Hi All

Just wondering if anyone here has sent their children to Radford, and if so how they have found it? I'm considering registering Kaitlyn for the new Kindergarten that they are opening in a couple of years, but I'm just wanting opinions on the school before we do so... TIA!

If you are at all interested i would put her name down ASAP, as in tomorrow. Spots at Radford are extremely competitive to get so i wouldnt waste any time at all. AFAIK it costs $100 to put your DD on the waiting list.
FWIW i have never heard anything bad about Radford........ not sure if thats a good thing or not LOL

Thanks Carol

I've actually already printed out and filled in the registration form, but I just wanted some opinions on the school before I forked out $100! I too have never heard anything bad about Radford, and I've lived in Canberra my whole life, so you'd think I'd have heard about it if it was a bad school, but I was just hoping for some reassurance from someone who's actually got personal experience!

Hi there,

We have had both kids on the waiting list for R since birth. The ELC is actually opening next year and Delia has been offered a spot.

She is at the top of the list but she has still only been offered a fulltime placement  . We only wanted to pursue the two days a week option.

We have heard excellent things about R too. Having worked in the public system for years I don't want my kids going to a public highschool. Having said that public primary schools are fine. So we are still in two minds about whether to accept the spot or not.

Like Carol said though I would not delay in getting your daughter onto the list. At least that way you can decide at the time what to do. You can't just enrol them the year before and expect them to get in. If they are not on the list there is no hope of getting a spot.

If you want to keep it as an option I would put your name down. I too work in the public system like Susanna, but I don't have a problem with the high schools. I think it's like anything else, there are good and bad ones. The other thing to consider is the reputation of a school now does not equal it's reputation in 10 years or even 2 years time.

I went to Radford from '95-'00. I found it to be a very good school during that time, and would send my children there if I could afford it!
That being said, I don't know how the teachers are at the moment, as I think virtually all the staff have changed. They do have a good work ethos though and there's lots of support available to students if they need it.
I think they prepare you well for university as well, if that's the course your children decide to take.
That being said, you can guess that my experience has only been with the high school/college side of it. The primary school started being built after I left, so don't know much about that area of it.

HTH.
