I can tell the difference between colours (just replying to the questions in last thread), but it is very subtle. I have found actually that I combine 2 foundation colours and get the perfect one for me. But honestly, the 3 in the sample pack that I chose would all work fine. I also have found that semi-matte works well for me in controlling shine.
As far as pores go, are you using a toner at all? That might help?
I recently ordered more stuff from EM, and have gotten the lipsticks and love them as well.

I got my samples two days ago.
My reaction to it?

AWESOME! 2/3 samples go beautifully with my skin tone. DH thought I looked amazing..and it makes my skin look just brighter, fresher and so so natural. Also got the kabuki brush, which was a really good buy.

My EB sample pack arrived about a week and a half after I ordered it, which I thought was great!
I love the blush

(I got the apple one because a few ladies on here were saying how good it was). It is the first blush I've ever been able to put on without ending up looking like a circus clown
The foundations are great, too. It's so quick and easy to apply and last all day. I love that I can touch it up and it doesn't then look caked on. I also love that it feels like I'm not wearing any make up!
The kabuki brush, though? Meh. Take it or leave it. If you already have a fat brush that will do fine.
Question for those that have bought the full size foundations - are they as messy as the samples? I am making a huge mess every time I use mine. I had to take the plastic bit out of the pot as the holes kept getting blocked, though.
Anyways, off to order some more!

yummymummy I am so glad I am not the only one making a mess with my samples!
My sample kit arrived today, I LOVE it!! The foundation I have tried today looks great, and it feels so light, like wearing nothing. I keep looking in the mirror just to make sure it's still there lol
I cant wait to order a custom kit, but want to try all the foundations first to get the best colour for me, though it seems two of the three will be pretty much perfect.

I'm so jealous of you all who have been using your make up. I have some samples but have ordered some more. I ordered a full kit and a mini kit. Can't wait as I ordered some brushes as well.
yummymummy - I'm off to see if I have a flat brush to tie me over until my EM ones arrive

Hi Girls,
Big makeup junky here! I have tired hundreds of foundations over my time and I did try a mineral foundation and found it disgusting! It sat in any wrinkles and made my pores look huge. I kept hearing how good they were so I thought I would try PUR Minerals - I saw it on TVSN and it was expensive so went onto Ebay USA and it was much cheaper to get it sent from there. I bought Golden Medium as my complexion is average to pale and it came with its own brush. I love it!! it is fantastic and does not sit in creases, so easy to apply with the brush - you do have to have a moistuirser on underneath first and it is just great so this one comes highly recommended!!

Has anyone tried to order anything from the new Everday Minerals site yet? I am trying to, but the minimum I can get postage for is $12 (for a 12g foundation). Seems a bit much to me and more than I paid for the sample kit?

Hey Guys I have read some of your posts about Foundation, Mineral Powders and Makeup.
I have found the best products ever. They are botanically based which means they are really good for you. Swiss Skincare products. They have an awesome mineral powder foundation that at first when I used it, it enlarged my pores and looked yuk, but they also have a makeup primer which i purchased and put underneath the mineral powder and it looked absolutely awesome!

Bumping up for some advice.
Thank you to whoever posted the code for the Everyday Minerals 20% off this month

. I now have a new addiction

and wanted some advice.
I've never really applied makeup before and the whole notion of a powder concealer seems a bit strange (but does seem to work). But how do I know when I've buffed enough? What order do the layers go in ie foundation/concealer/finishing powder or concealer/foundation/finishing powder?
And I would love to hear your application tips and tricks for mineral makeup - whether it's how you store your makeup to how you apply.
I suspect I'll be in here for a while trying to suss out this makeup so would love to chat to some other users.
And littlepoppet - to order the free sample kit on EM you go to the custom kits and it's a kit that you put into your shopping cart. Once its in your shopping cart you can either drag your items to the shopping cart or hit the "add to kit" button that will appear next to each item. I know you asked a while ago but in case you're still wondering.

