I have applied for a FT position this morning and if i was to get it i would have to put 10 month old DS into Family day care.
He has never been cared for by anyone else before and before i have even arranged anything i am feeling somewhat guilty about leaving him there all day at such a young age.
I know there are a few of you out there that put your children into day care and i was wondering how you cope with it.
DO they seem to have fun?
DO they get sick often?
Are the fees reasonable?

Anything else you could let me know would be great.

ryan has been in fdc since 10mo and emelia since 5 mo. they both have a lot of fun (and their fdc is not even a very active one!) they enjoy their carer and the other children. they don't get sick any more often that any of the other kids in our playgroup (mostly at home) and i think the fees are reasonable, but if they weren't what would you do? lol

Kya has been in FDC 2 days a week since she was 4 1/2 months and she loves it. Her carer is wonderful (I think that this can make an enormous difference)and I know that Kya is safe and secure and well looked after while she is there. Her FDC mum looks after 3 other kids - a 4 yr old, a 3 yr old, an 18 month old and Kya at 7 months, so she has her hands full.
I did find the first couple of days really hard (it is an emotional adjustment both leaving your child for the first time as well as going back to work). My DD has always been really happy to go to her carer, and now claps her hands when we get to the front door. The other kids there are great and interact really well with her.

For us, FDC has been a nice "compromise" where Kya is in care, but not a a big centre and it works really well in our situation.
