OK, all, have been thinking about this again... trying to find time to think straight and make some phone calls. And Brazen is right (as always!

... see 2nd post) and I am choosing this:
DinnerHow about
Antigo in the City (London Circuit)?
I like the idea of their banquet menu (6 courses $30, food in middle, people help themselves):
http://www.outincanberra.com.au/antigohttp://www.outincanberra.com.au/files/clie...quet_dinner.pdfThey do say 'Pre-order and Pre-pay' on banquets, but am negotiating on that, dep. on response from you all. Antigo is BYO wine only with $7.90 corkage per bottle. They do have cocktails at $9. They have vegetarian meals too, but not sure about vegetarian options for a banquet?
DrinksThe Labour Club does have a happy hour with $6 cocktails, but it's 9pm til midnight!!!
http://www.laborclub.com.au/CityCanberraCity/Facilities.aspxThere may be other places nearby suitable to meet for a drink first, but on Sat night, probably not having happy hours... maybe just meet at the restaurant early, for anyone wanting to have a drink at their bar!
DateLet's have a list, for Sat nights in June please:
Dixiebelle - any Sat night in June

dixie, you should just choose what YOU want and go with it - adjust if needed! if you didn't get an answer out of the other thread you won't get any closer with another lOL
anyway, if you do a june a'noon tea the hyatt i'll be a definite maybe, pending on me actually saving up the $$
for anything else i'm a maybe maybe
i'd definitely do yum cha but am not sure there's anywhere great in canberra (so i've heard, however i've never actually been) wouldn't mind doing this one as a family if anyone else is interested in that idea?
dixiebelle
29/04/2008, 10:35 AM
(See first post...

)
Oh, and someone else might want to organise an afternoon tea (at the Hyatt) for another time??
And if no one wants to come to dinner with me or where I've chosen, I will happily hand the organising over!!!

Oh, der, I knew there was a long weekend in June, i even asked the restaurant if there were any weekends they'd be really busy! Yes, you're right, Lara, long weekend in June is probably out!
Dixiebelle - any Sat night in June

I think the Long Weekedn would be out for most, even if not going away... I guess it doesn't faze me really!
So, probably looking at Sat 14th June, Sat 21st June or Sat 28th June??
brazen
29/04/2008, 12:45 PM
yeah, we have no plans for the LWE! too cold to camp and i can't be bothered with a trip to the IL's

Sounds good, but I am guessing I won't be able to make it that soon... Next one I hope...
dixiebelle
29/04/2008, 03:28 PM
Getting close now, Em! Good luck... I am thinking someone else should organise a 'Christmas in July' family event (roast buffet/ spit roast?), as the get together after this... so you can come & show off your newborn!!
trebambinibelli
29/04/2008, 03:46 PM
I'd definitely be interested, any Saturday would be fine at this stage... however I think the buffet would be out for me (allergic to chilli, almost everything on the menu seems to have it in some form

) but I assume I could still order a la carte?
dixiebelle
29/04/2008, 03:51 PM
That's no good Trixmama, but yes, I am presuming you can still order from the regular menu, and same for non-meat eaters or anyone else who can't eat from the banquet thing... (will def. find out on that one) & also, their website claims some gluten free options too! Plus the manager said that the banquet is very filling... no one should feel hungry at the end (though I still think the dessert option would be good!!)

Hi there - I'd like to come. Any Saturday night in June is ok for me.
Cheers,
darnie
29/04/2008, 05:11 PM
I would have loved to come along to this one but might have to give it a miss since I will probably be giving birth.
I'm being induced early, but don't know when yet.
I hope you all have a great time. I haven't been to Antigos for a couple of years, but I used to really enjoy it.
Cheers,
Deanne.

I

Antigo's!! It is one of my fav places!! (And yeah to the decision Dixie

) The banquets are lovely and filling. We have been in biggish groups and haven't had to pre order or pay. And ordering seperately should be fine i think.
Anyway I am definite and it looks like any date in June should be fine for me.
dixiebelle
29/04/2008, 07:44 PM
Darnie, what sort of excuse is that??

All you with due dates in June are forgiven for not coming, but like I said, a July event to show off new babies will be in order!
QUOTE
(And yeah to the decision Dixie )
I thought Brazen was going to send me to detention if I didn't!! The manager said pre-order and pre-pay was for larger groups, and if we only have 15 to 20, they would only book it as normal anyways (they are used to big groups)... a few less or more isn't a problem!
OK, seen as you ACT EBers have no idea how to copy/ paste and highlight!

Dixie - I would be happy with the 14th or the 21st. We could celebrate my birthday and Susana's on the 21st.

It is kind of in the middle of both of them.

It's still 6 or 7 weeks away til the Get Together, so in a couple of weeks I will put it out there again, for the 14th or 21st of June, to see if there is any majority on one of those, and set the date... if anyone feels like they have a suggestion and want to be involved in organising this, please let me know! I am not the dictator for this Get Together, I am just trying to organise it with as less stress on myself as possible!

i wonder if antigos cater for dairy intolerances? hmmm
dixiebelle
07/05/2008, 01:18 PM
I will give them a call and ask about vegetarian options on the banquet menu, and dairy alternatives too... dep. on no's, the banquet may not work out anyways, and we can order off the menu, which seemed quite extensive...

Karen - I didn't know you had a dairy intolerance, can you have soy products?
maltesers
07/05/2008, 04:04 PM
Dixie - the menu looks good to me, there's vegetarian dishes and I also eat seafood so all good with me. There's potato rosti's for Lara who I know likes her 'taters. Not sure about soy for Karen though

- I think Mediterranean type food is more so the in thing at the moment so hopefully she can still find something for her intolerance.

I think I'll change to a def. What a good way to celebrate some birthdays. Except mine's the 20th Lara, you've done well to remember that date after all these years
Lucky for me I like dairy, but I do seem to have a soft spot for soy products as well. Karen: soy stuff isn't that bad really.
K&L: want to go together?
brazen
07/05/2008, 09:55 PM
actually soy milk isn't that great either, i try to avoid too many soy products cause there's talk about hormones and all that sort of thing. dh keeps buying soy milk for rora but i'd rather have her on rice milk. anyway... back to the dinner

People wanting vegetarian meals, or who have allergies/ intolerances, can order from the menu (or call and arrange their requirements beforehand), but I need no's for the banquet order (it's $30 for 6 courses), so please note that on the list (thanks
