Names with DH is proving to be difficult and I'm worried.
Last night he suggested "Ellie"...any thoughts. Is it too nicknameish...does "Ellie the Elephant" spring to mind at all? Is it pretty?
Also for boys
Zac or Cody?
Thanks ladies

Ellie - it is pretty, but I do think it's too juvenile and nicknamey on its own. What about Eleanor, Eloise, Elizabeth, Elena, or any of the -ella or -elle names as a full name?
For a boy, definitely Zac as a nickname for Isaac, Zachary, Zachariah or Zaccheus. Cody is bogan, sorry.

I LOVE Zac, but only as a nn for Zachary, Zaccheus or Zachariah.
Ellie is gorgeous, but totally agree with Clumpy "it's too juvenile and nicknamey on its own". I like it as a nn for Ella, Gabrielle, Penelope or Eloise. I am sure there are many other options out there!
Cody - Im not a huge fan. My brother's dogs name is Cody - so that is what I relate it to.

Ellie is pretty for a NN I prefer a more formal name, perhaps even Elle, thats very simple and pretty.
I really like Zac short for Zachary.

I agree with
clumpy exactly.

I like Ellie and Zac, but not Cody. I don't think of Ellie the elephant at all.
I think that the nicknamie thing is a personal thing as we have named our children with the names that we will call them, rather than a longer name with a nickname.

I like Cody although I am biased. First time I've heard it's bogan like.

Not too fond of the name Ellie BUT absolutely adore the name Zac !!
Obviously I am biased though

We have recently just had another little boy (8 weeks ago) whom we have called Zachary Cohen (NN Zac)
Not keen on Cody, but do like the name Kobe which is kind of similar?
Goodluck!

Clumpy is right.
Ella is also nice, as is Elle.

I have a DD Ellie so obviously I adore it. Someone said to me that she will be called Ellie Elephant at school but I think its a gorgeous name. DH calls her Ellie Belly (which I hate) cos she kinda has a big belly! I definitely think its a pretty name.
I love Cody and Coby for boys.....not much Zac though, every Zac I know is really naughty!

I agree with Clumpy -Cody is well,.... American sounding and ummm, well I just don't like it.
Zac/Zachary is much better (IMO).
I love Eloise and Ellie/Elly is sweet too but perhaps it is nice as a nickname or a little girl's name however it would be preferable to have a grown-up name to fall back on i.e Eloise or Eleanor or Eliza etc.
I am Kristina but grew up with as a child as Krissy and now get called Kris or Kristina.

Tks girls...Eloise is quite nice I might suggest that to DH.
Interesting feed back on Cody. I'm not really sold on Zach yet...need to keep thinking some more I think.

I like Zac, not a fan of Cody.
As for Ellie - I wanted to use that as a NN for my daughter, we chose the name Ellyse (and chose that spelling as it had Elly in it). We absolutely love her name, but NEVER call her Elly (my mum calls her elly belly like PP). I guess she may get it as she gets older. I love Eloise too with NN elly Elly too.
Good luck.

PP are probably right about Ellie sounding like a nickname as I am often asked if my name is short for something.
I have never been called Ellie the Elephant (well not to my face) but have been called Smellie Ellie and Ellie with the big fat belly. Never bothered me as I figured you could be called worse.
If you do go with Ellie what ever you do dont use the middle name May/Mae...that would be just cruel. If I had a dollar everytime someone mentioned the tv show I would be a rich lady.

I think Ellie is a nice name, and I also love the name Cody! I don't think it is a bogan name at all.
(My almost 4yo is named Cody and his twin sister is Crystal)