I have just discovered mineral makeup on recommendation of my beautician and I am loving it. No one has mentioned GLOMINERALS though so was wondering whether anyone's tried it? I have the GloMinerals pressed base foundation with SPF 15. They have 16 different shades to match your skin and available in liquid and loose powder as well. It calmed down my sensitive skin straight away, gave a dewy matte finish that lasted all day even with my super greasy skin. The coverage is buildable and no powdery mess that you get from loose powder. I have found a US site that sell them a lot cheaper too.
I haven't tried EM yet but want to as it's so cheap but has anyone had problems with breakouts after using them? Also what formula do you think is best for sensitive combination skin (intensive, semi-matte, matte etc)? I might try the free sample pack.

I am a newly addicted EveryDay Minerals junkie. I love the stuff! My skin has improved beyond belief using it and I don't seem to break out on my face at all anymore even when AF is due.
I just got my first big order during the week which was an absolute bargain with the 20% off, I already want to put another order in. I had previously had 2 sample kits. I also have 3 more sample kits on order at the moment 2 for my Mum (who is newly converted has actually been an Avon Rep for almost 20 years) and one for the neighbours teenage DD.
I tried the Avon Mineral Makeup but all the shades were far too orangey for me and they only do foundation, I looked at the Revlon range but none of the colours were right there to even try.
What are the Glominerals prices like? Do you have a link?
Mousse - I personally do concealer first, then foundation and then would do a finishing powder (I don't use one at this stage yet but want to try it out soon) I am not much a makeup guru though so maybe someone else could help you out.

Glad to hear I'm not the only mineral junkie - I've already put in 3 orders and am contemplating a 4th (shhhh don't tell DH). I've fallen in love with some of the eye shadows and I don't even wear eye shadow. After that I should be finished.
Zebette - interesting you say that about the Avon minerals. I was tempted to try them except couldn't find a rep to take my order. Sounds like it's lucky I changed to EM as thats the one complaint I have about my old makeup - I'd be an orange by the end of the day. And thanks for letting me know about which order you do things.
RaisingTwo - Glominerals sounds interesting - will have to have a look at them. As for breakouts - I haven't had one yet due to EM but I'm only a week into using them. I like the fact that my face doesn't feel "made up" with it on. I'll be curious to see how continued use of it goes.
I'm going to have a bit of a play with my make up on Monday and see how I go and whether I can resist the eyeshadow.

I caved yesterday and ordered some eye shadows. Hopefully now I'll stop buying stuff and use up the stuff I've got. I keep watching for the postie now and can't wait for all the orders to arrive.

A great primer that I have been using with or without makeup is NATIO GLOW. It smooths out your complexion and makes you look sort of glowy and is great under mineral makeup as it highlights your complexion without making you look shimmery.
Bugger about the discount. I might try the 10% discount code this afternoon. I'm also surprised shipping takes so long because I'm hoping to get some full sized foundation and blushes before August

.

KareBare - I ordered on the 10th of June and had my first order in 10 working days (so the 23rd I think) - I'm in Tassie so not in a big city/mainland. If it's the same turn around for my second order it should be arriving Thurs this week.
I do know they were completely slammed with orders while they had 20% off and they also had some issues with things being out of stock - which may have delayed your order. I would suggest emailing their help desk and seeing what they say.
RaisingTwo - thanks for the primer suggestion. I'll have a look for that when I head into work tomorrow. It sounds wonderful and just what I'm looking for.
I have to say applying make up seems like a whole new world to me - my DH has just laughed at how into the whole thing I'm getting. I figure that as I've got 2 girls I'll need to show them how to wear make up so I should learn myself

(thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it).

Thanks to all your rave reviews, I ordered 8 sample pots (I only kept 4 as the others were too light for me) and I think so far so good

. Honestly? The only reason I'm trying mineral make up is because some of the brands (I've not researched fully yet) contain less harmful/toxic/unsafe ingredients than other make-up. Apparently

.
I want to try a few other shades to get an exact match and I'll see how it goes. I have a brush but I might buy their Kabuki as my one and only brush is really a blush brush and it has a gentle 'edge' to it I don't want which hinders application a little.
I use a little, blend heaps and see how my skin looks before adding more.
I also want to try Jane Iredale, Paulas Choice, ID Bare Minerals and Glominerals before buying a full-size

Glad I got in before the 20% finished.
I ordered around the 8 June and received it all within 2wks I think.
Primers: There are a few on the market - Napoleon (good), Benefit (good), Natio (did nothing for my skin), MAC, Sheseido ...

