ok, sense I've have my babies I've put on weight, not a huge suprise I know but what can you do?

Who has tried a weight loss program and had it work?

I'm looking at Sure slim, but I want to know if anyone else has had any good results from it.

Hi,

I have been doing Weight Watchers since I had my DD she is now 8 mths old and I have lost 25 kilos. It has worked so well for me because I can still have things I love and don't feel deprived.

Good luck on your weight loss journey.

Regards,

Nic

Hey Natalie,

I am the 'weight loss program' Queen ha ha ha! I have done Jenny Craig, Sure Slim, Lite N Easy & Weight Watchers twice (including right now). All along I have just been trying to lose 5 -8 kilos - ha ha ha, you'd think I would have suceeded by now!

With Jenny Craig I actually did lose about 15 kilos and I have sucesfully kept of 10. Since then everything else has been to shift that additonal 5 I put back on.

I too have gained a few kilos since Ayden was born and I am B/feeding on demand (sadly, I thought it would solve all my weight woes original.gif

If you wanted to do WW, myself and another EB member go along to the Tuesday night meetings in d*ckson. You would also be more then welcome to join us walking or me gyming at Club Pink or Club Lime.

Just for the record - I am sure you look fabulous and I think we all need to give ourselves more credit given it took 9 months to put the weight on original.gif

If you want any info on any of the other weight loss programs feel free to email me original.gif

I think it doesn't matter so much what you're on, as long as it's one you can live with. My sister has been doing a low-carb diet (I think the CSIRO one?) for about a year and lost something like 25kg - she's dropped about 4 dress sizes and seems to be brighter & more energetic too.

Hey Natalie

If you wanted to go along to WW in d*ckson, you might like to go on a Monday night instead of a Tuesday night - otherwise you might be all alone!!!

hahahaha.

Good one, Mel.

I just thought I'd mention that on a shopper docket (probably Woolies) I noticed a special deal going for WW - I *think* it was free joining and a cookbook - so I'm considering it.

I'm happy to "buddy" anyone in North Belconnen (do the Melba sessions Monday or Tuesday) - PM me.

How overweight are you - have you calculated your Body Mass Index? http://www.mydr.com.au/tools/bodymass.asp

Personally, I think that unless your BMI is over 30 then increasing your activity levels, reducing junk/processed and overall quantity of food should get you started on weight loss that you can continue sustainably until you reach "normal range" (ie BMI 20-25).

If your BMI is over 30 or changes to your lifestyle don't produce any weight loss in 3-6m then an appropriate weight loss program might be the go. Have you spoken to your GP about it?

There are two reasons I would go for the DIY thing if possible - firstly unlike weight loss groups/centres/diets it won't cost you anything, and secondly it's more likely to be sustainable.

There is also a special on the website you can print out www.weightwatchers.com.au first meeting free after joining - I think these specials do change as I have seen it as free joining fee... they might offer a better deal in spring when we all have sunning at the beach in mind, rather than looking beached in the sun iykwim!!

I have done ww in the past and find it great as it promotes a learned life style change.

I'm with Steph that DIY is the way to go, otherwise most people end up putting weight back on again when they go back to a 'normal' lifestyle (plus it's heaps cheaper!).

I have lost 26 kilos since Ollie was born (only really started getting serious in January though - 15 kgs since then), just through changing my diet and exercising more. I haven't had any help in the form of programs, but lots of inspiration and support from the DIY weightloss girls here on EB. And I've just joined a gym so that I can go the rest of the way.

MY advice is to read up on good nutrition and the right way to lose weight, then you can do it properly and for life.

A couple of websites to check out:

for low GI eating:
www.glycemicindex.com

for healthy eating in general:
www.nutritionaustralia.org

for online support from some lovely girls:
http://groups.msn.com/EBWeightLossinspiration

Good luck, and feel free to PM me if you have any questions or need support.

Hi

I am doing WW too. I used to be able to do the DIY approach pre-babies as i was really good and able to do lots of exercise and eat everything in moderation and able to lose weight easily.. now not so easy, so i find WW good as the points system is so easy. I did light and easy and it was ok but the food portions were tiny and it was expensive. I have heard that sure slim is really expensive and that they say that they personalise it but i have heard that they are all the same, basically just a low carb plan.

Good luck!

Rachel.
