I was just wondering where I'd find information about music lessons eg:
- music teachers/private tuition in Canberra
- at what ages it would be appropriate to start
- how to determine what instruments would be best for particlaur children

My DD has a keyboard and a 3/4 sized guitar which she got at Christmas and seems interested in using them but I'm not sure how to go about helping her with them as I don't play an instrument myself. Looking for something that will be "fun" and satisfy her curiosity without any "pressure".

TIA.

BellChambers Music in Belconnen is great. They have a variety of instrument teachers and you can even hire the instrument - great til you work out if they are going to stick at it!!!

As for the age to start I recently saw the guy who is in charge of music for playschool on TV. He said it is dependant upon their ability to follow instructions, his son was 8 and his daughter was 5.

We waited til the girls tried to teach themselves first, 6 and 8, but have bought DSS 14 a guitar and guide book as a b'day gift this month hoping to inspire him into playing. Bit of a gamble but we think he will enjoy it.

Just remember there is also "Music for Everyone" too. My ExDH says that they are great - he is a Muso.

Both have websites I think.
