well it has been a while since i have been here a but busy latley.

well my update on my DD got her weighed yesyerday at 10month i was hoping that she woulld be around the 9kg mark she is a very little girl and my expectation were a little high her stats came in as follows-

weight-7.8kgs
height-68cm
H/C-43cms

so she has droped on the chart but i did not get the third degree that i got at the 6 months check i have to take her back in 1 month so they can monitor her a bit closer because she is on the 10% line and they are scared that she will go under it and that is what they dont want.
but they basically said that she will only eat what she wants and aslong as there is food there she wont starve. YEH what a relif last time i went they were all like feed her more offer her more solids but all was good.

well i hope that everyone eleses bubs are all thriving and if i dont get a chance to get back on i hope all the best to all through the christmas seasion.

Hi Sharon

Gald to hear you didn't get the third degree this time! Sometimes I feel they put way too much emaphasis on those charts. Just to let you know, my 5 year old neice is and always has been on or below the 10% line and is a perfectly happy healthy robust active child. I think as long as Rachel is putting on weight, is eating, sleeping and doing all the things a baby should, she'll be fine! Someone has to be a the small end of the scale!

Hi Sharon,

just to let you know, my DD is down below the 10% line and has been since she was about 6 months old - which is when she started getting active. She started off on the 50% line, but as she started moving around a lot more, she isn't putting on the weight like she used to.

My DD wouldn't have a bar of solids until she was 12 months old. It was quite stressfull and I'd worry a lot that she wasn't eating properly, and I continually got told by the nurses at around 10 months to cut down the number of b/fs and up her solid intake - but I had no problems with the amount I was feeding her (around 5-7 times a day/night) and she prefered that over solids. In fact she just wouldn't eat most solids. At 18 months my DD was 9.8 kgs (they do slow down growing a lot as they get older as well), and she is quite low on the chart still.

As Kylie said, I too think they put too much emphasis on the charts.

take care,

Laura

Yep I will 'third' that, way too much emphasis on the chart. I understand that if a baby is way down the bottom then yes sure they may need to ask a few more questions but as Kylie said if they are happy, weeing, pooing etc then they should just leave it alone!!

My bubs where born at 9lb 7oz and 11lb 2oz so where always close to the top and for miss goo she was completly off. Obviously the couldn't tell me that they where too small then wink.gif

Interestingly though when my son hit about a year old one of the MACH nurses informed me that his weight was fine but he was too short!!! In my opinion what an incredibly stupid thing to say, what was I mean't to do take him out and stretch him?? Dh and I aren't very tall either and I think that plays a big part in it all. Didn't stop me feeling worried for a little while after it was said though until I realised that she was being totally silly with her comment original.gif

She sounds like she is doing fine original.gif

Hi There!

Well my DD, Sophie is much the same! At 9.5 months she weighed in at 8.5kgs, 68cms and 43.5cm HC. But she never stops moving!! We were told not to worry about her weight (she's about 40th percentile for weight but 10th for length) as she eats well and is basically so busy she is just burning it off!

I'm glad the didn't give you a hard time. If she's happy and healthy that's all that matters.

Yup, I'll 5th (or 6th) that! Ayden is off the charts for height and well below the 50th for weight. Right up until this month he was below the 10th and at one point not even registering on the charts for weight. I mean I have had some other issues going on which have affected that, but even now with him on solids my GP has told me that he is just a long and lean baby! Which lucky him he didn't get my metabolism original.gif
