Hi everyone

I've probably left things too late, but I'm trying to find some activities for my 3 year old on the days he doesn't go to Playschool, otherwise we will both be going mad. We do the normal visit the parks, walk dogs etc. I'm looking for more organised activities and maybe something where I can get out at meet other mums.

I found this one, but we have 2 other days in the week to fill (He sleeps better if we go out biggrin.gif ). Either side of town is fine. Mornings preferred.

"Looking for something to do with the kids? Tulips on Tuesdays offers a fun line up of hands-on activities for the little ones. Teddy Bear Tea Parties, Gardening Adventures, Cooking with Kids and Story Time - there’s a different activity every Tuesday.

Tulips on Tuesdays starts on the 29th April and runs every Tuesday from 10am to 12pm at Tulips Café, 8 Beltana Road, Pialligo. It costs $7.50 per child and this includes morning tea and all craft supplies.

If you would like to ensure your little one has a spot for the next session of Tulips on Tuesdays then make a booking on 6249-6118 or 0409-630-118. Mother’s Groups and Playgroups are welcome to reserve a table for mums, grandparents and carers."

Swimming lessons

Blueberries dance

Playgroup?

My plan for DD is to do swimming and yoga in term 2, swimming and dance in term 3, then dance and other fun things like ice skating and indoor climbing in term 4. Next year we're pulling her out of all extra-curricular activities for at least a term while she settles in to full-time school.

DD is doing gymnastics holiday program at Holder this week - I'm not sure if they have regular classes/activities for under 5yos? Just googled and yes they do... Woden Valley Gymnastics or if this isn't local to you then check the Gymnastics ACT club listing.

YMCA in Chifley has lots of physical activity classes and parent-child story reading groups for kids under school age.

Paint & Play - Ainslie, Kambah, Richardson & Gungahlin. Free, runs during school terms, different locations are on different days. I think Parent Link has information on it. But I think that Ainslie is Wednesdays 9:45-11:15am behind Ainslie shops, and Kambah is 9:30-11am.

The libraries have regular story times - different libraries on different days, it's on the ACT Libraries website. Free.

National Museum has regular story times - on their website. Free.

The National Art Gallery often has a children's exhibition on. Check their website. Free.

There is a little newsprint book that comes out every term called "holiday happenings". Most of the activities are for 5 and up but there were a couple for younger kids including the gymnastics that DD is going to. I picked up my copy at preschool but have also seen them at the library.

The PCYC has tots tumbling on during school term for 1 to 5 year olds, is only cost about $50 per term too - per child (which is great when you have more then one) - it is held at erindale

Thanks for the great ideas. I would be really useful if we had somewhere to put up all the children's activities/classes for people who are looking. There's so much out there that I'd never heard of.

just wondering if anyone has done gymnastics / kindertots in belconnen?
and also if the holiday happenings book is out yet for the july holidays?

My 3 year old has just started gymnastics on a Friday at Canberra City gymnastics in Belconnen. I`m really impressed with it and she absolutely loves it.

We also do the Wed. morning paint and play in Ainslie....good fun for the parents and the kids, and all free!

Does anyone go to the gymnastics place at Erindale? Not the PCYC. I think it may be called Tuggeranong gymnastics? It's near the Erindale car wash place?

Brazen - unless you have changed jobs you will find holiday happenings land in the foyer as soon as it is out.
