Cate and her husband have just welcomed their third son, named Ignatius Martin Upton.
It's one of those names I hear and think 'I wonder what they'll call him' because I just can't imagine a child being known as Ignatius, not that there is anything wrong with that! What do you think? Iggy? Which has positive connotations for me because I love Iggy Pop!
Those as old as me will remember Ignatius Jones (Monica Trapaga's brother) who had a song out called 'They won't let my girlfriend talk to me' .. from the old Countdown days. I always assumed it was a made up name but realise now that it's not!
What do you think?

I knew a girl named Igne (pronounced Ignay). Her parents loved the name Ignatius for a boy, and when she was born they decided to make their own version for a girl.

She had her baby already?! That was a very quick PG!
It's a cool name, but not one I would use myself!

Yep, I would say that the most likely NN would be Iggy!
What is her second DS' name? I know the first one is Dashiel.

I think the second son was Roman, but I could be wrong.
I'm not keen on Ignatius, but each to their own I suppose. Maybe Ignatius can hang out with Moses and Apple, Bluebell and all the other celebrity kids with wacky names...

It is a terrific name with a long history. I imagine if they want a nick name then Iggy or Nat could be used.

Horrible
Reminds me of Iguana. The only Ignatius that I have met have been Indian so I find it hard suiting a little white boy.

I LOVE Ignatius (and also Xavier and Aloysious), but as these are all Jesuit school names - named after Saints (and I want my boys to go to one of these schools) I wouldn't name them after it.

It sounds like a 'trying really hard to be different but not ridiculously u-neek because we are too classy for that' name

At least it's not ignaishus

I do like the names of her other children, Dashiell and Roman.

Mmmmm, vey unusual!!!Dont mind Nate,Ignatius sounds like such a mouthfull, you would have to shorten it?!
I give Cate 10 points, for being so unique & different with her boyz names,Congats to the happy family....
I think it is a great name, particularly for the child of a family so heavily involved in the arts. I wouldn't use it for our child (but we are not particularly creative people!!)

I quite like it (and Iggy is a cute nickname), but prefer the names of her other two boys - Dashiell and Roman.

It's not something I would use myself, but shortened to Iggy is lovely.

I hate it -how could she!
Can you imagine calling out in the back yard -"Ignatius, Ignatius stop that please"!
Mind you wih Cate's throaty, theatrical drawl it would probably sound quite exotic!!

At least she didn't name it after an object like Apple....
Prefer Nate to Iggy for a NN but still wonder if it will be picked on in school...
