We've been thinking for a little while about getting a tramp for our DS (just turned 2years), as he a very active little fellow.

Obviously , one with a safety net. My friend has one, and her two kids ( both under 5), just love it.

Anyway, how can it be secured to the ground, to prevent it getting damaged, or blown into the side of the house, in a very high wind ??

I'm sure that some of you ladies will have an answer for me, as ATM, there seems to be a tramp in nearly every backyard I pass biggrin.gif

Thanks, I'm such a dooh, about some things.

The one that we got from KMart (a junior one with net surrounding it) has long pegs that go into the ground to make sure it doesn't fall over. Like a camping tent really. Hope this helps.

Where do you live - on top of a mountain????

They really aren't that light. We have a 12 foot one with enclosure, and DH just manages to move it a little way so that he can mow the lawn. I would find it highly unlikely that it would get blown anywhere.

DD loves her trampoline. We made the mistake of giving it to her for Christmas, and she really didn't want us to jump on there with her. We really wanted to (who was the trampoline for again? wacko.gif ) and now she is alsways asking us to jump on there with her. What were we thinking ddoh.gif

I think swing sets and trampolines are great investments. They would be the toys that get used the most at our place.

We have had a trampoline since my youngest was 5 years old. It has been the favourite piece of play equipment for them all (all except bubs but i'm sure it wont take long once he's on the move.)

Although ours doesnt have a safety net, my children quite often use friends trampoline which does. I'm sure you'll find it to be great. They are really quite heavy and stable once they're set up.

Also leave plenty of time to set them up. We made the mistake of doing this quite late the night before dd's birthday and it took us quite a while lol! biggrin.gif

We got the 12ft with enclosure from Toys R Us for DS for his 3rd birthday last year.

Best investment we made and he loves having his little friends come over, they all go crazy on it! (and so do DH and I!!).

As a PP said, they aren't exactly lightweight, we had some pretty major winds here recently and it wasn't going anywhere original.gif

Thanks for all the replies.

Yes, I'd heard from my friend about the lenght of time required to get them assembled laughing2.gif . The safety mat caused a few issues with her hubby. All the better prepared to help out friends setting one up, me thinks !!!

~Sally77~,no, we don't live on top of a mountain. We live in a flat, open area called Bannockburn, just outside Geelong, Victoria, and sometimes it gets very very windy. last winter, the friends I mentioned lost their tramp in high winds. Luckily, they could claim it on insurance. They now have the 2nd one tied down using ropes. I was hoping for a more tidier way of securing one, as I really don't want to risk it smashing into the house, if we have a period of nasty, high winds.

amandamaker, -Those tent type thingies, sound like a great idea.

Holy Crap about with winds! ohmy.gif

Maybe you could do what Will Smith had done with his tramp and sink it into the ground. When we finally get our renovations done, I would like to get this done. I think it looks greaat!

Yeah, the winds are a PIA, but luckily, it's not too often that they get really bad.

Have just bought a 12 ft tramp on Ebay, got it for $217, plus $100 delivery, as OH is away for work ATM.
I'm very happy with that.

I'm sure that DS (and Moi also laughing2.gif )will get heaps of use out of it !!!What agreat way to get him using up some energy, and away from the telly.

Thanks everyone for your replies.
