Do you know where can I buy good birthday cake in Canberra?

We got our DD's 1st b'day cake from the cheesecake shop. We just got a plain sponge cake, and really got rid of alot of the cream and jam and icing (not all but toned it down because I didn't want DD eating all that sugary stuff - it was sugary enough as it was). Anyway, it was a really good cake. I'd definately go back there again. They have many different cakes to choose from, and you can also get different designs and pictures on the cake.
Personally I don't like Michele's Patisserie cakes - but some people do.
Good luck in finding what you want!

There's a really nice cake shop in Fyshwick - don't know the street name, but I could tell you how to get there.... opposite Freedom Furniture.

Woolworths! Woolworths! Woolworths!
Their bakery section has all different sizes up to big slabs and they will do whatever design and writing you want for a very reasonable price, I think they just need 24 hours notice.
We were still eating DD's birthday slab for a week after the event.

I second the cheesecake shop. We got one of their sponge numbers for DS's first birthday and it was really nice. He loved the winnie the pooh pic on the top as well.
I guess it really depends on if you are having a big party or just a quiet family affair. For DD's first birthday I just got an icecream cake and a chocolate cake from the freezer section of the super market. She LOVES icecream. They where a fraction of the price of getting them from a shop that makes icecream cakes and I just put a few special ornaments on it and sparklers (I love sparklers)
cheers

My boys have food intolerances, and I have always been really careful what they eat - even at birthdays. We have always made our own cake for birthdays - just a plain round cake, cut in half with strawberry jam and whipped cream in the middle, and iced with simple butter icing. Lately they have a few smarties on top as well. My boys love it, as they get to help make the cake and help decorate it too.
