Hello, I know quite a few chemists do compounding but was after one that's a little more helpful than the usual, say bigger chemists IYKWIM?

DS (2 years) has to take quite a few supplements x 3 lots a day (not prescription) and has been pretty good taking them up until a few days ago and now he's started to jack up about it - fair enough too. I thought some of them could be compounded into a liquid form so all we'd have to do is quickly squirt gob like you would panadol etc.

TIA original.gif

FYI A compounding chemist is a pharmacist who prepares medication into different dosage forms (capsuels, creams etc) and can contain more than one medication.

Pretty sure that the Discount Pharmacy at Macquarie is a compounding pharmacy.

Maybe give them a call and check.

HTH's.

I use Capital Chemist in Curtin. The pharmacist is the most helpful, friendly and professional one I have ever met. As ds' dose increases he changes the concentration so I do not have to give him anymore (which is great as he hates it too).

Thanks Karen, that's the sort of chemist I'm after original.gif

How do you give your ds' medication, dropper/syringe?

I use one of the medicine bottles with teats, when he is due for a feed. A few sucks of what he thinks is milk and its all gone - evil mummy original.gif

For older children I'd use a spoon.

dd had loads of meds daily and I always used syringes, but she was happy to take it. In fact when she was 18 months old and no longer had two syringes before each meal she go very confused and did not really know what to do.

Ainslie chemist now does this.....as a general rule they are really helpful but haven`t used the compounding service yet.

My sister works for a big compounding chemist in Sydney (Richard Stenlake Compounding Chemist in Bondi for the record), and she has often said they can put kids medications into just about anything.

Quite often they make up batches of "lollypops" with different kids medications in them along with jelly lollies of various flavours.

A good compounding chemist should be able to do this for you, and I believe Bluebell Pharmacy (think that's what it's called - they advertise on TV) does offer flavour varieties.

Hope this info helps
