Hi,

Okay, I know we have heaps of time but we are finding it sooooo difficult to come up with a few boys names.
I went through a baby name book and came up with like 5 names i liked, but DP didnt. H then went through that same book and found only 1 he liked - Xzavier.
Which i dnt mind too much but im worried about others pronouncing it ect.
Dp wants a name that isnt too common, and he was thinking of looking at names from the era of 'the knights of the round table' huh.gif
His middle name will probably be James and our last name is one syllabal begining with Q.

Can anyone help me in anyway????
diamondmummy
I really don't think you could have a first name starting with X and a last name with Q... IMO

James is nice for a middle name and most first names go with it.

Do you have anything that you like at all?
fifi-trixibelle
Xavier is fine without the unecessary z. Xavier James sounds nice.

I'm not sure exactly when the knights of the round table era was but here are some suggestions.

Bennett James
Hamish James
Noah James
Everett James
Sampson James
Nicholas James
William James
Henry James
Vincent James
Charles James
Frederick James
Andrew James
Atticus James
Francis James
Joseph James
Benjamin James
Oliver James
Phillip James
Bradley James
Thomas James
Timothy James
Geoffery James
Theodore James
Patrick James
Nathan/Nathaniel James
Finlay James
Liam James
Michael James
Christopher James
Robert James
Jacob James
Cameron James
Marcus James

Hi,
DP liked the spelling of Xzavier with the 'z'.

A few names i liked where:
Alexander
Connor
Noah
Jayden
Nicholas
But DP seemed to dislike most of these (i may be able to warm him up to Noah or Connor).

Thanks so far to diamondmummy and fifi. I will be showing DP all you suggestions when he gets home.
diamondmummy
Baby Wish - Alexander James sounds really nice!

Fifi, you have some lovely suggestions! My Fave are:
Hamish James
Noah James
Sampson James - I wanted desperately to call my son Samson but DH would not let me mad.gif
Nicholas James
Oliver James
Timothy James - Adore this one!!!
Theodore James - nn Teddy original.gif
Patrick James
Marcus James

Whatever you do, DON'T use an unnecessary z. It will only make you, and by extension your son, seem illiterate. Not a good way to start life.

Alexander, Connor, Noah and Nicholas are all good choices. If you like the 'Z' sound you could name him Alexander and use Xander as a nickname.
Simplicity
Alexander was a favorite of mine but DP didnt like Alex as a nickname, plus he kept going on about naming him Alexandra! Although i keep saying its a girls name!
I will see what he says about Xander as a nn and see if that warms him to Alexander (not so sure though).

Here are some names I found from the King Arthur period in England:

I do love Xavier.

Austin
Grant
Max
Wesley
Zavier
Camden
Gage
Garrett
Hunter
Jordan
Hayden
Tavon

What about Zavier instead of Xavier if your DH wants a Z? I don't meant to offend, but to put it bluntly Xzavier is absolutely ridiculous wacko.gif And your son will have trouble with it his whole life.

wub.gif Emrys btw
rach1971
I agree the z is blink.gif. My eldest son is Xavier and it is pronounced like a Z otherwise the only problem is those who pronounce it egg-zavier as they can't pronounce an X properly. I just correct them!
A beautiful and I agree with the pp who said you would look illiterate spelling it any other way.
Good Luck
I am having twin boys now so need 4 names original.gif
Flimsy*But*Fun
Does you DH want to pronounce it:

ex - zavier ?

or just, Zavier?

I agree with PPs - Xzavier is bizarre.

Xavier is a beautiful name and one of my faves.

ETA: I also love the Spanish pronunciation:
Haa-vee-Air.
Devi
Xzavia looks like a drug company's botched marketing attempt for a new medicine.

"Xzavia, the new Viagra".

I can see it now.
Simplicity
Devi - laughing2.gif ROFL. That was funny!

Flimsy*but*fun - Rach1971 - Elegie -

DP was/is pronouncing it EX-zaviar, but since reading the last few posts i have shown him that it is pronounced Zaviar But spelt Xaviar but he still insists on pronouncing it EX-zavier. What am i going to do? I was starting to maybe agree on this name untill all the pronouciation troubles arose. And he doesnt like the spelling of Zavier. AHHHHHHHHHHH
ThatsNotMyName
I think *most* people shouldn't have a problem with Xavier, it's well known without being well used.
Cat©

I like the sound of it and its not exactly hard to spell
