Hi I was wondering if anyone could help? We live next door to a rental property and despite several requests over the past 5yrs to get repairs (or a new fence) btw our properties he always makes up some excuse. Is there anyway we can 'make' him comply?
We've had renters with vicious dogs come into our property, our 4 kids couldn't go outside for 6mths. His solution when we rang him was to evict the renters. We now have very feral people there whose DD keeps ripping down palings to gain a viewing position into our backyard to harass our kids.
Suggestions anyone?? :quest:

It’s to my understanding that if you were to replace the fence, you split the bill with the landlord next door. But to do this you need to get a few quotes photocopy them for the landlord and inform him of the cost. You'll have to check on this as I personally haven’t dealt with fences.
But damage to property (which is what that little girl is doing) is a violation of their lease and could result in an eviction.
Lodge a complaint with the real-estate agent, they have to treat your complaint with as much confidentiality as possible, but if the estate agents send them a warning in regard to the fence, more then likely they are going to know who it came from.
The real-estate agent has to send them a warning first, and then they will go out and inspect the property. The more complaints the more likely it is that they will do something.
But if next door is privately rented, then you will have to go to the landlord.
Have you tried to talk to the little girls parents? Did that help at all?

Thanks for your reply Natalie. Unfortunately there is a VERY LONG history with this girl and her mum. Last time we spoke it resulted in the mum yelling abuse at me, ringing my doorbell when my DH had gone out and abusing me. I don't think she is reasonalbe at all. I have discussed these issues with the landlord who rang the tentants who then in turn abused me. Catch 22 hey!! I wish they'd just go and then I'd deal with the fence issue immediately. I was just hoping I could use some law or requirement to get the landlord to comply.
