HI there, I have made the decision to wean my 5mth old from bf to formula. The problem is she won't have a bar of it!! I have tried using a cup and a bottle with the same result. Has anyone else had this problem? I would love some advise on what else to try.

From my experience you need to try the breastmilk in a bottle first before switching to formula so that they get used to a bottle. I had to gradually change the mix of the bottle to eventually end up with 100% formula the same happened when going from formula to cows milk. I also had to get my mum or my husband to give the bottle to my DD until she got used to it as she would always refuse it when I tried, no matter what was in it. I do have several friends whose babies refused completely to suck from a bottle now matter what. They had to wean straight to a cup, but this wasn't until they were closer to 1. You can also try different types of teats.

Good luck

I have a similar problem, my 8 month old will not touch
formula, I tried various types of bottles, teats, formula without
any success. I was starting to worry as I will be returning to
work in 3 months & he will be in f/t childcare. My only option
was give up on formula & to buy a breast pump & express,
so far it is working out ok.

I was hoping he would take formula by now so that he sleeps
a bit longer at night, but he has other ideas.
