I cannot believe I am posting a topic called "pumpkin festival"! wacko.gif

Just wondering if the Collector Pumpkin Festival is an annual thing, and if anyone has been before?

http://www.pumpkinfestival.com.au/festival.htm

I thought it might be a fun thing to do with the kids tomorrow, given that I should go to Gunning to check on the state of the block of land I have there (grrr - when will the people it is "under offer" with finally BUY it???)

I haven't been but I got an email from a friend telling me about it. I will paste some useful info.. standby.

====

There are foodie stalls and coffee and there is a tent for the kids to go and buy popcorn and stuff, LOTS OF PUMPKINS, music and a cafe and craft.

It starts at 10am but I'd advise to get there early as a lot of people come from Canberra and parking can be a problem (and a very long walk).

It is $5 entry per car load of people and you have to park in a paddock and walk up to it (very country). There will also be lots of dogs and kiddies (it seems to be a big outing for everybody).

If you're inclined you can dress your child up as a scarecrow or a pumpkin.

Enjoy!

Can I just add --- I'm sorry, Jo. But your kids shouldn't be that old yet!!! ohmy.gif

LOL - tell me about it. I look at them and wonder where my babies have gone. They are so OLD now. The worst part of that is that sometimes I feel that they act more grown-up than I do ("not hard" I hear you all cry!) and that Matthew in particular is very clever with words and can corner me, if not outsmart me, in many "discussions" huh.gif

I think the Apple Festival is on at Tallong tomorrow too.

Pumpkin soup and apple pie anyone?

even funnier is that it's the collector pumpkin festival, i thought maybe there were people out there into collecting pumpkins laugh.gif

We went a few years ago. It was only the second or third year it was on, and I think they were a little overwhelmed by the number of people who attended. We went in the afternoon, and they had sold out of pumpkin soup, pumpkin scones etc. But we had some lovely food from Poachers Pantry and sat at the tables enjoying the sunshine. And it was a lovely afternoon original.gif

It's kind of like a school fete really - food, craft, face painting, a band playing, a dislay of scarecrows, petting zoo etc. And lots of big pumpkins.

Tragic, huh? blush.gif

Jo - thank you for providing our Sat night entertainment laughing2.gif . I've just read most of that sight to DH. Don't think I talked him into going though wacko.gif . Actually I think it sounds like fun ph34r.gif , and it might even make my boys interested in trying pumpkin for the first time since they were babies ohmy.gif .
