We are expecting a girl. We love names that start with "M".
Here is our list
Mia wub.gif
Madeleine
Madison
Molly

Is Mia too common these days? WDYT?
fifi-trixibelle
Yes, I think Mia is fairly common but so are Madeleine and Madison.

I like Mia but I really love Madeleine from your list.

I love all those except Madison which I still like. Mia is quite popular but not a top ten in most states.
metropolis
Go with Madeleine, especially spelt that way. It's streets ahead of your other choices.

Yes, Mia is very common where I live.

Madeleine is gorgeous but I'm yet to hear of one that isn't called Maddy, a nickname I dislike intensely. It's like the child is being called mad/crazy in my mind!

I wub.gif Mia but that is cos my DD is Mia.
I have worked in Child Care for 10 years and only come across one other Mia though. It is relatively popular though as I often see Mia's written somewhere or another but who cares? If you like the name that's all that matters.
There were about 7 Kristy's in my grade at school and now I don't know one.

I like Madeleine from your list, although any of the names you have would be lovely. I haven't come across any Mia's amongst my groups, although I have heard it is becoming quite popular??

Mia is very popular - it was in the 2007 top 10 female names in NSW (I'd imagine that this would be the case in all states). Check out NSW Baby Names.

From your list I like Madeleine.

I like Maya! One of our favourites! wub.gif

My best friends DD is named Mia and we call her TCM (Tropical Cyclone Mia). No need for an explanation there I guess. blush.gif

IMO, Mia is common. But I love the name Maddison. One of my god-daughters is named Maddison. She doesn't get it shortened to 'Maddi' either.

I also love 'Morgan' for a girls name. wub.gif

Good luck.

Mia is very common now, as is Maddison. Madeleine is beautiful and I love Molly, I wanted that one but my partner doesn't like it unfortunately.

Thanks for the replies girls. Looks like Madeleine is a favourite original.gif

We do wub.gif Mia but I don't want it to be so popular that it becomes meaningless, IYKWIM. Checked the pinned thread on the top names for 2007 and it is very popular.

As a teacher I often see quite a few kids with the same name in the one class. This year I have a Yr 12 class (17-18 year olds) of 24 students, 11 of them are girls and 5 of them are called Jessica huh.gif

Thanks for the feedback.

Maddison of course tongue.gif

I think Mia is lovely, it is popular though, so if that bothers you, maybe not.

Love Mia, Molly and Madeleine are my favs! Maddison is not as classical as the others original.gif

I have 2 kids with names in the top 10 - didn't know about it until I came on here.

I have a Mia (nearly 2) and to date we have not come across another at creche, playground, mother's group or gymbaroo. Same with my son - he has a top 10 name and is nearly 5 and has never been in a group with another.

Mia was a fave with me but we had a boy. So definately love Mia.
Also Maya and Maia(looked after an adorable little Maia wub.gif )
willandash
I love the name Mia
