While we are talking parks, I'm looking for a dog off lead area to take our pooch to. Any suggestions? (We live in Waramanga.)

You can get maps for each suburb which show where dogs are allowed off lead. You can get them at the Government shop fronts.

Thanks for that - I have actually been to the Canberra Community Shop front thing and the map they gave me was pretty useless - only areas where the dog must be on lead due to other activities and users in the areas (funnily the areas are right on school property and community sports ovals - banned areas!)a... I really wanted a designated off lead area as currently we go to Queenbyan for this and I really wanted to find somewhere else closer. River ones look good. Thanks for the link.
