media but also the public in general, very sad that these amazing athletes are so badly disrespected by the world!

I am going to go and buy a set top box so I can at least watch a bit of it.

ABC1's coverage is just disgraceful - there is sh*t all on that channel for most of the day anyway and they cant even drop a 1935 movie to show the Paralympics late at night! mad.gif

I have to agree with all the comments so far - its so disapointing! For 7 our of the 10 week school term all my son was learning about was the 'Olympics'. Then i started getting excited about the paralympics and telling him about the highlight show that he could watch each night and he looked at me stupid that there was more competition in Beijing. The school system should be teaching about these games as well.

Im also disappointed that there is not better tv coverage.

Plus thought the team uniform looked much smarter than the 'olympic uniform'.
MichP
kateandco make a point of mentioning it to the teacher, I have.

Its digusting and hurtful I have an SN child who already misses out on so much and I cant even show her these marvellous ppl like her who are doing the same as her 'normal'cousin who competed in the olympics!
On the upside her school is really good they didn't do much for the olympics but heaps for the para games inc comp day where some of the para team came and visited and helped the 'normal' kids compete in wheelchair basketball and blind races.

My definition of normal - a cycle on a washing machine biggrin.gif
