The boys really seem to have 'grown up' a lot lately and it has been slightly less chaotic taking them out as you can explain things to them, they can talk a bit etc.

So I decided to be brave and do something I have been wanting to do for ages. We went to the pool.

OMG! What WAS I thinking.

They both jumped straight in proving that they have NO fear. My eyes were on Levi for a second and I turn to see Chase trying to go down the ladder of the DEEP end. They spotted some kids playing in deeper water and they were off. They kept both deciding to lose their footing and go under at exactly the same time. Hunter cracked it and was cold but trying to get him dry and dressed and watching the boys was a nightmare: thankfully I ran into someone who did him for me! Then there was trying to get them both out: I would just capture one tantrumming 'don't want to leave the pool' child and as I'd grab the other the first would try and jump back in!

By the time I got home I felt like I needed a big strong drink! Yes, I learnt a lot from the experience (Hunter can just stay in the pram and watch next time and MUST invest in some floaties) but I think my heart will be pounding before we even get in there next time.

laughing2.gif Cat. I take my kids to the pool with my Mum so it is not so bad. I think I would have needed a VERY stiff drink after that too! roll2.gif

But it does get better.

My first couple of visits were a nightmare BUT now I can go on my own (Though I dont have the extra little one) and the boys put on their back bubbles and off they go.

I go to a learn to swim pool that has public swimming from 12-3 (something that not many people know ph34r.gif ) so we usually pretty much have a heated indoor pool to ourselves. I actually quite enjoy our swimming days now

did you take them on your own cat? OMG even when dh and i take our three together it is bloody exhausting and i feel like i can't take my eyes off them for a moment! i can't imagine being on my own with twins and one!!! yikes!

biggrin.gif I had that delusional thought as well!! We haven't been back since!!! All I can say is, thank goodness it's nearly winter!!

And to be honest, I actually found the beach "easier"!! The waves were scarier enough to keep Lachlan from going too deep, Ethan was awestruck by the seagulls and Caleb was happy enough to eat sand blush.gif Was a much better outcome!! cool.gif

Oh my gosh! You are so brave taking them on your own.

I still wont take mine on my own. And mine are 4.5yrs and DD1 is 8! But I have one that has no fear and will run off and jump off diving blocks (and not even care that she needs help to get to the surface) and the other will choke me, scratch me and scream in my ears.

You poor thing, I am sure if you went a few more times they would eventually understand the routine and not be so difficult about staying put and getting out.

In situations like that TV or chocolate bribery always work well for me. wink.gif

About 3 months ago, my sister visited and we all went to the pool, so there were 3 kids, one baby and 4 adults and it seemed really hard to keep an eye on them. So we haven't gone again yet, though I have thought about it.

The thing is, sometimes you just have that urge to go out and be a normal person original.gif I found the pool tricky enough at that age without a baby as well - so you did well to even contemplate it. Once they get a bit older it will be easier as they seem to understand the "if you run off we will go home" thing original.gif

Oh bugger!

I remember going through stuff like that, but I didn't have a baby as well. Just know it will get easier one day original.gif.