Sometimes my EM order takes up to 3 weeks to come, it depends if customs holds it up, that has happened once and it took ages to arrive,...I guess a box of mineral powder is a bit suss for them. With concealers, how do you apply them Mine look so cakey on, and highlight any lines. I did find applying with a wet foundation brush and putting a light wet wash on the whole eye area was alright, but not as smooth an application as the foundation buffing (mainly need for undereye circles..have tried sunlight and considering the peach colour). Also how do you apply the mint concealer ? wet or dry, and any hints on the eyeshadow without making a big mess.
dippinsniffer
04/07/2008, 11:00 AM
I would say that with
any product if it does not look good with a light application (what's light? what's one layer .. all subjective isn't it

??) then the colour is not right. Either try another colour in their range or try another brand. So far I found the concealor 'OK' so I'll try another colour or get one in another brand.
I like the foundation and the finishing powder is fine for very light coverage or over foundation if I'm going to a wedding or something and want my skin to look great for photos.
~Mousse~
04/07/2008, 01:09 PM
Bellyblue - With my EM concealer I just apply it in the same manner as the foundation. I'm waiting for my EM concealer brush to arrive to see if that helps around the eye area.
On the EM forum they have a lot of application tips depending on how you want your make up to look. I've read that you can lightly spray your brush once it's loaded with the powder and it gives you a more "airbrushed" look - but I haven't had a chance to try it yet.
I haven't yet tried the mint concealer (that's in another one of my orders) so will let you know about that once I've tried it. And as for eyeshadow I can't help you there - I'm waiting for mine to arrive. But if you really want to know search "foiling" on the EM forum as there are few ladies there who are great at explaining what they do.
Dippinsniffer - thanks for the primer recommendations. I will definitely look for some of the ones you recommend. Also let me know what you think of hte other mineral makeups. I really only started with EM due to it's price (as I didn't want to spend a fortune on one foundation and hate it iykwim). And I would love to know how it compares with the other products out there. And I'll add another name to try if you're interested - Musq. A work colleague raves about it and it's all Australian.
dippinsniffer
04/07/2008, 03:58 PM
Yes, I have Musq on my list of things to try. And yes, I have an 'upper limit' of what I'm willing to spend and I won't use something if it goes over that. I'm not sure of the cost of other mineral make-up brands but I'll find out soon enough

~Mousse~
10/07/2008, 11:08 AM
Janey - sorry I can't help with picking colours (I'm still trying to work out my own). Have a look at the EM forums as they have lots of photos and suggestions that might help. Thats where I go for my suggestions.
RaisingTwo - thanks for the primer recommendation. Have been using Glow for a week now and love how it makes me feel.
bellyblue - I got the EM concealer brush on Monday and I love it. It makes putting on concealer near my eyes so much easier. I think any fine "paintbrush" type applicator would work. I just apply the concealer dry with the brush and then buff over it when I apply my foundation. It seems to be working well.
And for anyone that's interested EM is currently doing 15% off - use the code "costarica". That is valid till 15 June.
I've been really loving mineral makeup. I thought all the steps would be too much work, but I find I'm faster at this than the other foundations I've tried (and failed at). My DH is quite relieved at how natural it looks (I think he thought I was going to end up looking like Bobo the Clown).
My next challenge is eye shadow - wish me luck

Hi ladies,
Sorry if this has been asked before, but how do you all store your mineral makeup? I'm always in a rush in the mornings and I get a bit annoyed at opening each jar and closing it. It's also quite messy (probably cos I'm in a rush LOL).

bluelagoon - I've just gone out and bought a new makeupcase for my new stash (my DH thinks I'm mad). It means that when I open my case everything I use each day is in the top and them I can extend it out for things I don't use quite so regularly. Here's a link
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NOVA-PINK-MAKEUP-BO...1QQcmdZViewItemAs I have two DD who like to help me when I"m putting my makeup on, I'm not game to try and store the makeup without lids on, but theoretically it would be possible in my case. I would suggest not storing them upside down though as to me that makes it far messier of a morning.
I'm loving this mineral makeup though - I'm turning into a real fanatic. I'm heading to the MAC counter tomorrow as a couple of websites have recommended their paintpots as a good eye shadow primer.
Anyone have any tips for applying loose powder eyeshadow - I'm all ears.

