Im so angry, I am sick again in a matter of a couple of weeks!

I am feeling so crappy I just wanted to warn people not to go outside at night even for a couple of minutes without a big warm coat on - because that is how i caught my chill and am now I am suffering big time with shivers, sore throat, aching muscles and stiff neck and have 2 toddlers to look after tomorrow and of course no one is able to help me!

Sorry just needed to vent, I know this happens to people every day but I brought it on myself!

I am the same sore throat, aching all over. I seem to be getting it a lot lately. Kids have been the same.

Have to go to work as boss is a complete jerk & will not appreciate if I have more time off.

hope you're feeling better soon!

i have only just got my normal voice back after 2-3 weeks of having a husky voice (but not really any other symptoms)

So sorry you are sick.

You can't catch a cold by going outside insufficently clothed - you caught it from another infected person.

From Wikipedia

QUOTE
Although common colds are seasonal, with more occurring during winter, experiments so far have failed to produce evidence that short-term exposure to cold weather or direct chilling increases susceptibility to infection, implying that the seasonal variation is instead due to a change in behaviors such as increased time spent indoors at close proximity to others

Steph - thanks for you words of wisdom. blink.gif blink.gif

Charlotte - sorry to hear you are sick. I think it is just this time of year. Everybody is sick at the moment. I hope you feel better soon.

I am sick. My DD is sick. My DS is sick. (And I think DH isn't feeling great either, but being stoic about it!) I am preparing myself for this chronic cold business to possibly last all winter, going from one thing to the next! Hopefully not, but with us adjusting to the air and weather in Canberra, and DD in daycare, guess we better stock up on lozenges and panadol! Actually, maybe a daily natural immunity booster might be an idea... once you've had a cold/ flu, and your system is run down, that's when you tend to get everything going around! Hope you can kick this one quickly and feel better soon... there are alot worse situations to be in healthwise (not that you can't feel sorry for yourself,e sp. with 2 toddlers to take care of when you have the flu) but look after yourself... take some pain relief/ flu medication so you can soldier on, and plan for a 'quiet day' with DVD's and lots of tea breaks for you! Good luck...

I too have read in a health magazine, that getting cold won't give you a cold, but there are more colds etc in colder weather because the viruses survive longer and thrive outside the body when it is colder, so germs are more proflific.

It's horrible isn't it...I'm staying home from work today. Achy muscles and sore throats are awful!

Hope you start feeling better soon original.gif

Thanks guys for your replies. I must have got it from someone else then.

Just want to say that I share your angst, my DD went into childcare 8 weeks ago when I went back to work and ever since at least 1 family member has been sick (either DD, 2 x DS, DH or myself.) I work 3 days per week and I think I've managed about 3 full weeks all up. I'm well and truly over the whole sickness thing and am getting to the stage where the whole family will be in surgical masks before long.

And if one more person cheerfully reminds me that its not even winter yet I may scream!

I have felt so crappy today and just kept getting worse during the day at work. Fever, muscle aches, sore throat, runny nose, etc. Talk about bad timing. We are having a garage sale tomorrow morning and DH has to go to work halfway through it. Ad already in paper and last chance to do it for months.

jill, my plans for tomorrow have been cancelled, i was hoping to do some sewing but please get in touch if you need help - GO TO BED NOW!! lol

allergy house - i went back to work in aug/sept last year and it was november before i put in a timesheet without sick or carers leave, and dh did half of it then!!! (now he does most of it as i have NO paid leave left!)

Thanks Karen. At least I have the au pair here to look after kids! original.gif I have just painted signs and put kids to bed. Now my turn (once they stay in bed)! lol!

From March to Dec last year was our bad run. I have no paid sick leave left until September. I have been so thankful about our good run since December. I only hope that the kids don't pick up this one.
