Just being quick before I organise dinner...
Anyone got some home/natural/cheap (any of the options!)pimple remedies??? The term pizza face accurately described me during DS' pg and it seems this one is going to follow suit. I woke this morning with SIX blind pimples. They are really painful and all mostly around the jaw/mouth area.
In my younger days, I would put toothpaste on them, but it doesn't really do much - for me!
Anyway, last time I didn't mind too much, but not exactly what I want at my wedding in under 4 weeks time!
So any tips?

I get them pg or not and def worse with DD #1. The only real tip I have is use a gentle soap free wash like QV or Alpha Keri and an oil free moisturiser and the most important thing. Dont touch! (I am still getting the hang of this) My skin looked great on my wedding day because for the month before I did regular mud masks and didnt pick or squeeze a single thing even though skin was really blocked and felt bumpy.

I am prone to breakout normally, so this pregnancy has turned me into a pizza face. They are the big hormonal ones that HURT as well. The best thing without a doubt is cetaphil gentle cleanser and then oil free moisturiser. Give it a week or two and you'll really see a difference. My skin is now the clearest it has been in months!

Try Benzac cream from the chemist - it works a treat and dries up those odd breakouts!

I don't know if they're safe for pregnancy, but AHA lotions are FAB for clearing up acne.
I use Avene products, they are all based on water from the thermal springs at Avene, France. They are very lovely and all natural so they don't clog pores anymore while they're ridding the current blockages!

Benzac is wonderful but it is listed as Level C for pregnancy so if you want to use it speak with your doctor first. It is unknown if it causes harm or not so my doctor said it is best to avoid using.
And yes, you can get cetaphil at the chemist and at priceline. Its really cheap - 500ml bottle for $13 which lasts ages. It doesn't lather so it takes getting used to, and you may wish to use something stronger for removing make up (I love neutrogena acne wash for make up removal face washing), but cetaphil is the only thing to ever work for me without overly drying my skin or irritating it.

I really feel your frustration! I too developed horrid skin during this pregnancy and was at my wits end after trying EVERYTHING (including most of the above mentioned brands!), when a friend recommended Lancome Comforting Skin Cleansing Milk. Now I swear by it! It has cleared my skin and kept it clear. It isn't overly cheap but the good news is that you only need the tiniest bit so the bottle lasts forever. I now also use Lancome's other products including toner and moisturiser and find it a fab combo that keeps my skin feeling fantastic. Very soft, not at all dry and PIMPLE FREE!
I would recommend it! Its good to remember though that what works for one wont necessarily work for another but its worth giving things a go. I hope you find something that works for you.

If you have tea-tree oil, put some on a cotton ball and stick it (using a band-aid) over the blind ones... they come down within an hour or so... and wont be as painful...

Wow I did not know that! I guess that would also include Proactive as it has the same active ingredients? Thanks for that information swarley!

ella30 the information on benzoyl peroxide is a bit iffy - some places say its fine, others say no don't use as its not known the effects.
So if in doubt best to check with your doc just to be sure. Mine said to avoid if possible, but if absolutely necessary use in moderation

I honestly had the WORST acne when I was pregnant and even now 6 months after giving birth I'm still suffering with breakouts

Before I fell pregnant I had lovely skin and rarely ever had a pimple so when my face just exploded in pimples and especially the blind pimples during my pregnancy I was so upset.
Personally for me I found the best treatment was to wash my face only in water and use toner a couple of times a day. When I used a face wash and moisturiser it made my skin so much worse, even if the face wash was specifically designed for acne it inflamed it even more.
The best my skin has ever looked was 3 days after giving birth. It looked amazing and now it is terrible again

I'm hoping things improve when I stop breastfeeding

I am not sure - but can you use Witch's Hazel?? That's supposed to be good...
The problem is that the acne is hormonal, so there's really nothing that you can do to prevent it
