Hi all,

It's a long shot but was wondering if any one can help me.

I have been covered through my parents health fund ( HCF) up until the day of my 22nd B'day in April this year -when i immediately renewed my insurance. The person who did the renewal assured me i was definately covered and there was definately NO waiting period because i was not taking out a new policy just continuing on with my parents. I have just received an email stating my details and that my waiting period will be up on 1st Feb 2006. As it is 8.00 pm on a Fri evening i have no one to call and am wondering if any one else has been through the same process- I did say it was a long shot!!

Anyway any help to put my mind at rest would be great.
Especially if it is the case i am due 31st jan. Isn't it always the case!!!

Hi Anna,

I was given the exact same advice when I transferred from my parents to my own cover a few years back: if you are with Medibank, there should be no problem if you transferred to your own fund within 1 month of your birthday.

Funds are generally open on Satudray mornings (not afternoons) so make sure you go there tomorrow morning and talk with a staff member.

Hope that helps?

There definitely shouldn't be a waiting period for your 'new' cover, sounds like you just got a standard email that didn't take into account your previous insurance through your parents. Hope you have got it sorted out now!
