Next month my husband and I will have been together 10 years. We have a babysitter and will go out for dinner, but what else???? Movies seems a bit boring for this, what else is there to do in Canberra?

How about parking up on Red Hill? ;p

Seriously, movies and dinner's about it! What about a really fancy dinner? The Lobby, or The Hyatt, or Telstra Tower?
Or you could try: a balloon ride; a dirty weekend (or evening) at Rydges; a Murrumbateman BnB for the night (with wine tastings); a flutter at the casino; a show at the Canberra Theatre; a romantic stroll (?) through Civic; the 'love bus' tour (a bus tour of some of the sex shops and brothels - teehee); paddle boating on the lake; a romantic bike ride and picnic (oh wait, have you tried that??); breakfast at Tilleys; a star show thingy at the planetarium in d*ckson etc etc.

How about a night at the theatre? Or see if there're any good concerts?

But what's wrong with dinner and a show? original.gif

To add to the previous list:
- C*cktails at the Hyatt before dinner.
- Champagne picnic in the Sculpture Garden at dusk and watch the full moon rise.

I have always wanted to get a little row boat and pootle around the lake in the winter on a clear starry night with fog swirling over the water and lots of blankets and a thermos of hot coffee.

I like the idea of the stars at d*ckson. Scott would love that!

You guys have great ideas, will also check out the show idea.

We have a babysitter for the evening, but now the whole night. I am also very fearful of my safety at night.

Thanks,
Sarah

Let me guess - these are the words of someone recently moved from Sydney or Melbourne?

Generally, Canberra is fine - especially if you stay clear of the nightclub precincts in Civic and Manuka after about 10pm.

You could try a dinner cruise on the lake. It's not as spectacular as sydney but apparently very good. Thrers also telstra tower I can't remember the name of the restaurant but apparently its also very good.

Have lots of fun no matter what you do, a whole night I certainly wouldn't know what to do...

Make sure you smile today,
Natalie

Mitsi's on Red Hill is lovely.

DH & I went up there for our anniversary and the view is beautiful and food was nice too.

Capital Executive apartments has a Cuddle and Bubble package too... A night in a spa suite, dinner, champagne and chocolates in the bedroom and buffet breakfast. It costs $275 but when you think about what you're getting it's a pretty good price.

Actually, I grew up in a rural area outside of Sydney and have lived here for 10 years.

I think my "fears" come from a year 3 teacher who educated me too well on stranger danger and being broken into a couple of years ago.

Off to check out the cruise!

Popping in to say I have decided to go on the dinner cruise (haven't told DH about it all, will suprise him).

I also wanted to clarify that I wasn't saying "Actually" with my hands on my hips, but matter of factly... I didn't write it very well and things are read differently very easily.

Thanks again for everyones ideas!

Mmmmm, I think I will need a new outfit too! Can you tell we don't get out much?
