We are thinking of this if we have a ds, but dh seemed to think he knew more female baileys....
I have mostly only ever heard of it as a male name...what's your thoughts? MALE OR FEMALE?

To me i associate Bailey as a BOYS name
clumpy

IMO it's a surname, or a dog name, not a first name.
But if I heard it I'd assume it was on a boy.

My cousin has a son named "Bailey", so I'd associate it with boys.

Boy and Girl for me.
Probably more so girl. I guess it depends on which you know more of, either more Baileys as boys or more Baileys as girls.
I also think of the lovely alcoholic creamy drink

I think it's entirely unisex but only like it for a boy.
I think Boy when I hear it.

That spelling I associate with a boy.
I associate 'Bailee' with a girl.

I only think of the drink

yum!
JMO but I think it is a bit of a wussy name

I am not really a fan of a boyish name for girls either when there are so many pretty girls names

I think of it as the central criminal court in England, as well as an alcoholic drink. I can't understand why people name their children after these things, no matter how tasty Bailey's Irish Cream is...

A boys name, but far too common now.

Too feminine for a boy and too masculine for a girl.

But if I heard it I would assume boy.

Girl

But then it is reassuring to me that many see it as a "boys" name - as that was what we were aiming for!
Personally, I dislike names that end in an "ee" sound, for boys.
Think Corey, Bailey, Ashley etc... In my mind they're more feminine male names.
Oh... and the alcoholic drink thing only became apparent
after we'd chosen names for our girls... Funny really, because M and I rarely drink, and when we do it's likely to be rum or vodka

Surname, could be used for either sex.
I don't like the drink, which has been around and well known for decades.
I think it is most commonly used on boys.
So ChickenNugget, you want the names you have given your daughters to be thought of as boys names? You didn't see them as unisex but as boys?

I definitely associate it with a boy.

Personally, I feel the names I have chosen
are unisex, although I'm sure many would disagree.
Names like "Liam" or "Jacob" or "Thomas" strike me as very masculine... whereas Cooper and Bailey (and you're right - occupational surnames) aren't quite as strong, if that's the word.
Having named Cooper a "boy's" name, we agreed it would be a little odd to call our second daughter anything overly feminine... "Cooper and Jasmine", for example, would have struck me as odd.
I guess the only thing that I'm not thrilled about, is the fact that Bailey has been used numerous times in the past for girls, whereas Cooper is the only girl I know with her name.

I have heard it used for both sexes, but definitely prefer it for a male.

heehee, it happens to be our favourite drink...but that is not why we have chosen the name!
I saqw you in the pregnancy section the other day chicken nugget, and i saw your bailey was a girl! Oh well, i don't mind, i see as more boy so i guess that is all that matters!

Unisex, but I much prefer it as a boy's name. It's not overly pretty/feminine/girly which is why I don't associate it with a little girl.

While every mother thinks their child is beautiful, I'd be deluding myself to think of Cooper as feminine or girly - she's just so full of energy and mischief! Bailey may be different, but somehow I highly doubt it
