After much searching (I have a 90000 name book, no help there) we have found a name we love, however... Now Im a bit concerned. My second daughter is Sasha and gets called Sash for short, and the name we like is Ashton, which we assume will be Ash for short. Im thinking when we are calling them is will sound very much the same "Sash" "Ash" Am I being silly or not, what do you think???

I agree with fifi.

Could you just insist on calling him Ashton?
FWIW - none of my DHs family had a nn as the family insist on using their names.

I think they are too close, too sorry. Even if no nicknames were used.

Yep - I agree with PPs. Way too close to your DD's name!! With or without the NN.

Thanks everyone, the only other name we like is Angus, who likes that one? His sisters names are Sasha & Holly

I like Angus.
Actually, I like it so much that I named my dog Angus. But it works for people too :)

Agree with everyone so far, it's too close for siblings.
I think Angus is a far nicer name than Ashton anyway

Ashton and Sasha are too close for my liking so I would go with Angus.

Love Angus - this was on our shortlist for DD#1, but has since dropped out of the running as we had a friend who used it. FWIW I actually prefer Angus to Ashton hands down.

I am going to go against the grain and say yes they are close but you will manage!!! If your first choice is ashton go with that - I know a few 2 ashtons and they both refuse to be called anything but that so I wouldnt let a nickname stop you
If this bub was a boy he would of been named Deegan and Keenan is our sons name so that would be really close aswell

I'm going against the grain as well. Yes they are close, but for me, that wouldn't bother me too much. My name is Melonie and my sister's Melissa. We both get called Mel. And doesn't bother us in the least.
But I also like Angus. So if you're not sure about Ashton, I would use that for sure.

Definitely Angus. A much nicer name, and Ashton sounds far too similar to Sasha.

Way too close for my liking. I don't actually like Ashton as a name anyway, and from my sig. you can see it's quite obvious I love Angus
