DD is getting glasses due to a turned eye and long sightedness. We are picking them up on Saturday.

Do any of you hve any tips on getting her to keep them on?

I am also worries about breaking/loosing them at Creche!

She needs to waer them all the time unless out i nthe yard playing. if she doesnt she will probibly end up needing an opperation (might need one anyway)

my DD got her glasses just before she turned two due to her long sightness and turned in eye. biggest tip is to don't get the cheapest frames to spend a little extra for good quality frames, we brought DD frames that are bendy that can be bent in ways little ones do when they get their hands on them and it doesnt break them (they are around 350 dollars if i remember right) that has saved us alot.
Also the first few days when she wears them keep her busy so she doesn't think about them to much and more likely to take them off, we kept DD busy the first couple days and we actually had no problem with her taking them off i think she loved the fact she could actually see properly!!
Just make sure you have a chat to the people at creche they will look out for them especially knowing she is only starting to wear them, my DD was fine with hers at child care they took it off her and put them up high at nap time.

hope she can avoid the op, my DD had 3 years of the glasses before her op she had it last year on both her eyes not very pleasant at all sad.gif

She had a pair delivered within a week of ordering for around $30 total incl. postage!!!

You can get your prescription from your optometrist - they are obliged to give it to you.

we got the flexi glasses - only cost me $30 for two as we have private insurance (thank GOD!) But if they break we have to pay for them ourself until next year (hoping I dont have to)

She wanted the pretty flower ones but i could tell they would break in 5 minutes - so we just told her they were baby ones and too small for her! I think I lie at least 3 times a day to her at the moment!

Looks loke we will be doing a lot of activities on the weekend to keep her busy. Maybe see if build a bear has some specs there and we can go and make a princess bear with glasses???

If it doesnt inprove even slightly within a month we will have to start patch for 2-3 hours a day....... what FUN! blink.gif

woohho thats not expensive our private health insurance only paid for 50 dollars of it!! DD loved books with people with glasses if that helps, I guess it also helped that DH wears glasses for her, she also loves pictures of Harry potter lol ahh hope it doesnt come to patching (dont know why DD's specialist never recommeded that for her)

my darn spelling LOL
