Hello,

DH and I are only 'thinking' about TTC again, but I have read the name Aurora a few times on EB and was just curious as to how your pronounce the name.

Both of my girls names ends in 'a' Liana and Isabella, so if we decided to TTC again and had another girl, I would like to keep the same theme of girls names ending in 'a'.

Thanks
Jodie

I pronounce it as A-roar-rah. I love it too.

As PP said.

A-ROAR-RAH
Noddles
I pronounce it the same way as PP's.

I do love the name dearly and thought it was definately a frontrunner for our impending arrival, should we have a girl, however DH was firmly against it. He eventually revealed that it is a porn stars name and he just can't get over the association ohmy.gif ! I'm just so gutted I can't use it sad.gif !

ET clarify - I'm gutted that DH wont agree to it, wouldn't bother me that somewhere out there there is a porn star called Aurora, big deal!

You can also say it Or-Roar-Rah (like aura).

It means dawn; Aurora was the Roman Goddess of Sunrise, which is very pretty, I think...

Noddles laughing2.gif I still think its pretty!
LittleDCJ
I think it is such a pretty name both in it's sounding and spelling. Although I really detest Rory as a nn, esp for a girl.

That's the way I thought you pronounce it, but like most names I guess you can say it a few different ways.

I think you will find that porn stars go by lots of different names laugh.gif My DH is the same though in regards to associating a name to someone. I also like the name Emma, but DH had an old girlfriend called Emma, so although he like the name, he would never use it wacko.gif

'Or-Roar-Rah' we say this way as well. Its a pretty name but I prefer Elora wub.gif

Yes, same as pps "or-roar-ah". Aurora is gorgeous! One of my all time favs and another that DH wouldn't touch. sad.gif There was a little cutie in Woolies the other day and her Mum called her Aurora, sounds great in use! Love it! Good luck choosing!

Being German I would pronounce it either Ow-roh-rah (german phonetic)or Oh-roh-rah - the latter is more anglicised (sp?)