03/08/2008, 04:12 PM
Bumping us up. Bump Bump
I have to say I still love this mineral makeup - but it's just so addictive. I've been playing around with mineral eyeshadow which is great fun. Anyone have any tips for stopping the fall out of extra mineral when I'm applying it?
I've also been playing with applying my foundation wet - I'm not sure I like it. I've been putting my brush into the foundation and then dampening the brush before applying it. It just feels claggy and thick though. My friend loves applying her makeup that way - so I suppose it's just one of those things you either love or you hate.
Any other mineral freaks out there????

Hello

Mineral freak reporting for duty

I've just ordered the eyeshadow sample kit and some other bits and pieces. I ordered some silk dust to try as well. I'm hoping that it will do as it says and keep my makeup on all day. I have oily skin and live in a humid climate so I hope this helps.
What are everyones recommendations for primers? I know it may have been discussed before but I don't have time to go back through the other posts and see what others have said.. I really want to try Napoleon's Auto Pilot but I am baulking at the price. For now, I am going to try Rimmel London's Recover Perfect Skin Primer. It's $9.95 and there have been some good reports about it.
I haven't tried using my make up wet before. I do have to sometimes dab my face with a little water on some dry spots after I have applied my foundation. I'm not sure if it's the type of foundation (I'm using the matte formula) or if my skin is just drier in some areas (most probably).
I love the makeup case you bought ~Mousse~! I made myself a little zippered pouch especially for my new makeup collection but I have a feeling that I will be needing to make a new bigger sized one LOL!
Oooh, I also bought one of those puff jars. I'm thinking of putting the silk dust in it. Not too sure yet. I'll see how it goes when it turns up.
I've been having fun checking out youtube for different reviews and makeup tips!!!

I got my second batch of EM samples recently which are
much closer to my skin colour if not an exact match! The first lot only had 1 colour that matched (out of 6 I bought) and this lot have 3/3 matching so I'm happy. I also ordered the baby kabuki which is good

. With this batch, I've decided 'original glo' makes my skin look much more natural than 'matt' or 'semi-glo'.
It's a pity most of the other brands do not do samples as I REALLY want to try some of the other brands of mineral make-up next later this year. I've only found one other brand that does samples but don't ask me the name as I can't remember ... I've bookmarked it so I'll let you'll know later.

I've tried EM concealers for my skin colour and no, none match. Not every brand will have the perfect match of everything.
I think I've found the right foundation colour (3 and they are generally a good match) so I've got a few months of trying as their sample pots are quite generous.
I have a feeling it does not last very long on my face (definitely not 8hrs ... maybe 4-5?) but I'll know for sure at the end of my trial period

Angel - I've got quite a few of their eyeshadows (I admit I'm waiting for my third

eyeshadow kit). I just love their purples and browns/neutrals and have just started to branch into some of their bolder colours. I'm still learning how to apply loose eyeshadows.
Dippinsniffer - on one of the websites I was looking at they recommended if you can't find a good mineral concealer then try a foundation that is just slightly lighter than your normal colour of mineral foundation. Might be worth a try if you have a lighter shade in your samples.
MeNess - thanks for those links - I am really loving looking at everything that's out there. My DH is laughing at me as I've gone from having absolutely no makeup to having a case full(and lusting after a whole lot more

).
Well I've been using EM for over a month now and I still love it. It's making me eager to get a bit more adventurous which is why I've started with eyeshadow. I'm still not game enough to try things like mascara - but I'm sure that will come...
