We are thinking about moving to Queanbeyan because we now both work there and i dont see sense living all the way out here. We are weighing up our options though, such as car rego, you can only pay yearly in nsw where as in ACT you can pay as little as 3 months which is good for people on a budget like us.
SO back to my question, i was wondering if there are any mums that live in Queanbeyan?
Also How do you find it living there? Is it quiet at night ect.............. :quest:

Yes, I live in QBN its not to bad here, shopping is a bit dull not much variety apart from Target. Good thing is very close to Woden/Civic. I understand rego is cheaper here as we get to choose greenslip provider. Housing is similar prices to ACT, rental prices have gone up a lot & hard get nice places. Like all towns we have our dodgy areas e.g Karabar & off Uriarra Rd, lot of housing commission. Not much for little kids to do here or I don't know of anything. We are 20 min walk from cbd &schools very quiet apart from the odd noisy neighbour, most of our neighbours are elderly so not much problems apart from a youth refuge across the road.

Hi Bec,
I also live in queanbeyan and love it here. We don't have any kids as yet (still TTC #1), but the neighbours are friendly, and it's like a little community. It's actually very close to Woden and civic (closer than when I lived in Tuggers) and the houses are nice and big (ours also has great views!).
We have never regretted the move and really like living here although we work and most of our friends are over the border!
Best of luck making the decision to move,
Amaly

Yep, I live in Jerra, and it's great. We bought our first house in Cooma St, Qbn about 8 years ago, then moved to Jerra. I love the fact that it's close to Woden/Civic and Tuggers. I used to live in Bonython, and it's much better than out there. It's true about the shopping - fairly boring, but at least it's a good excuse to get out of the house and go to Woden and Tuggers. We find there are a lot of Defence people out here - sometimes is annoying...these people don't seem to care about the property they are living in or their neighbours - perhaps their attitude will change when they own and live in their own homes. Anyhoo, to get back on tract..Besides that, it's great. There is a new primary school at Jerra and I believe a new High School will be built out at Hume. About your question, is it quiet at night - it's no different from anywhere else - you have the old person making noise, but not every night.
If you have heard that it's noisy out here because of the planes, yes, you can hear the planes, but I hear them when I visit anywhere in Canberra......
Maybe we'll see you out at Riverside one day soon...

hey,
my DP lives in queanbeyan, so i'm there a fare bit.
i find it pretty quiet where he lives,
and when i first moved here i lived in jerra,
i recomend it there as it was a nice quiet and freindly place to live.
it's also got many newer houses that also have backyards which north side new houses lack.
hope this helped a bit.
