ok,

so im pregnant with my first, a little boy!
We have decided on Jordan
i want to have his middle name as my fathers name. Then i think its unfair so i think we should have my partners fathers name too, who died 8 years ago.

so his name will be Jordan Alan David... Is 2 middle names too many?
clumpy
We gave Josie two middle names. The second is my maiden name. So obviously I don't think it's too much, and I like the sentiment of using both your fathers' names.

I think its fine, but.....

What happens when u have another boy, and ur first has his 2granfathers names and the next boy doesnt have any.

We did this for DS and it is a really nice honour. The next baby will have 2 middle names also. We are going to honour the great grandfathers/grandmothers.

All four of mine were given two middle names and all were after family members from both sides, and three of our are boys.

all my girls have 2 middle names. eldest DD has her great grandmas names. middle DD has her uncles names (female version) and DD3 has half of my middle name with one that her father like.

my DH has already picked the next lot of middles names as well as we are hopin to expand our family. he has put his middle name (runs in his side of the family) and my dads name together for a DS if we have one and if we have another DS, DH has put my grand fathers 2 names together

It's lovely I agree, my son has 2 middle names for his great grandfathers, and hasn't been a drama at all yet.

We have DS1 2 middle names after his grandfathers & one of the middle names covers all his great grandfathers also.
When we had DS2 we didn't have any family names left to use as middle names laughing2.gif (european family where all the names are the same) so I just picked one middle name that I liked. With DS3 we had a hard enough time picking his first name so skipped the middle name altogether laughing2.gif

I like the idea of two middle names as long as you give every child two.

My children all have 2 middle names, as does my husband. I love it. Our children's first 2 names are unique to our family, to an extent. I have a great grandfather x 4 who was called Seth laughing2.gif.

Their 2nd middle name is a family name, Carmen and Royrie are us and Nina, James & Maria are my grandparents.

We have plenty of names left to use, my dad & paternal grandfather (same name), 1 of Royrie's grandfathers, Royrie's 2 middle names.

I agree, thats why every child has the same number of names chosen the same way.

my BIL has 3 middle names - he was the youngest and so his parents just used up all the names they liked wink.gif

I think it's nice to have grandparent's names for middle names - people in my family have done that too. DF and I are doing something similar for our bub.

I agree it would be nice to keep the same number for your other children (if you have them), but I don't think they would really care original.gif It's so common to have family names for the first child (or first male) and then to do what you like.

Both of my kids have two...
Kaylan is Kaylan Pamella Joy, named after my mother because she had passed away. Pamella Joy was mums first and middle name. Joy is also my grandmas nn. She is Audrey and i would love to use her name next time too
Then Levi came along and we were just going to give him Thomas as his middle name, but then i thought i should add Dads name as well cos my brother didnt pass any names on. So Levi ended up with Levi Thomas Ross. Thomas runs in hubbys family and Ross is Dads name.
Hubby didnt like the idea of 2 middle names but went for it anyway grin.gif and next time we will do the same too...
Just have to decide whos and what names to use lol laughing2.gif

Our DS1 and DS2 both have one middle name (family names) but this baby (DS3!!) will most likely be having two middle names.

I really love having a family associated name as the middle name and it so happens that DH and I have both lost our grandfathers since DS2 was born. We feel it fitting to have two middle names, honouring both of our grandfathers. We couldn't use one without the other.

And as for DS1 and 2 only having one middle name - I don't think it's a biggie!! Nor do I care, I love their names as they stand and am happy with the 3 names we've chosen for this bubba!! original.gif
