hi
I have to certify about 70 pages of a contract and whilst it is easy enough to come across a public servant in canberra I cant well ask a friend to write "I here by certify..." on 70 pages now can I? So does anyone know where I can get hold of a stamp that says that or a solicitor that does this type of thing cheaply?
Thanks Karen

I maybe wrong but I have never heard of having to certify every page of a large document, that is ridiculous. Wouldn't an initial on each page be sufficient.
Leanne
DH (solicitor) uses a stamp for his certifications most of the time. In some cases specific government documents require all pages to be certified individually but most of the time they can just write something like 'I certify that this document and the following x pages are true copies of the original' and so forth and so on.

We paid nothing for the certification - but I did all the copies there.

I believe it is illegal to ask for payment to certify documents. In some cases (e.g. in pharmacies) you may be invited to make a coin donation to some good cause (tin on pharmacy counter). Most people are more than happy to do this, I have found.

Really? It's illegal? Not at home ... but I have learnt not to compare anymore

A bit late now, but if anyone ever needs a Justice of the Peace for this kind of thing I am always available and can answer questions anytime too. I live in Ngunnawal but I offer a cuppa and a friendly face : )
It is definitely illegal for anyone to charge you or take gifts for these kinds of services.

There is generally a JP avavilable at the Magistrates court in Civic for signing stuff most mornings. It's a volunteer position so somtimes there is nobody there if they are sick or whatever. You need to take your own copies with you.
If I'd known about Lynn and offer of a cuppa I would have gone to Ngunnawal instead of the city!
