What's your favourite filling/bread to use?
I'm going to pull it out for winter!
Thanks!

My BIL puts short or puff pastry onto it, fills with pasta sauce, cheese, olives, ham (anything really) and rolls it up and toasts it! Comes out like a flat closed over pizza! Yummo

Wow Girolama that sounds like the go, will have to try it. Do you needs to put butter or anything on the pastry to stop it from sticking???
I always liked Chicken, Cheese and Mayo on my toasted sanga.

Or try some toasted wraps in the press! Yum
If you add the right fillings on lebanese bread you can make your own kebabs at home too.

Tuna and cheese. Pretty boring. But DH puts a sprig of parsley on it for garnish

. Does that count as exciting?

On panini or sub rolls:
Ham, Provolone, tomato
Chicken schnitzel, mayo, cheese, tomato (add lettuce or rocket when it is out)
Eggplant (cooked/fried) and provolone
Bocconcini, pesto, tomato
These are the main ones at my italian deli but I recreate them at home!

You don't need butter. I don't even use it in teh Breville sandwich press (you know the one that puts a pretty pattern on your bread!
I have made baked beans one before too! Yummo!

I use mine for absolutly everything. I fry bacon in it to add to salads or for steak burgers etc. Also I crack an egg onto it and put some cheese on top of the egg and then egg flip it off straight into the burger.
I mix some butter and minced garlic and paste it onto brumbys bread for a quick garlic bread.
Toast turkish bread pieces to have with soups etc
Quick Omeletes, pancakes etc.

Help I tried to make this today and it didn't turn out. The pastry was cooked on the top and bottom but still raw on the sides??? What did I do wrong? It is in the oven at the moment trying to salvage it.

I make Quesadilla in mine, mostly using a recipe from the CSR web site called "Cheesy Avocado Quesadillas". I also add refried beans to mine. They are also yummy cold the next day. I make up a big batch, we have them for dinner and DH takes leftovers.

I will definitely be saving this to my favourites.
Some of these recipes sure beat the good ole toasted cheese & tomato!

melmeko, just an idea, did you wait until griller was hot before putting in pastry?
I saw that on Ready Steady Cook, for flakier pastry, Janelle (blonde cook) said put the empty oven tray into the hot oven before placing the pastry on it, puffs it up for cooking, and make sure your pastry is properly thawed before using.
Leb bread with cheese, avocado, beetroot relish & grated carrot.
Nothing wrong with Tuna and cheese, well not until all 3 dd's discovered they liked it too! How come when you feed kids new food, they don't like it but it tastes better when taking mum's lunch away?? I like to split the bread into 2 circles, makes for thin and crispy kind of rollups.
Cheese and Marmite
Baked Beans
Spaghetti
Chick scnitzel, cheese, avocado & sweet chilli sauce
Left of Bolognaise with grated cheese and sour cream (DH is converted to these)
We keep 1 packet of Leb bread in the freezer, nuke in microwave for 1 min to thaw, then make cheesy grills.

No the press was preheated. Mabey I rolled them with too much filling, or my puff pastry was in the freezer for too long. Must be some explanation for my disasterous attempt, LOL!!!

As mentioned previously, my favourites also include combinations of chicken, cheese, pesto, ham and sun dried tomatoes or sun dried capsicum (both chopped up in small pieces). Usually just on white bread unless I buy some turkish or foccacia especially for it. Yummo!

chargrilled eggplant, capsicum, zucchini, baby spinach, sundried tom, pesto and swiss cheese.

I have a few Snadwiches on the press...
Chicken and corn Jaffle
200g BBQ chick pulled apart and chopped
315g creamed corn
1/2c greated low fat cheese
salt & pepper to taste
Mix it all together, and sandwich between to pieces of bread in the normal way. The filing does become VERY hot, so watch the little ones....
Chicken with Cranberry & Camembert
1/4 c cranberry sauce
4 chopped spring onion
salt Pepper
thinly slice chicken roll/breast (from the deli)
tinly sliced camembert
Pile everything on the bread (this tastes even better on turkish) and heat until warm and cheese is melted..
I usually make up enough of the mixes and put them in the fridge for a few days, saves having to make them every time, especially during the winter months.

I love quesadilla with ham, basil leaves and sweet chilli sauce.
I also love felafel rolled up in flat bread, with cheese, tabouleh, and either sweet chilli or bbq sauce.
Roast beef, swiss cheese, onion and smoky bbq sauce is good too.

Maybe just for the adults, Onion & Cheese!

Had it for lunch today, just dice up onion really fine and mix with grated cheese and a teaspoon of sugar to take the bitterness out of onion
