Has anyone ever regretted the name you chose for your bub?

The name of our last born has turned out to be the same name of a long dead relative who was a very violent evil man. We didn't know we'd accidently chosen a family name at the time, SIL is doing the family tree and found out the colourful history of this bloke - and older members of the family have now only just piped up and said yes that is a family name - the buggers - but never said anything at the time. So my bub is now a namesake reminder of someone very unpleasant, what does one do?

I don't think you should worry about it. You could probably find a 'bad' person for every name out there. Okay, so he was family but you didn't even know who he was until now so he mustn't have been recent family. Gee I'm not making sense. Sorry I'm no help whatsoever.

Reclaim the name!

Try not to let this upset you or regret the name you have chosen for your son.
We are not defined by our names,but of who we are as people.Regardless of your son's name I'm sure he will grow up to be a wonderful person.

I just hope he doesn't work out the history himself one day - then I'll have some explaining to do....

The name is particular to that child.

I'm sure lots of people have the same name as someone not so nice no big deal even if it is a distant relative.
